From PMAP to BPCI:
#BinibiniWishList2019: Marianne Marquez
She is a professional model and a member of the new board of the Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP). She is no newbie to the world of pageantry, though. She wore pin #23 during the very competitive Miss World Philippines 2018 and finished in the Top 10.
Since then, Maan has been steadily preparing herself to take the bolder step of joining the bigger nationals – Bb. Pilipinas.
“I’m doing my own homework. I want to be in a good mental headspace and have my game face on going in…I think it’s also a disrespect to other women and fans of the pageant if a girl just breezes through it or treats it like a silly game.”
This smart and lovely woman looks up to Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray as inspiration:
“I just look up to Cat because she was so focused, driven, and well prepared. I aspire to be like that…”
So I guess we can all look forward to seeing more of Maan this 2019!

Kelsey Alaine Merritt on the cover of Ilustrado Magazine's latest issue
Now this one is pure wishful thinking on my part. I chanced upon the latest issue of Ilustrado Magazine and saw her face bannering the glossy cover.
Kelsey Alaine Merritt is a Filipino- American Communications Sophomore of Ateneo de Manila University who has been doing a number of runway/pictorial gigs as junior member of the Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP). She is young (under 20), tall (5’8″) and registers very well in photos (just as she looks beautiful in person).
While I don’t see her scrambling to join a beauty competition anytime soon, there is always the possibility of that all-important encounter with a well-appointed pageant scout that could spell the difference.
Kelsey, the Fashion Model
What do you think about Kelsey, dear readers? She is full of potentials, right? 😉
Can you see Binibini potentials in this 5’10” Supermodel?
Back in 2012 when I first featured Samantha Lewis as a possibility for Bb. Pilipinas, she was still a fresh eye candy with PMAP (Professional Models Association of the Philippines). Now that she has achieved senior status with the organization with a strong portfolio that clinches her high-end gigs during go-sees, will the 5’10” Fil-British catwalk diva be ready to explore a different avenue in front of the spotlight?
Some of us know by now that PMAP is fiercely protective of their members, and will never be the ones to push any one of them to join beauty pageants if there is nagging reluctance brewing within. In fact, they might have secretly heaved a sigh of relief last year when Maxine Medina was disqualified due to contractual concerns.
But will any of the camps pluck Samantha this time around? What’s your guess? 😉
Bb. Pilipinas 2012 Candidate #12 Maria Mika Maxine Medina (Photo credit: Melvin Sia/OPMB Worldwide)
For the weekend, I am re-introducing one of the early dark horses for Bb. Pilipinas 2012. She is the 21 year-old lady with the 4M initials – Maria Mika Maxine Medina – who is actually a part of Aces & Queens’ “Dazzling Dozen“. Her very Asian features lead people into thinking that she could be part-Korean or part-Japanese. But the pure Pinay with a squarish jawline is one versatile beauty whose looks can be transformed into a variety of representations. A Junior Model with PMAP (Professional Models Association of the Philippines), Maxine has appeared in an assortment of print ads (see photo below), magazine photoshoots and runway shows where she dutifully mastered her posing and catwalk skills. Simultaneously, she was taken under Jonas Gaffud’s wings to polish her style and projection for pageant purposes.
Maxine in her Celeteque print ad
According to PMAP’s Maxine Medina-dedicated page, the perky young lass measures 34-25-35 evenly distributed in her 5’8″ frame. Not bad. Not bad at all.
Watch Maxine in the next eight weeks as she competes for Bb. Pilipinas 2012! 😉
Jacqueline Milner is no stranger to the modeling world. She has been gliding the ramp in couture and designer wear for several years now, and is a proud member of PMAP (Professional Models Association of the Philippines). Armed with her statuesque presence, an intriguing breed of Filipino-American and the distinct body of a fashion model, she can own the catwalk without much of an effort to do so, while going through an assortment of photoshoots with the least amount of predictability.
The pageant stage, while not strictly within her comfort zones, is not far-fetched from the narrower runways she is used to. The Trumpwalk can be mastered in a jiffy if need be. In the same light, joining a beauty contest is not a remote possibility.
So if you see Jackie walking down the street leading to the final screening of Bb. Pilipinas 2012 on February 7 (expected to be an all-day and all-nighter of an event), don’t be surprised. Because if she makes it as an Official Candidate, then she might just continuously stamp her class and gameplan advantage all throughout this year’s edition.

Here comes another possible Binibining Pilipinas 2012 contender. Introducing Samantha Lewis, a 5’10” fashion model with Filipino-British lineage. The 23 year-old La Union native is a Nursing graduate who was scouted by FDAP’s Edgar San Diego for the modelling world. Now an active member of PMAP (Professional Models Association of the Philippines), she has been working the ramp since 2006.
Do you think she has what it takes to conquer the national pageant and become a beauty queen?
Our local pool of professional models has always been a rich source of candidates for Binibining Pilipinas. Will Samantha Lewis follow the footsteps of her colleagues in the profession who are now former winners of the pageant? Let’s wait and see! 🙂
