Tonight, two beauty pageant finals will unfold simultaneously.
First is the Miss Global Philippines 2017 at Resorts World Manila where Camille Cj Hirro will crown her successor among the 22 beautiful contenders below. See who will take home the victory at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
Best of luck to all the ladies, but most especially to my favorites Jacqueline Mayoralgo, Mary Ann Mungcal, Charmaine Aller, Frencheska Frias Nueva and Christine Balaguer.
normannorman.com will be at the venue to cover with Joy Arguil and Joseph Gerard V. Jose.

And over at the PICC Plenary Hall at CCP Complex in Pasay City, the thirty (30) candidates of Miss Manila 2017 will try to outshine each other as they go onstage for the crowning of a new face for the city to succeed Cristelle Tolentino.
I have more than a few ladies here who I want to land on top, such as former Binibini 4 Maria Gail Tobes, Kristine Montes, Joanna Tolledo, Katrina Sese and Athena Catriz.
Who will be the lucky girl to win PhP1 Million Pesos in the end?
There are thirty (30) ladies competing for Miss Manila 2017 which will have its finals this coming June 24 at the PICC Plenary Hall. Some of the faces are distinctly familiar, like Maria Gail Tobes who was Binibini 3 during Bb. Pilipinas 2017 or Diana Mackey who took part in a previous edition of Miss Philippines Earth or Athena Catriz who was Miss Summer International Philippines a couple of years back or the previously-blogged Glenn Aeela Krishnan sister of Mutya ng Pilipinas Ganiel Krishnan and a deadringer for Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
Here now are the official swimsuit photos of the ladies. Tell me who your favorites are after:
As we all know by now, Miss Global 2016 will be hosted in the Philippines two months from now, with the finals scheduled for September 24, 2016 at the PICC Plenary Hall. And with the hosting, a new crown has also been revealed. This will be the new head adornment of the successor of Jessica Peart of Australia who is the reigning titleholder. And what a lovely crown this is.
Watch out for more exciting updates about Miss Global 2016 soon!

The actual contract signing
Yesterday afternoon was a momentous occasion for both the Miss Global Organization and One Global FDAP (Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines) as the groups signed a contract effectively sealing their long-term partnership in both fashion and pageantry.
FDAP was represented by its President Digna Rosales, while MGO had the beautiful Pauline Sofia Laping leading the united forces that will see a beautiful collaboration, not only for Miss Global Philippines 2016 Camille CJ Hirro and her court, but also for the upcoming hosting of Miss Global 2016 in the country come September 24, 2016 at the PICC Plenary Hall. This will be a big beauty event as all FDAP members will dress up the candidates and eventual winners in swimsuits, evening gowns, cocktail dresses and heels.
Also present during the signing are FDAP’s Dave Ocampo, Don Cristobal and Nere Ku, plus Ms. Rizza of the Miss Global Organization.
Onwards to a strong “Global” bond between the two! 🙂

According to the buzz I got regarding the Ms. Gay Manila 2015 Finals last Wednesday night, Trixie Maristela scored so high on all fronts that only the 1st and 2nd Runner-Up placements were up for grabs going into the decisive Q&A of the Top 5. True or not, the results speak for itself. This smart and beautiful winner – who is also an active advocate of ‘Gender Proud‘ – came through as expected.

A very deserving winner indeed, this Trixie Maristela. (Photo credit for the swimsuit and evening gown photos: Jeff Lobos)
The candidates of Miss Gay Manila 2015 get their make-up training from Jonas Gaffud who took and shared the photo above
Miss Gay Manila 2015 is just like your ordinary beauty pageant with a delightful twist. Now it’s up to you to find out what the twist is and why the City of Manila is all out in supporting this competition.
At the moment, training sessions are the call of the day as the candidates literally underwent a make-up class under Jonas Gaffud. There is no room for swell-headed contenders here, since even the most learned among them should go through the whole process and, perhaps, unlearn some tricks of the trade which may no longer be the best methods in applying skin-deep facial enhancements.
The superficial part of applying make-up properly is just a small portion of the whole thing. More is expected of the joiners. If female beauty contests expect their ladies to be beautiful and brainy, so is Miss Gay Manila 2015. And if good talent can be thrown in for good measure, then so much the better.

The songs are: What Have You Done For Me Lately, Nasty, When I Think of You, Control, Let’s Wait Awhile, The Pleasure Principle, Miss You Much, Rhythm Nation, Escapade, Alright, Come Back to Me, Black Cat, Love Will Never Do, The Best Things in Life Are Free, That’s the Way Love Goes, If, Again, Because of Love, Any Time Any Place, Scream (with Michael Jackson), Runaway, Got ‘Til Its Gone, Together Again, I Get Lonely, Go Deep, What’s It Gonna Be, Doesn’t Really Matter, All For You, Someone to Call My Lover, All Nite, Call on Me, Feedback and her latest #1 single Make Me.
“There will also be a focus on venues that will allow Janet to be up close and personal in a much more intimate setting,” assured the producer. “This show is Janet more revealed, more intimate and more personal than ever before. Don’t look for special effects. Just look at Janet!”
In each of the 35 cities, Janet will dedicate one of her No. 1 songs to the city and will recognize 20 young people whose lives and work have enriched their communities in a major way around the world.
Janet stars in Tyler Perry’s successful and critically acclaimed movie For Colored Girls. Janet recently achieved No. 1 iTunes status with her performance of Nothing, written and produced by her in association with Johnta Austin, Bryan-Michael Cox and Jermaine Dupri for the film Why Did I Get Married Too? in which she also starred. The tune is a contender for the Best Song in a Motion Picture award.
