Thanks to Alexa Villano of Rappler for these shots.
Once more, big congratulations to you Attorney!
Miss Manila 2015 Kaycie Lynn Fajardo will crown her successor tonight. She is wearing an Edwin Uy creation above.
A few familiar names actually popped up in the stated list as previous joiners of Bb. Pilipinas, Miss World Philippines, Miss Republic of the Philippines and even Bodyshots Philippines. Let us see if previous experiences will hold them in good stead during the proceedings later.
The Coronation Night will be hosted by Edu Manzano and KC Concepcion and will have a delayed telecast on TV5.
Good luck to all the candidates! 🙂
One lady will have her life changed tonight.
Miss World Philippines 2011 will be crowned during formal pageant ceremonies at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) and will earn the right to represent the country in Miss World 2011 to be held in London, UK on November 6. Since we’re more than halfway through September, the winner will be immediately whisked to more trainings, makeovers and fittings because she will definitely be flying to the contest site next month.
Among the 25 contenders, I have fearlessly trimmed down the list to what I term my “Pick 7 Ladies” – the ones who I feel are best fits for the mold of a Miss World candidate. They are, in this particular order of personal preference:
Obviously, my pick to win is Gwendoline Ruais. I simply love this statuesque Fil-French stunner. Gut feel tells me that she will rock the Miss World stage if ever. But close on her heels is Helen Nicolette Henson who will definitely give the former stiff competition. If not for a middling height, she could easily be a shoo-in for the top spot. Let’s see if one of these two ladies will nail the title tonight!
Reigning Miss World Alexandria Mills will crown the winner. The Board of Judges will include boxer Manny Pacquiao, actress Iza Calzado, Dr. Vicki Belo and Fashion Designer/Make-up Specialist Fanny Serrano.
Who’s your pick to win? 😉
Miss World Philippines 2011 will air over GMA-7 tonight at 10pm after Protege’

Our pageant-loving country just got an extra boost with the launching of Miss World Philippines 2011 which aims to put up a pageant that goes beyond skin-deep. Hand-in-hand with the Miss World Organization, Cory Quirino is spearheading Global Quest to give a totally new definition of the Filipina beauty, i.e., Beauty in Giving.
Here is Ms. Quirino’s welcome message as quoted from the Miss World Philippines 2011’s website:
Miss World Philippines: Beauty in Giving
Hello friends of Miss World Philippines ! . If you are a believer in beauty, especially one with a purposeful reason for being, then you are most welcome in our world.
It is with honor and privilege that I have accepted the Exclusive License awarded to me by Mrs. Julia Morley, Chair and CEO of Miss World Limited last January 25, 2011 . This acceptance marks my commitment to the cause of Miss World and the high expectations that come with the title. I am determined to rise up to the challenge of excellence, a tradition of the highest standards set by Miss World for over 60 years .
2011 marks the beginning of a new history for Miss World in our country simply because, for the very first time a Miss World Philippines will be crowned. She will become our Ambassadress of Goodwill to all nations the moment she steps onto the stage of the World Pageant. The Filipina who wins this coveted crown will be a shining example of the heart and soul of Filipino womanhood.
Inspired by the slogan of Miss World Limited – “Beauty with a Purpose,” we are adopting in the Philippines the theme “Beauty in Giving.” And this is why, our winner and her court will put her beauty to good use by caring for the marginalized women and children of the Philippines through various charities, namely, Tuloy Streetchildren Village and the PGH Medical Foundation.
CQGlobal Quest Inc., will manage the Miss World Philippines Pageant and through its activities, earmark funds for the betterment of the lives of countless streetchildren as well as the medical care of thousands of charity patients in the Indigent Wing of the Philippine General Hospital.
It is time for the world to see and to behold the beauty, the goodness and the brilliance of the Filipina and through her, the wondrous beauty that is the Philippines.
You can become a part of this noble crusade by seeking her out, this outstanding candidate – she who will become Miss World – Philippines. And by God’s grace, possibly win the title of Miss World.
Beyond words of gratitude, I thank and bless you all.
Cory Quirino
