Pinay Beauty Queen Academy Season 2 will have its kick-off regional/provincial screening come May 17. Interestingly, the event will take place alongside the Fertility Festival of Obando, Bulacan. But I’m not reading much into the coincidence because there is just no relation at all. If at any, the atmosphere should be entirely festive.
Host Ali Forbes will be there with the four (4) new mentors – Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago, Miss Universe 2012 3rd Runner-Up Smacey Supsup-Lee, Miss Earth 2004 Priscilla Meirelles and Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2000 Nina Ricci Alagao.
Watch out for the show’s premiere episode on June 21 to be aired over GMA News TV, and every Saturday & Sunday thereafter. 😉
The four new mentors are now in place for the ladies who will take part in Season 2 of Pinay Beauty Queen Academy
That is the number of Official Candidates being targeted by Pinay Beauty Queen Academy for its stronger and more competitive Season 2. With the presence of new mentors Bea Rose Santiago, Shamcey Supsup-Lee, Priscilla Meirelles and Nina Ricci Alagao, I’m pretty sure there will be more interesting and deserving ladies who will sign up for this one. Apart from the chance of being guided by the mentioned beauty queens, there is the top prize of representing the country in Miss Grand International 2015 which will be hosted by Bangkok once more come October.
The regional screenings will start very soon. So for those interested to take part, you may visit their Facebook page for details and updates.
The pilot episode of Season 2 will start airing come first week of June, 2015.

KF-trained Joanna Angelica Romero drew on her rich pageant experience in the regional and national level, plus the guidance of the reality program’s resident mentors (she got assigned to Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman), to land on top and be crowned the Grand Winner of Pinay Beauty Queen Academy Season 1. The final challenge is the pageant itself that was aced by the pretty Bicolana in practically all fronts. She is followed by 2nd Placer Janelle Olafson and 3rd Placer Katrina Verde.

Congratulations to the Top 3 and Joanna in particular. Will we get to see her presence felt even more in 2015? 😉
Tonight, the Season 1 finale of Pinay Beauty Queen Academy – to be hosted by Ali Forbes and Lance Raymundo – will go live at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre of Resorts World Manila where the final challenge will be revealed and one top winner selected from the remaining contenders.
There is no confirmation yet on whether the #1 placer will be automatically fielded in one of the national beauty contests for 2015, but suffice it to say that whoever she is will have the right amount of confidence and transformation to enlist in the likes of MPE or Mutya.
By the way, the TV telecast of the finals will air tomorrow night at 9:45PM on GMA News TV. 😉
Jojo Bragais (right) with one of his most successful shoe muses, Miss World Philippines 2014 Valerie Weigmann
One such individual is young Albay-based shoe designer and manufacturer Jojo Bragais who is starting to create a noticeable impact in local pageantry. Starting with Bb. Pilipinas last summer all the way to Miss World Philippines last month, his fab pairs have been worn by eventual winners Yvethe Marie Santiago and Valerie Weigmann. And even prior to the same, Bb. Pilipinas 2013 1st Runner-Up Pia Wurtzbach has also thrown in her support.
Just recently as well, Jojo’s works have found its way Down Under when Miss Philippines-Australia 2013 Melanie Balagtas and 2014 Princess Arianne Tan started wearing his platform heels in all areas of competition. And in just a little over a month from now, he will have some of his custom-made designs getting featured in a Canadian fashion magazine. Other notable appearances of his outputs were during the Philippine Fashion Week, the Masskara Queen Festival 2014 and in the reality pageant program “Pinay Beauty Queen Academy” on GMA News TV.FYI, Jojo does not limit himself to beauty contests/fashion shows. He also creates for weddings and fantasy ensembles.
For now, this talented shoemaker still has a long way to go before he even comes within striking distance of his much-heralded counterparts. But Jojo Bragais has already started the climb. And at the rate he is performing, the wait may not be that far-off. He is looking at opening his first shop in Albay very soon.
For those interested, you can get in touch with him by email at josejoaquin.bragais@gmail.com or through his business mobile number at 09127289387. 😉
When: Tonight at 9:45PM
Where: GMA News TV
What to expect: Four (4) mentors – Precious Lara Quigaman, Evangeline Pascual, Joyce Ann Burton-Titular and Maria Isabel Lopez – head four teams of five members each to try and hurdle different challenges while coaching each one of them in hopes improving their chances of becoming the true national Beauty Queens in the future.
Ali Forbes hosts with comic relief coming from Joy Viado.
This could be worth following. 😉
Hosted by Miss Grand International 2013 3rd Runner-up and Bb. Pilipinas 2012 1st Runner-up Ali Forbes, the show will have four (4) respected mentors – Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman, Miss World 1973 1st Runner-up Evangeline Pascual, Bb. Pilipinas Universe 1985 Joyce Ann Burton-Titular and Bb. Pilipinas Universe 1982 Maria Isabel Lopez – who will each be assigned their team of wannabes similar to what is being done by the US/UK program “The Face”.
Six of the familiar faces in the show (clockwise from top left:) Janelle Olafson, Jeslyn Santos, Joana Angelica Romero, Pircelyn Pialago, Steffy Gerona and Leslie Ann Pine
Let’s set aside our doubts and give this show a chance, dear readers. Who knows, it might even turn out better than expected. 🙂
P.S. By the way, you can support your favorite Pinay Beauty Queen Academy contender by texting PINAY(Number of Candidate) and send to 2929.
Remember Janelle Olafson? She’s the girl who won Ms. EcoTourism Philippines-The Mossimo Bikini Summit 2011.
Remember Pircelyn Pialago? She’s the girl who represented Dalaguete, Cebu in Miss Philippines Earth 2014 and who got her 15 minutes of fame via the “she passed away” comment when a fellow candidate (Leslie Ann Pine) fainted during the swimsuit competition.
Remember Jeslyn Santos? She’s my kababayan from Hagonoy, Bulacan who was Binibini 32 during Bb. Pilipinas 2014 and was originally crowned in the province for MWP2014 but decided to do this reality program instead.
Remember Joana Angelica Romero? She’s the Bicolana more popularly called Binibini 3 during Bb. Pilipinas 2014 and is more interested now to explore the possibility of a TV career than otherwise.
They are just four of the twenty-one beauties who made it to the program proper and who will be seen in the show once it starts airing on GMA News TV soon. Check out their Facebook page to get updates on telecast dates. 😉
Former Binibinis Jeslyn Santos and Joana Angelica Romero from Bb. Pilipinas 2014, plus Miss Philippines Earth 2014 Top 10 finisher Leslie Ann Pine from San Leonardo, N.E. have been seen slugging it out with the other enlisters who will most likely make it to the next cut and be part of the show.
Will they achieve the fame and fortune they missed in their respective national pageants and become stronger and more confident beauties after the show is over?
That we’ll have to see. Anyways, good luck to all three girls! 🙂
