A peek into the beginnings of Designer Chan Moya
Maxine Medina wearing Chan Moya
When Miss Universe Philippines 2016 Maxine Medina appeared in that pre-65th Miss Universe photoshoot for Aces & Queens and Mercator wearing the flaming red gown that elicited oohs and aahs from pageant followers, many wondered which designer was responsible for the eye-catching garb. Actually, I already blogged about his name months back when it came out. But this is an extended feature on Christian “Chan” Moya from Batangas.
I had an early exposure at an early age in my home town of San Juan, Batangas. My mom is also a designer. I guess it runs in the blood. Mama Renee Salud is a relative. I usually stayed at our workshop and made comments on my mom’s works, giving suggestions and all but never did it cross my mind to go into fashion designing as a career. I am a registered nurse (local and in the US) and even practiced for 3 years at Asian Hospital in Alabang. I was also able to take masteral units and nearing completion. Then I started missing the work that my mom does so I enrolled and completed several courses at FIP before starting to accept clients one at a time. I met Stylist Patrick Henry and he somehow opened doors for me to dress up beauty queens which started with Miss Tourism Metropolitan International 2016 1st Runner-Up Janela Cuaton that led to the red Maxine Medina gown.

I always go for and find pleasure in designs that are simple yet elegant. And in incorporating my client’s vision with my own taste and aesthetics, I learned to trust my judgment when it comes to designing and thinking out of the box from what I had used to see back in my moms workshop. I make sure that there will always be drama in my works that will capture the audience. I always make sure to deliver the best versions of themselves whenever they wear my creation.
While I may have specialized in women’s fashion and bridal creations, I have also started exploring men’s fashion. Hopefully, I can combine all three in an upcoming project this coming July that will be my grandest as a Fashion Designer so far.
Watch out for more about Chan Moya as he starts creating noise in the fashion scene from here onwards. 🙂
Your #Binibini32 in her latest photoshoot with Ahleks Fusilero
With the April 30 Coronation Night of Bb. Pilipinas 2017 just under two weeks away, the question in most pageant watchers’ minds right now is “Who among them is starting to peak in the competition?
“. Might I suggest your #Binibini32 Charmaine Elima as having one of the carefully-planned strategies for the nationals? Even if some people are saying that she is not soaring high enough right after the Press Presentation last March 22, I can say that she is steadily moving up the ranks and with essential noise-making turns defining her moves so far. The “La Reina Emperatriz” National Costume (created by Pablo Mendez III
) that wowed everyone during the photo exhibit is one such moment. She actually amazed even Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta and her “saintly” face registered well on the BPCI Chair. Trust her that the NatCos Competition this week will see her come out with such awe-inspiring presence.
And now this Ahleks Fusilero photoshoot which brought together the group of Stylist Patrick Henry of Ton Lao Styling Team, Make-Up Artist Mary Letim and Hair Expert Marky Buenaobra with Designer Rian Fernandez, Accessories Designer Christopher Munar and shoemaker Jojo Bragais. She is visibly inspired in the shots and is more than ready to slay the onslaught of opponents coming her way.
What is Charmaine Elima’s standing on your scoresheets, dear readers?
Now I ask you, dear readers. Where is #Binibini32 Charmaine Elima standing on your personal scoresheets right now? How are you assessing her gameplan so far? And what title do you think she deserves to win the most?
Let’s start the discussion, shall we? 🙂

Jennifer is brimming with excitement with a tinge of nervousness. And why not? She is tasked with setting the performance bar high for her fellow Bb. Pilipinas 2016 Queens. Will she achieve the desired results?
I am positive that she will do us proud.
You go get that crown, Jennifer! 😉
