The first question running inside my head in this year’s Miss World Philippines is this: How far will the organization favor the familiar showbiz personalities who are vying for the crowns? There are three certified Kapuso actresses among the forty – Isabelle de Leon, Michelle Marquez Dee and Kelley Day. Gut-feel is telling me that two of them are strong front-runners for any of the titles at stake.
Now the second question following that is this: With only four (4) certified teenagers among the candidates – Hannah Therese Cruz, Vanessa Mae Walters, Jena Masero and Mary Daena Resurreccion – will the most familiar among them (Vanessa being a former Miss Teen Earth Philippines winner and established model) be a shoo-in for the Miss Teen Eco International Philippines honor?
Before I answer the above, allow me to share my Top 20 (although it is likely that Top 16 will be the first cut, inclusive of the fast-track winners):
According to their assigned numbers now:
Isabelle de Leon
Glyssa Perez
Michelle Arceo
Patricia Navea Tan
Kalea Pitel
Tracy Maureen Perez
Kayesha Chua
Ruffa Nava
Ilene de Vera
Michelle Marquez Dee
Vanessa Mae Walters
Kelley Day
Michelle Thorlund
Patrixia Sherly Santos
Katrina Llegado
Sheila Reyes
Justiene Ortega
Sammie Anne Legaspi
Casie Banks (Kristi)
Shannon Kristie Kerver
With the list above, my second question was effectively answered. I predict Vanessa Mae Walters as winner of Miss Eco Teen International Philippines 2019, even if methinks that another teen might be included in the mix just to make the competition a little less predictable. At any rate, I stand behind my forecast that the 19 year-old Fil-Aussie from Cebu will get the title.
So I give you now my predicted Top 10 for Miss World Philippines 2019 and they are:

Glyssa Perez
Kalea Pitel
Tracy Maureen Perez
Kayesha Chua
Michelle Marquez Dee
Ilene de Vera
Kelley Day
Vanessa Mae Walters
Michelle Thorlund
Casie Banks
Honestly, it shouldn’t be too difficult to guess that Michelle Marquez Dee, Ilene de Vera, Kelley Day and Michelle Thorlund will bring home crowns late Sunday night because they are the clear tentpoles in this batch.
Now who will be added to the mix? My guess is that Glyssa Perez will complete the quintet. Potential Princesses will be Tracy Maureen Perez, Casie Banks and Kayesha Chua.
So if I had to make a final tally of which crown will go to whom, I would distribute them as follows:
Miss World Philippines 2019:
Michelle Marquez Dee
Miss Eco International Philippines 2019:
Kelley Day
Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2019:
Michelle Thorlund
Miss Multinational Philippines 2019:
Ilene de Vera
Miss Philippines Tourism 2019:
Glyssa Perez
Miss Eco Teen International Philippines 2019:
Vanessa Mae Walters
First Princess:
Kayesha Chua
Second Princess:
Casie Banks

It is hard not to see Michelle Marquez Dee winning the highest crown. Miss World Philippines 2019 is a title that is all hers to lose. Will she cave in to the pressure from the likes of Kelley Day and Michelle Thorlund? That is a possibility, but I wouldn’t want to delve into a big blunder preventing such victory to slip away so easily.
So to answer the first question at the start of this blog entry. Yes, my hunch is that two GMA-7 personalities will be big winners during the Grand Coronation Night at the Araneta Coliseum this coming Sunday.
By the way, the slightly delayed TV telecast will start airing around 10:30PM on the Kapuso Network.
