Allow me to share with you a blog entry about the recent GMA-7 “I-Witness” documentary presented by Howie Severino on “Ang Unang Reyna” (or “The First Queen”) who happens to be Purificacion Garcia Villanueva of Arevalo, Iloilo City. At the age of 22, she was crowned as the very first “Queen of the Manila Carnival” back in 1908. She is a writer responsible for several books that ranged in subjects from cooking, women’s cooperative, women’s suffrage and more.
Do watch the interesting docu below with special cameos of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and my friend, UP Professor Wendell Capili.
