Watch out for this reality beauty pageant search on GMA News TV beginning October 4!
Host Ali Forbes with some of the hopefuls
Starting October 4, Pinay Beauty Queen Academy
will air on GMA News TV and every Saturday nights thereafter. The reality beauty pageant training and development search will have twenty (20) lovely Filipinas undergoing intensive polishing and make-overs on their way to becoming world-class stunners worthy of good shots for a national title.
Hosted by Miss Grand International 2013 3rd Runner-up and Bb. Pilipinas 2012 1st Runner-up Ali Forbes, the show will have four (4) respected mentors – Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman, Miss World 1973 1st Runner-up Evangeline Pascual, Bb. Pilipinas Universe 1985 Joyce Ann Burton-Titular and Bb. Pilipinas Universe 1982 Maria Isabel Lopez – who will each be assigned their team of wannabes similar to what is being done by the US/UK program “The Face”.
Six of the familiar faces in the show (clockwise from top left:) Janelle Olafson, Jeslyn Santos, Joana Angelica Romero, Pircelyn Pialago, Steffy Gerona and Leslie Ann Pine
Let’s set aside our doubts and give this show a chance, dear readers. Who knows, it might even turn out better than expected. 🙂
P.S. By the way, you can support your favorite Pinay Beauty Queen Academy contender by texting PINAY(Number of Candidate) and send to 2929.

. I just thought of featuring four of the familiar participants in the reality TV/Beauty Queen search.
Remember Janelle Olafson? She’s the girl who won Ms. EcoTourism Philippines-The Mossimo Bikini Summit 2011.
Remember Pircelyn Pialago? She’s the girl who represented Dalaguete, Cebu in Miss Philippines Earth 2014 and who got her 15 minutes of fame via the “she passed away” comment when a fellow candidate (Leslie Ann Pine) fainted during the swimsuit competition.
Remember Jeslyn Santos? She’s my kababayan from Hagonoy, Bulacan who was Binibini 32 during Bb. Pilipinas 2014 and was originally crowned in the province for MWP2014 but decided to do this reality program instead.
Remember Joana Angelica Romero? She’s the Bicolana more popularly called Binibini 3 during Bb. Pilipinas 2014 and is more interested now to explore the possibility of a TV career than otherwise.
They are just four of the twenty-one beauties who made it to the program proper and who will be seen in the show once it starts airing on GMA News TV soon. Check out their Facebook page to get updates on telecast dates. 😉
Pircelyn got our attention alright (Photo credit: Edmund Chua)
The online community (actually even the public and the grammar nazis out there) have already feasted on the ‘honest mistake’ committed by Miss Dalaguete, Cebu Pircelyn Pialago when she was interviewed by ABS-CBN’s Mario Dumaual on what happened to her friend and fellow contestant Leslie Ann Pine during the swimsuit competition of Miss Philippines Earth 2014.
And she got our attention alright when she said that Leslie “passed away” instead of “passing out” minutes after the latter collapsed due to fatigue, electrolyte imbalance and sheer hunger. What struck some individuals is the fact that Pircelyn is a TV news anchor and field reporter in her home province. She could have easily prevented the minor slip from getting blown out of proportion. But then again, she already got her 5 minutes of fame for the same so she must be tickled pink in a way with the quick spotlight. 😉
Two of the several Kagandahang Flores bets for Miss Philippines Earth 2014
Kagandahang Flores entered a good number of entries for Miss Philippines Earth 2014. The reigning winner alone, Angelee delos Reyes, is a proud product of the camp.
Now, two of the lesser-known KF trainees are the representatives of Mariveles, Bataan and Dalaguete, Cebu.
Jenn-Kristel is a typical pretty young thing who wanted to become a beauty queen someday. The graduate of Bataan Peninsula State University is hoping that the judges of MPE2014 will take notice of her passion and desire to use the beauty and environmental platform to further her objectives of helping out her kababayans in Central Luzon.
On the other hand, Pircelyn is one girl who is just as used in front of the camera as she is behind one. Having had previous exposures as Cebu-based PTV4 Newscaster and RPN-9 Field Reporter has afforded her the chance to speak in public with confidence. She actually believes in having the skills to impart her ideas about Mother Nature in an effective way – having covered quite a number of natural calamities in the past.
Will both eye candies find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? The competition is at its fiercest for 2014 because of all the strong crossovers from Bb. Pilipinas. But just the same, there is nothing wrong with giving it their best shot and hoping for the most desirable results to come true. 😉
