Is the City of Malolos prepared to field Vessica Sambo for Bb. Pilipinas 2014? (Photo credit: Bruce Casanova/OPMB Worldwide)
Vessica Sambo is the reigning Reyna ng Bulacan for Bb. Pilipinas. If we are to follow the placements in the provincial pageant, she should be expected to join the beeline for Bb. Pilipinas 2014 applications (just like last summer’s Merry Joyce Respicio) before month’s end. But unlike her fellow winner Jeslyn Santos who has already been taken in by Team JDV for trainings and makeovers, I really haven’t heard much (in terms of preparations) from this young lady. If she will indeed be the bet of the City of Malolos, then she needs to be laboring in beauty boot camp by now.
Otherwise, Vessica may need to give another girl the opportunity to take part in Bb. Pilipinas 2014. 😉
Jeslyn Santos: Bulakenya beauty at its finest
Raw, yes. Still requiring training and polish, yes. National Pageant potentials, another yes.
Jeslyn Santos is from Hagonoy, Bulacan (your blogger’s hometown) and is one of the crowned winners in Reyna ng Bulacan 2013. She is, in fact, elected as Miss World Philippines Bulacan 2013. And that means she will be earmarked for a possible candidate’s slot for the competition that will seek Megan Young’s successor next year.
But don’t you think she has a better chance of trying her luck in Bb. Pilipinas 2014? I know that the province has a different girl (Vessica Sambo) lined up for that. Let’s see what Team JDV will decide on, though. John dela Vega should know better.
19 years old and standing 5’8″, Jeslyn will surely benefit well from a carefully-planned makeover.
Since I am from Hagonoy, Bulacan, I would just like to share with you the winners of the recently-concluded Reyna ng Bulacan 2013 where the top winners will be the province’s bets for the national beauty competitions of 2014.

The Top 5 are:
– Vessica Sambo from Malolos was crowned Bb. Bulacan Pilipinas 2013 for Bb. Pilipinas 2014.
– Jeslyn Santos from Hagonoy was named Miss World Philippinee Bulacan 2013 for Miss World Philippines 2014.
– Geisha de Leon from Marilao was adjudged Miss Earth Philippines Bulacan 2013 for Miss Philippines Earth 2014.
– Sarah Asido from Balagtas was picked Reyna ng Turismo Bulacan 2013 for Mutya ng Pilipinas 2014, if not Miss Tourism World Philippines 2014
– Aira Inuoe from San Jose del Monte was given the Bodyshots Bulacan 2013 title for Bodyshots 2014.
Congratulations to the winners!
Some of the Reyna ng Bulacan 2013 candidates are national pageant-ready.
Above are the 10 ladies I'm liking for Reyna ng Bulacan 2013.
For many years now, the province of Bulacan (where your blogger grew up in) has always been a rich source of beauty contestants. Some of them were successful (like Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2004 Maricar Balagtas and Bb. Pilipinas World 2010 Czarina Gatbonton), fairly successful (BbP2012 2nd Runner-Up Ali Forbes plus previous Miss Philippines Earth elements Dianne Hernandez and Dennise Toribio), relatively familiar (Bb. Pilipinas 2013 alumni Merry Joyce Respicio, Camille Nazar and Jhan Helen Villanueva) and already forgotten (what are their names again?).
This year, Reyna ng Bulacan has assembled a group of 26 young hopefuls who will vie for the provincial title in the finals scheduled for September 13. I made an early assessment of the ladies and all I can say is that this is a good batch where at least 1/3 of the official aspirants are showing a lot of promise.
While I don’t have the official stats to verify their individual heights yet, I can see faces that can be trained and polished for the big league (paging Team JDV, this is your territory!). I won’t be surprised if I get to see a few of them screening for next year’s national finals. After all, the top winner is almost always Bb. Pilipinas-bound, just like the reigning titleholder Merry Joyce Respicio.
