This is it!
I have been maintaining my Youtube channel #normannormandotcom for quite some time, but it’s only now that I uploaded my first face-to-face vlog. Since we are already entering the #NewNormal of pageantry, it definitely is high time that I start vlogging on top of blogging. Pardon the still-amateurish effort, but I know it will improve in due time.
So for my first feature, I am sharing my early favorites for Miss Philippines Earth 2020. After yesterday’s post about the 33 Eco Angels vying for the crown, here now is my initial shortlist. Do keep in mind that the bulk of the competition will take place next month so the composition of my running picks is still subject to change as every phase of the preliminary events are held progressively.
Please watch by clicking on the link below and don’t forget to hit the #subscribe button as well. You will get more updates and other pageant-related infos on a regular basis.
Thirty-three (33) Eco Angels are on the hunt for Miss Philippines Earth 2020. They now comprise the first-ever Official Candidates for the national pageant’s virtual edition that signals the beginning of a fresh chapter in Philippine pageantry this side of the new normal.
So far, the organizers have already started the online talent competitions, COVID-19 Craze Outfit Challenge and the frequent online discussions about environmental concerns related to the crisis. For months now, the ladies have also remained active in their individual pageant-related posts to make their social media presence more significant.
Soon (or by the end of June perhaps or early July if you will), one of them will win the crown and become our representative in Miss Earth 2020 which – if the lingering pandemic crisis will affect – is going to be another virtual pageant but on a relatively bigger international scale.
Take a look at them first. I will share my potential strong performers on a separate post.
While all of us are engrossed with the simultaneous goings-on at Bb. Pilipinas 2020 and Miss Universe Philippines 2020, the search for this year’s environmental advocates has been progressing at its normal pace with some of the Official Candidates already introduced in posts and updates in the pageant’s Facebook page. Meet some of the Earth Angels for 2020 who are likely to be familiar names and faces for most of you:
First on the list is Sherry Anne Tormes who was part of Bb. Pilipinas twice in the past. Originally, though, she was part of a previous edition of MPE. This is like her return to the competition that could bring her the crowning glory she has been aiming for.
And then we have Patrixia Sherly Santos whose pageant career brought instant recall to the “x” in her first name. She was also a Binibini in the past, aside from taking part in Miss World Philippines, Ambassadress of the World Philippines and the Redvocates Search for AIDS Ambassadors in the country.
Gianna Margarita Llanes was an Official Candidate of Miss World Philippines two years back. Her national pageantry experience brought the confidence in joining other smaller tilts where she was able to shine more strongly. In particular, she made it as 1st Runner-Up during Miss Mandaluyong 2019.
Roxie Baeyens may be the youngest among the six, but she is the one who has already represented the country in an international beauty competition. She emerged 1st Runner-Up during Miss Tourism and Culture Universe 2019 after being named Face of Tourism 2019. She is from Baguio City.
Justiene Ortega is one lady who was able to juggle time between her pageant conquests and gainful employment. It does help when the field of work is in sales and marketing. She was a contender in past stagings of both Miss World Philippines and Miss Tourism Philippines.
Finally, we have Hannah Bithiah Merino – a proud Lagunense who worked as Flight Attendant of Philippine Airlines. This tall lady was crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas Calabarzon before qualifying as one of the fifty lovelies who made the Golden Edition of Mutya ng Pilipinas more colorful.
These six Earth Angels will be joined by other contestants from different parts of the country in Miss Philippines Earth 2020. Watch out for them soon!

37 of the 40 Official Candidates of Miss World Philippines 2019 were announced during the Final Screening held yesterday at the C3 Events Place in Greenhills.
Familiar names who made it are Michelle Marquez Dee, Ilene de Vera, Kayesha Chua, Kristi Banks, Ruffa Nava, Patrixia Sherly Santos, Sammie Anne Legaspi and more. I will update you on all their names in my next blog.
Two new titles will be given this year – Miss Philippines Tourism (in partnership with the Department of Tourism) who will represent the country abroad in a still unannounced competition and Miss Teen Eco International Philippines which is open to ladies 16-19 years old.
More activities will happen for the ladies before the Press Presentation. Grand Coronation Night will be at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on September 15.
Congratulations to the winning #Redvocates who topped REDvocates: The Search for 2018 HIV & AIDS Advocacy Ambassadors last night at the SMX Convention Center at MOA – Joseph Xavier Pili for the male, Patrixia Sherly Santos for the female and Stefania Lopez for the transgender.
As the new HIV/AIDS Advocacy Ambassadors of the Philippines, this troika will join hands with the Department of Health (Philippines) and Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa in generating strong awareness about the #LHIVeFree campaign to eradicate the stigma surrounding HIV testing and prevention.
The hard work will follow but it will be full of purpose and a lot of fun as well.
Kudos as well to your respective courts: Kelvin Kai Angala, Jearu Ed Magbuhat, Shane Quintana Tormes, Precious Olay Neyra, Uly Galagnara and Brigitte Salvatore.
