I would like to share Ms. Shane Quintana Tormes’ official announcement and update on her participation for Miss Global pageant.
Let’s continue to support our very talented delegate as she vie to get our very first crown and be the next Miss Global 2022 in Bali, Indonesia this coming May.

It was a nice start to the Christmas-themed episodes of #PageantryNorms on The Philippine Pageantry!
Hail! Hail! The Queens of the New Normal in Pageantry are here!
In what will go down Philippine Pageant History as the first-ever Virtual Edition of a National Beauty Competition, Roxanne Allison Baeyens of Baguio City was proclaimed Miss Philippines Earth 2020. She outlasted 32 other Eco Angels on her way to the title and the automatic right to represent the country in Miss Earth 2020. She is 23 years old, stands 5’4” and is an artist by occupation. Her environmental advocacy is centered on Urban Gardening. You might remember her as the lead in the Nescafe TVC titled “Receptionist” released late last year.
The court of MPE2020 – four ladies who will hold four equally-important titles
Her equally-important court is made up of:
Patrixia Sherly Santos of Daraga, Albay – Air
Gianna Margarita Llanes of Mandaluyong City – Water
Sherry Anne Tormes of Atimonan, Quezon – Fire
Ilyssa Marie Mendoza of Fil-Melbourne – EcoTourism
The judges for the Finals include former Miss Earth titleholders Alexandra Braun (2005) and Nicole Faria (2010), GMA Network VP for Program Management Joey Abacan, the #Greenman himself Matthias Gelber, Hana Shampoo Marketing Manager Carlos Bacani and former Miss RP Suzanne Gonzalez Gommer who represented the country in Miss World 1975.
It was not an easy journey for all the candidates as they had to pass through a pageant process that was entirely held online. While each one of them had the advantage of being in their respective comfort zones, the off-site presentation of their performances in each of the several preliminary competitions and three crucial areas of Prejudging placed them at the mercy of data/internet connection and an assortment of hardware that replaced the more traditional face-to-face judging they are used to. But in the end – and with the commendable efforts of the organizers – the results came convincingly for the panel of judges.
The five other #EcoAngels in the Top 10 who are now considered the runners-up include:
Justiene Ortega of the City of Manila
Alayzza Izzabelle Tolimao of South Cotabato
Arielle Jazmine Roque of General Santos City
Tsina Jade Chu of Iloilo City
Angeline Mae Santos of Quezon City
My big congratulations to all the winners!
Miss Philippines Earth 2020 Roxie Baeyens is ready to fly!
Just when I thought that coming up with a Final Prediction for the Top 10 of Miss Philippines Earth 2020 would be easy peasy, the last three weeks of preliminary competitions and official pre-judgings have certainly made it difficult to add and subtract Eco Angels in the list. In fact, I would have been more relieved if the Top 15 will be called for the first cut instead.
Be that as it may, the first six spots are almost givens. This considering the collective performances they have shown all throughout:
Shane Tormes of Atimonan, Quezon
Roxanne Baeyens of Baguio City
Patrixia Sherly Santos of Daraga, Albay
Hannah Bithiah Merino of Sta. Rosa City
Gianna Llanes of Mandaluyong City
Justiene Ortega of City of Manila
As far as the last four spots are concerned, this is where the choices have become trickier.
June Cyra Pineda of Talacogon, Agusan Del Sur has certainly zoomed ahead early on. She has reached a plateau during the last week and a a half, though. But I’m pretty sure she has done enough to secure a placement.
The last three ladies are those who have managed to steadily move up from the prejudgings and the rest of the preliminary events since mid-June. There is still a push-and-pull probability of them making it or not. But I am placing my bets on Ilyssa Mendoza of Fil-Melbourne, Rizza Paula Infante of La Castellana, Negros Occidental and Isobel Teano of Opol, Misamis Oriental.
With the line-up above, the race for the Top 5 is going to put a lot of pressure on the first six. But anyone among them would make wonderful brand ambassadors of the pageant for one full year.
I am giving the Top 5 places to Shane Tormes, Patrixia Sherly Santos, Gianna Llanes, Roxanne Baeyens and Justiene Ortega – all from Luzon and NCR. If one of them slips with a sub-standard presentation during the finals, then it would pave the way for one of the ladies in the lower half.
Best of luck to all Eco Angels! May the best of the batch be proclaimed on Sunday morning so they can swimmingly fulfill their reigns in the new normal of pageantry.
Starting today and each day till the end of the month, I will present three (3) Eco Angels of Miss Philippines Earth 2020 to familiarize you with their stats, environmental advocacy, interesting infos and why they want to be the next spokesperson for Mother Earth.
In just one glance, that is.
Let us begin with the candidates from Luzon and NCR:
More than halfway through the competition, here are normannorman.com’s Running Favorites for Miss Philippines Earth 2020 according to their respective regions:
From Luzon:
Shane Quintana Tormes of Atimonan, Quezon
Roxanne Alliso. Baeyens of Baguio City
Patrixia Sherly Santos of Daraga, Albay
Hannah Bithiah C. Meriño of Sta. Rosa City
From the Visayas:
Tsina Jade Chu of Iloilo City
From Mindanao:
Isobel Teano of Opol, Misamis Oriental
June Cyra Pineda of Talacogon, Agusan del Sur
From NCR:
Gianna Margarita Llanes of Mandaluyong City
Justiene Ortega of City of Manila
Alexandra Michaela Bobadilla of Parañaque City
From Filipino Communities Abroad:
Miah Llanes of Fil-Dubai, UAE
Ilyssa Mendoza of Fil-Melbourne, Australia
From my vantage point, the third and last phase of Pre-Judging – Beauty of Intelligence – should determine the ones who will zoom past others and who among the rest of the Eco Angels are likely to spoil the bids of the front-runners.
Based on the criteria in selecting the winner of Miss Philippines Earth 2020, Beauty of Face, Beauty of Intelligence and Beauty of Form/Fitness/Poise account for 95% of the total score. The remaining 5% is earmarked for behavior/personality. Of late, the most familiar names and faces usually end up getting crowned as the country’s representative to Miss Earth. Examples are the reigning titleholder Janelle Tee and the other recent queens like Celeste Cortesi and Karen Ibasco. You can even include Imelda Schweighart who resigned before her reign was completed.
In this year’s edition, the Eco Angels who need no long introductions happen to be former Bb. Pilipinas and Miss World Philippines candidates plus one who already represented us in a smaller international beauty pageant.
Any one among the trio above is expected by many to take it all the way to the top and become the next winner. Spoilers, of course, are not counted out just yet. The representatives of Talacogon, Agusan del Sur and Vincenzo Sagun, Zamboanga del Sur are fine examples of potential come-from-behind winners.
What are your thoughts about the other contenders, dear readers? Is it high time to crown a fresh face since the new normal in pageantry has already crept in?
If you ask me, it will all boil down to whoever will be the best spokesperson among them. Beauty of Intelligence will be the first key to unlock the magic circle. And a composed and articulate speaker is likely to give the best performer the second key to become the successor of Janelle.
Stunning face is important to many. But a committed, hardworking and cooperative lady with a little of everything is likely to top the competition.
Hi! Norman here. When I'm not working, I spend most of my free time planning on daily blogs. If you will notice, I always make sure that a fresh topic comes out everyday - not an easy thing to do but it's all good. Thanks for dropping by and enjoy the visit!
