Familiar names who made it are Michelle Marquez Dee, Ilene de Vera, Kayesha Chua, Kristi Banks, Ruffa Nava, Patrixia Sherly Santos, Sammie Anne Legaspi and more. I will update you on all their names in my next blog.
Two new titles will be given this year – Miss Philippines Tourism (in partnership with the Department of Tourism) who will represent the country abroad in a still unannounced competition and Miss Teen Eco International Philippines which is open to ladies 16-19 years old.
More activities will happen for the ladies before the Press Presentation. Grand Coronation Night will be at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on September 15.

Supermodel International 2018 will have its World Final in Bangkok, Thailand on September 14.
And the Philippines will be strongly represented by the excitingly beautiful Ruffa Nava.
Be it in color or B/W, she is an absolute stunner!
Can’t wait to see her burn the competition runway soon!
She may have failed in her twin attempts to win a national beauty title via Miss World Philippines 2014 and Bb. Pilipinas 2017. But the tall, beautiful and dusky Ruffa Nava of Iloilo will now get the chance to represent the Philippines in an international competition, and a reputable search for international models at that. She will banner the country’s participation in this year’s edition of Best Global Model of the Year to be held in Portugal.
Along with tall and good-looking Joshua Kristopher de Leon (right photo), the pair will be going to Lisbon, armed with the determination to win the country’s first-ever victory in the competition which has remained elusive so far. And by the looks of it, the owner of the search seems impressed. I chatted with Carlos Ventura Martins. He is both pleased and excited with our promising pair.
Let’s see if international modeling is the true big calling of our reps.
Best of luck, Ruffa and Joshua!
It was a whirlwind but satisfying 26 hours in Iloilo when I flew to the City of Love yesterday morning and returned just a few hours back today. As part of the judging panel for the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang Finals 2018 last night, I helped in selecting Demi Patria R. Jainga as the golden girl of the pageant which celebrated its 50th Edition at the University of San Agustin Gym.
I was in the company of beauty queens Bea Rose Santiago, Shamcey Supsup, Maxine Media and Rachel Peters and we were all pleasantly surprised at the level of articulation that most of the candidates displayed in both casual and Top 5 Q&A. Former Binibini Ruffa Nava clinched the 3rd highest title of Miss Iloilo Dinagyang IDFI 2018.
And earlier just after breakfast, I was picked up at Hotel del Rio and brought to Bombo Radyo Iloilo for a personal radio guesting in the program “Good Morning Philippines” with Bombo Ian Gajate to discuss about the said pageant plus the ladies of Bb. Pilipinas 2018.
All in all, I am so happy with this quick trip. Now I can fully agree why Iloilo is one of the world’s most livable cities – from the refreshingly modern airport to the uber clean streets and all.
Kudos to Miss Iloilo Dinagyang Executive Director Alex G. Soncio for making his farewell involvement with the competition the grandest in all of the seven years that he spearheaded the annual project.
I will be back!
