The first is a solo interview with Miss Philippines Catriona Gray where you can fully appreciate her eloquence and comfortability in front of the camera.

The second is a group talk with Catriona along with Misses USA, Venezuela, Indonesia and Thailand. Notice the very observable body language and comment-worthy demeanor of host delegate Audra Mari everytime our Queen talks. Very interesting.

Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach wakes up every morning and utters a quick #GameNa (Game on) to start her day on a challenging note before heading to the gym, taking a light breakfast and getting ready for hair and make-up. She does this to push her adrenaline up without fail. And mind you, their schedules are not for the lazy bones.

And as you can watch in the video below, she is very happy with the countless Filipino supporters who are now in Las Vegas to cheer her nonstop.

With the upcoming Preliminaries, our bet is in high spirits. Every single day. #GameNa

A Grateful Blogger

Just like Philippine pageantry, I consider 2013 as my most significant blogging year to date. Aside from achieving all-time high numbers in hits, unique visits, single-day views, and comments, ad revenues have also increased.

123,473 are magic numbers to me. Stat-wise, they represent the highest single-day views last November 10, a day after Miss Universe 2013 was crowned. 6,782,097 is another one. As of 7:30 this morning, the total number of hits has already reached this figure.

Top commenters

The top commenters (excluding myself, of course) have to be acknowledged as well. I consider them (and the rest) as the “vitamins” of this site. Without the discussions, replies, banters, small catfights and all, the posts will be nothing but solitary displays of my crazy-as-clockwork mind. I can live on 4-5 hours of sleep per night, but it is essential that these well-meaninged individuals sustain the drive for readership while my attention is focused somewhere else. I doff my hat to Dexter, Closer2Fame, Sheena, basil, Lavinia Arguelles and Queen_b. But I would also like to cite others like Benjie, Philip, Chrome, HUNK5525, Beauty_Spy, PinayGem, Jen, Mrs. AJ, Chief Justice, Ernest Reyes, Laila, Reydan, mole, Y. This is a surprise Christmas gift I never would have expected

To Sash Factor, thank you for completing my year. My inclusion in your list of 10 Most Influential People in Philippine Pageantry for 2013 is a priceless gift much more valuable than its weight in gold. It will always be remembered.

Right now, the coverage team of OPMB Worldwide has already safely landed in Moscow and gearing up to cover all the important remaining events of Miss Universe 2013 up until the finals night on November 9. Expect more fireworks and finger-licking tidbits to come our way.

Oh, and by the way, they already had the chance to spend a bit of time with the beautiful Miss Philippines Ariella Arida who was visibly elated upon seeing them arrive for the pageant. Important family members are also there. According to them, there’s a lot of positivity surrounding our bet although the good vibes cannot be shared just yet so as not to spoil things up. 🙂

hailtothequeens3 Last Thursday night, I had the privilege of getting an exclusive invite to attend the successful launching of Aces & Queens at the Opus Lounge of Resorts World Manila. While everyone already knows that the group has been in existence since 2001, it is only this year that the topnotch beauty camp has finally decided to take pageants to a higher level of training excellence. Spurred by the inspiring performances of their wards in Miss Universe and the glorious victory of Megan Young in Miss World 2013, the group is entering a new chapter in the transformation of Filipinas into world-class icons of Beauty and Substance. And with the backing of various business supporters, enthusiastic media and online reps and the successful ladies who have brought honor and fame to its name, Aces & Queens will continuously evolve into the best Philippine pageant training studio as well as a more internationally-renowned institution that is just as capable of opening its doors to aspiring young women from other countries in the region.

During the formal launch, five of the several pillars of Aces & Queens – Jonas Gaffud, Arnold Mercado, Mark Besana, Gerry Diaz and John Cuay – were present. Additional dream team members Nad Bronce, Albert Kurniawan and Boyet Blas were cited. Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2011 Shamcey Supsup hosted the event, with the assistance of Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2007 Anna Theresa Licaros. In addition, the ladies in attendance were Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2010 Venus Raj, Miss World Philippines 2012 Queenie Rehman, Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2008 Jennifer Barrientos, Mutya ng Pilipinas winners Barbie Salvador, Carla Lizardo and Zahra Saldana, plus Cassandra Naidas, Mariel de Leon, Rachel Bustamante, Carolyn Ty and Selena Antonio. TV Networks ABS-CBN and GMA-7 covered the event, as well as Kai Magsanoc of Rappler.com, Armin Adina of Philippine Daily Inquirer, Jory Rivera of OPMB Worldwide, Brix Vera/Dencio Natividad of Sash Factor and your blogger.

By the way, what made the whole event more special was an emotional audio message from Miss World 2013 Megan Young who credited A&Q for turning her into the Queen she is right now. She spoke mostly in Tagalog and that made her testimonial more heartfelt.

Watch below. Inspite of the divisive remarks given to our bet, let us still make a concerted effort to support her in whatever way we can. Give her the benefit of your doubts. Ara is doing her best to make us proud in Miss Universe 2013. 🙂

It was a beautiful dinner alright.

Hosted by pageant supporter John Morante and held in honor of A&Q’s Ara and Pia (lovingly called “The Paandar Girls), the Spanish food buffet (at Metrowalk’s Taberna Tapas y Vino) was sumptuous. The drinks overflowed. And the lovely ladies lent their presence to make the night extra special. There’s Miss Universe Philippines 2013 Ara Arida, Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2011 Shamcey Supsup, Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2010 Venus Raj, Bb. Pilipinas 2013 1st Runner-Up Pia Wurtzbach, Bb. Pilipinas-International 2011 Dianne Necio, Bb. Pilipinas-World 2010 Czarina Gatbonton, Miss Supranational Philippines 2012 Elaine Kay Moll, Miss World Philippines 2012 First Princess Mary Ann Ross Misa, Bb. Pilipinas 2011 2nd Runner-Up Mary Jean Lastimosa and Bb. Pilipinas-Tourism 2011 Isabella Manjon. To top it off, Aces & Queens head honcho Jonas Gaffud, together with Arnold Mercado, John Cuay and Mark Besana joined the happy get-together as well.

Here are a few tidbits about some of the girls:

– Up close and personal, Ara Arida is 5x more beautiful than in pictures that we see. Her aura is a mix of sweet, sultry and down-to-earth. Without cameras or videocams tailing around, she moves and speaks in a visibly relaxed state. And oh, she loves her food spicy!

– Pia Wurtzbach is a delight to have dinner with, no pretensions whatsoever. Her face is beautifully hypnotic, just as her stance and sexy body can drive any onlooker crazy.

– I can’t get over the fact that Elaine Moll could no longer compete in a future Bb. Pilipinas because of her Miss Supranational Philippines title which wasn’t even awarded during the 2012 finals night. The girl’s height is enviable and her beauty simple but alluring. She was seated very close and never fails to flash her winsome smile everytime we engage in small talk.

– Mary Ann Ross Misa, to my pleasant surprise, has tentative plans of re-joining Miss World Philippines 2013. And I couldn’t help but give my thumbs up on the spot. She remains ravishing and unquestionably warm. She offered a hug the moment she realized that I am the blogger who featured her more than twice in the past.

– Shamcey Supsup was with boyfriend Lloyd Lee, and it’s very evident that the two lovebirds are very much into each other. Both gamely played along with the banters all throughout the night.

– And Venus Raj? This woman is a lovable character without a doubt. She makes anyone feel at ease in an instant. And I love it that she has noble plans for the future, like putting up a foundation for the education of poor children. Do I smell a political career in a few years’ time?

I wish I could’ve stayed much longer, but early Monday work still beckoned.
