In an effort to unify with the global movement, a multi-sectoral coalition will be mounting Love Gala, Asia’s Premier Charity and Awards Gala event. The Love Gala will be unveiled during this media launch event, and is organized by the Love Gala Secretariat, a union of HIV and AIDS advocacy groups, government agencies, businesses, media agencies and socio-civic partners united in stopping the spread of HIV and ending the AIDS epidemic.
One of the ambassadors for the Love Gala is Miss Universe 2015 and UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador for Asia and the Pacific –Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. To encourage everyone to know their status, she will undergo an HIV screening as well as present her PIA Project that seeks to raise HIV awareness in the Philippines and across the region.
The Love Gala will confer The Ripple Awards 2017 to 10 individuals driving change, inspiring hope and bringing healing to populations and communities affected by the HIV epidemic. The 10 honorees will be awarded in person at the Love Gala Charity and Awards event to be held on 1 December 2017 in Taguig City (venue TBA) in cooperation with partner agencies, community-based organizations, NGO’s, LGBT prominent personalities and friends in the advocacy in observance of World AIDS Day.
The Love Gala will include a fashion show featuring top Philippine designers Francis Libiran, Cary Santiago, Nat Manilag, Cheeta Rivera and John Herrera, directed by Robbie Carmona. Guests will also be serenaded by a mini concert from celebrity performers, and bid on auctions to raise funds for various initiatives in the HIV and AIDS advocacy.

In the just-concluded Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2015 at the SM Aura Premier, professional fashion models were not the only ones who negotiated the runway for some of the designers who participated. Even a few of our Bb. Pilipinas titleholders took part in the same. Perfect examples are Miss Universe runners-up Venus Raj and Shamcey Supsup-Lee who wore the creations of their dear friend Cherry Samuya Veric. And then there is also Bb. Pilipinas 2015 1st Runner-Up Hannah Ruth Sison who was booked in not just one, but three separate gigs for designers Jeffrey Rogador, Jian Lasala and Boyet Dysangco.
In the images by Bruce Casanova and John Co below, it just goes to show that our beauty queens can be as fierce in the catwalk as they are on the pageant stage.

In a swimsuit pictorial
coordinated and styled by Yahoo Southeast Asia’s Kai Magsanoc for Yahoo She Philippines
and clothing brand Suiteblanco
, Miss Universe Philippines 2013 and Miss Universe 2013 3rd Runner-up Ariella Arida raises the temperature to boiling degrees while wearing its latest swimwear collection. The backdrop provided by Marco Polo Ortigas
(with hair and make-up from Make-up Designory Philippines
) gave the shoot a more urban lifestyle appeal that brings across the message that a woman doesn’t need to step out of her comfort zone (or literally out-of-town)
to exude sexiness and smoldering appeal.

Kudos to Ara for maintaining the whistle-bait figure that had greatly helped in catapulting her to the top 5 in Moscow last year. 😀
P.S. Suiteblanco has stores at the SM Aura Premier and the SM Mall of Asia. Visit its Facebook page to know more about the latest styles and collection for the modern woman.
