Since the Official Candidates for Binibining Pilipinas 2010 have already been announced, the 24 ladies went straight to an endless series of fittings, sponsor visits, mall appearances, fashion shows, etc. The glitz and glamour of the pageant world has just began for the two dozen beauties, but the real acid test is right near the homestretch when the preliminary screenings (for the finals night itself) will be conducted and pressures are slinging arrows left and right. In the meantime, let’s focus on five ladies who made it to the list. They belong to the stable of premiere talent manager and beauty queen-maker Jonas Gaffud and I’m very sure at least one of them will wear a crown come March 6.
Candidate No. 18 - Helen Nicolette Henson
Nicolette is a 5’7″ stunner. The camera simply loves her face and charming presence. She almost joined last year but gave way to her colleagues in the same group.
Candidate No. 14 Mary Ann Ross Misa
Mary Ann is one of the tallest in this batch at 5’11”. She is 21 and bears a striking semblance to former Bb. Pilipinas-World Danielle Castano. I think this smart Assumption graduate has what it takes to be a winner this year, coupled with her gift of gab plus cool and stylish aura.
Candidate No. 13 Gwendoline Ruais
Gwendoline is the tallest among the girls. Towering at 6’1″, she definitely stands out without much of an effort to do so. Half-Filipina and half-French, this 20 year-old is actually a professional fashion model who trained with the best in the field. If her exotic mix and statuesque frame becomes a hit with the judges, then chances are that we’ll have our tallest international delegate so far.
Candidate No. 2 Rachel Ann Bustamante
Barely 18 and standing 5’6″, Rachel Ann is one of the fresh first-timers to the pageant. If she hits the big time and wins one of the crowns, then good for her. Otherwise, she can definitely use the experience to further hone and polish her personal style for another attempt in the next year or two.
Candidate No. 17 Rose Ann Aguilar
Rose Ann is another fresh-faced beauty who wowed the preliminary judges during the final selection of this year’s candidates. She is dead set to give a good performance in the pageant. Win or lose, this girl should be ready for her close-up. I’m not too keen on her winning prospects, but who knows what lies ahead?
When I stated above that at least one of the 5 girls above will definitely win come March 6, I was thinking of placing my bets on either Mary Ann or Gwendoline being that winner. I won’t be surprised to see Nicolette coming from behind, though. Now I’m confusing myself because I haven’t even featured the other ladies yet. At any rate, good luck to the Jonas Gaffud ladies in Binibining Pilipinas 2010!
Watch out for future blogs featuring the other stand-out ladies in this batch. There’s still Maria Venus Raj, Krissa Mae Kleiner and Dianne Necio and more….much much more! 😉
