On Tuesday, two popular ASEAN Miss Universe 2019 representatives will be flying to Atlanta, Georgia for the competition.
First will be Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Christiana Jordi Ganados who is set to depart from NAIA Terminal 2 at 8:00AM. The other one is Puteri Indonesia 2019 Frederika Cull whose flight will leave Terminal 3 of Soekarno Hatta at 8:00PM.
The invites in this blog entry give me the feeling that our countries’ respective pageant fans and supporters want to parallel (if not outdo) the kind of airport send-off that was given to Miss Universe Thailand 2019 Paweensuda Drouin yesterday at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Some would say “gaya-gaya”, while others would quip ”padadaig ba tayo?”. The rest would add “we have nothing to prove anymore.”
#MissUniverse season is definitely in the air!
Video clip above is of Miss Universe Thailand 2019 Paweensuda Drouin when she checked in for her flight to Atlanta, Georgia to join the other candidates competing for Miss Universe 2019. Second clip below shows her inside the Turkish Airlines flight. The Thai pageant fans came in full force to support and see her off.
She is wearing an all-white ensemble by Sirivannavari Bangkok.
Thailand’s National Costumes for Miss Universe have always been anticipated every year. And for the next edition, Miss Universe Thailand 2019 Paweensuda Drouin will be wearing something inspired from the following:
Phi Ta Khon Festival is the unique Thai tradition of Loei province. The original belief of the festival is traditionally ascribed to a story of Vessantara and Maddi when they left the woods and went back to the city. Ghosts and animals in the woods missed them so much that they disguise as local people to see them off to the city. This tradition happened since then and has been passed on until the present time.
Bun Luang and Phi Ta Khon Festival is a part of “Bun Luang event” which is considered a big merit making event of the year. It is the combination of Vessantara merit making (the fourth month) and the Rocket Festival (the sixth month) to be one event. Vessantara merit making is organized for people to listen to the 13 stories of the last great incarnation of the Buddha. It is believed that the merit is so great that it can make you meet Mettreya (the next Buddha) in your next life.
The Rocket Festival is organized to pay respect to city God Shrine and it is also considered as the tradition to bring rain for the season.
In this event there will be a parade of Phi Ta Khon (Ghost Mask) both of the small and big groups dancing and moving around the parade which creates fun and entertainment to the event.
The interesting activities of Bun Luang traditional event and Phi Ta Khon festival are inviting protection from Phra U-pakut, the spirit of the Mun river, blessing ceremony, the parades, inviting Vessantara into town, getting rid of Phi Ta Khon masks, listening to 13 stories of the last great incarnation of the Buddha.
Apart from that there are shows on the stage, the local products for sale, handmade, handicraft, art and idea products created by Dan Sai and Loei local people.
Repost from: Nok Schrinda & Thai Sashes
As expected, heavy favorite Paweensuda Drouin was named Miss Universe Thailand 2019 in Thunderdome at Muang Thing Thani last night! She will now represent Thailand in Miss Universe 2019.
1st Runner-Up is Miriam Sornprommas
2nd Runner-Up is Thanatchaphon Boonsang
Fahsai was crowned by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
On a sidenote, I can still remember that fateful night of May 10, 2018 when Paweensuda Drouin returned to the Philippines to judge Mr & Miss Hannah’s World Tourism Philippines 2018. She was treated to a Filipino buffet at La Fiesta by the late Col. Ricardo Nolasco of Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center. It was during dessert when the subject about her joining Miss Universe Thailand 2019 was discussed at length. The encouragement was just unanimous among everyone present – including ‘Mayor’ Ronald Dominguez, Sir Bobby Casa, Ocsalon Ydnar, Brix Vera, Andy Cayna, RL De Leon Lacanienta, Jed Velasco, Lisel Carangan and yours truly.
And the rest is history as Fahsai – eventually encouraged by our own Miss Universe Catriona Gray (who was still Miss Universe Philippines 2018 at the time) – went on to join her country’s nationals.
And now she is Miss Universe Thailand 2019.
Congratulations my dear! I’m so proud of you!
My running favorites are:
There is no denying her frontrunner status for Miss Universe Thailand 2019.
You already know by now that Miss Universe Thailand 2019 has already started. I want to share with you a video of how they got their assigned numbers to go with the sash with their respective names written on the same.
If height on a pyramid arrangement (with the two tallest automatically getting #20 and #21) was the basis of number assignments in Bb. Pilipinas, there was a drawing of numbers amon the Thais instead.
Watch below and pay close attention to two particular candidates who are familiar to us Filipinos – #9 Patraporn Wang (who was crowned Miss Intercontinental 2014 and who had Kris Tiffany Janson as her 2nd Runner-Up) and #19 Paweensuda Drouin (right photo) who needs no further introduction.
