Just like Bb. Pilipinas 2013, Miss Universe Thailand 2013 will be proclaiming four new titleholders come May 11 at the Royal Paragon Hall of Siam Paragon. Aside from naming the successor of MUT2012 Farida Waller, Thailand’s representatives to three other beauty pageants – Miss International, Miss Supranational and Miss Tourism Queen International – will be crowned accordingly. Some might ask why the Miss Thailand Earth title is missing. That’s because there is a new franchise holder for ME, and will hold a separate and dedicated contest for the Manila-based pageant.
And from among the 44 Official Candidates pictured above, I have already checked out the possible strong contenders for the titles at stake. I am naming seven ladies so far who have piqued my interest:
Chalita Yaemwannang, 25
Arada Kenphapong, 24
Punika Kulsuntornrat, 20
Sakaowan Singhapreecha, 19
Wannapaluck Boonsakulcharoe, 20
Tanisa Punyaphu, 23
Rattanaporn Klinkularbhirun, 21
And just to complete ten names, I am including Darawan Chantara, Napassanun Suksawat and Preeyanuch Kittitanakorn in my shortlist of competitors.
It’s quite obvious that the ladies in this batch are predominantly Thai-looking and you can’t easily spot mixed-race beauties (like the previous years). Perhaps, the organizers have decided to go back to the basics and maximize the full potential of homegrown (100% Thai-blooded) lovelies than caucasian-looking reps. We’ll see how things turn out for the Land of Smiles in 2013. 😉
