While it already looked like an official preliminary judging, the Press Presentation of Bb. Pilipinas 2015 was really meant for all members of the quad-media who got exclusive invites. (Photo credit: Bruce Casanova)

When I mentioned before the high level of difficulty in judging the Bb. Pilipinas 2015 Official Candidates, I literally meant it. This is such a strong group that – after the winners are announced on March 15 – the defeated ones can still be assessed to assemble another set of titleholders ready to compete abroad for the following year.
And during last Tuesday’s Press Presentation, the thirty-four (34) Binibinis proved once more that not one of them will let up in the hunt for a crown. Every member of the quad-media saw the level of competitiveness in their eyes – to each her own and may the best of the best prevail.

This must be the reason why something that already looked like preliminary judging took place. Headed by BPCI’s Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta, this large group of around 10-12 individuals already took to the task of scrutinizing each Binibini. In fact, deliberations were made right after. And I reckon that the results of the same are likely to form part of their eventual recommendations to the finals night judges.
Nothing unusual about that. It has already happened before. But this year, they must really want to see all the ladies in their fiercest forms, unlike during closed-door sessions where the level of spotlight pressure is considerably less jarring to the candidates with no press cameras clicking one after another.
This much I can say. Whoever will be crowned the new Bb. Pilipinas Queens will have passed through the eye of a regular needle – one with a really narrow passage to get through at that. 😉

Yesterday afternoon, the hotel guests checked-in at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila were pleasantly disturbed by the sudden invasion of the Bb. Pilipinas 2015 Official Candidates when they marched towards the poolside area to have an exterior photo op with the media reps and lensmen in attendance. In fact, some of them even went as far as mingling with the press to take a shot of the Binibinis, with one or two even going as far as having selfies with the ones that they really found attractive. And what do you know? They preferred the brown beauties over the fair-skinned mestizas, as expected. Instant hits with the foreigners were Christi McGarry, Janicel Lubina and Teresita Ssen Marquez.
I took the liberty of grouping the ones who registered very well with most everyone. Janicel Lubina was, as one of our readers quipped, like a ‘Darling of the Press’. But it should warm the heart of Alaiza Malinao supporters that the level of interest in this Davaoeña has doubled in number as they find her beauty more to their Miss Universe liking.
For sure, there will be at least two titleholders in this group photo come March 15. (Photo credit: Edmund Chua for Fabmanilaph)
But if I had to give an award for “Miss Projection”, Binibini 28 Hannah Ruth Sison wins hands-down. This former 2nd Runner-up has already mastered the art of displaying a winning facial aura. And her various flirty ways of establishing eye contact with the panel of BPCI Officials are a joy to watch.
All in all, I would reiterate that this batch is a truly outstanding one. To say that the finals judges will have a hard time picking their winners would be an understatement.
The beauty battle is so fierce that it will definitely boil down to an explosive Q&A for the truly deserving winners to float on the surface. 😉
At the Sunset Pavilion of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, the Press Presentation of Bb. Pilipinas 2015 was held with a full-packed attendance of quad-media reps.
The thirty-four (34) Official Candidates gave their most shining projection to the constant clicking of cameras inside the Tent of the Sunset Pavilion. Endless poses, twirls and group shots delighted all photographers around.
Afterwards, everyone was brought indoors for the Binibinis’ group shot by the spiral staircase leading to the lobby. And then, it was time to move on to the poolside where even the foreign tourists were in awe at the beauty of our candidates.
In summary, my twelve overall standouts in this event are: (in this order)
Binibini 11 Janicel Lubina
Binibini 34 Teresita Ssen Marquez
Binibini 10 Pia Wurtzbach
Binibini 19 Christi Lynn McGarry
Binibini 12 Kylie Verzosa
Binibini 28 Hannah Ruth Sison
Binibini 21 Alaiza Malinao
Binibini 24 Ann Lorraine Colis
Binibini 29 Nancy Leonard
Binibini 26 Anabel Christine Tia
Binibini 23 Justine Felizarta
Binibini 3 Ria Rabajante
P. S. The strong contenders for Best in Swimsuit, in my opinion, are Teresita Ssen Marquez, Janicel Lubina and Alaiza Malinao.
Get ready for our new prediction contest for Bb. Pilipinas 2015 with a nice twist
Thank God it’s Friday!
I am looking at spending a restful weekend before the storm starts brewing again with the Bb. Pilipinas 2015 Press Presentation happening next week at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.
In the meantime, allow me to launch our new Prediction Contest – “Pick 5 for Bb. Pilipinas 2015”.
Prizes for the winner
This is a simpler take on our usual games for international beauty competitions. You only need to give me five (5) names from the current roster of Bb. Pilipinas Official Candidates – the ones you are guessing as the eventual titleholders for 2015. There is even no ranking required.
Just give me an accurate list of the Binibinis who will end up in the magic quintet and you’re good to go!
Please be reminded that I will start accepting entries by e-mail starting February 14, 2015. Don’t get too excited yet.
Submissions received prior to this date will not be honored.
Deadline will be at 6:00AM of March 14, 2015.
Keep in mind that all entries need to be e-mailed to: firstname.lastname@example.org 😉
