In this entry are some official photos from the Miss Kuyamis 2022 Swimsuit Competition held yesterday at Amaya View.
Congratulations to a successful pre-pageant event. Miss Kuyamis is clearly one of the most well-organized provincial pageants in the Philippines. And kudos to Jimema Tempra of Jasaan (left photo) for being declared #BestInSwimsuit.
The presence of Misamis Oriental Governor Bambi Emano made everything more special, just as the esteemed panel of judges that included Miss Intercontinental Cindy Obeñita, Binibini Araneta City Francesca Taruc, former Mr International Philippines Gil Wagas, Designer Odelon Simpao and PCOL Ranel Valones of the Misamis Oriental PPO.
Aside from the reigning titleholder Dannah Tempra, four of the former winners were also in attendance – Chella Falconer, Isobel Teano, Ana Monica Tan and Berjayneth Chee – all placers in their respective national pageants. Provincial Tourism Officer Atty Jeffrey Saclot was around to make sure that the entire proceedings went as smoothly as possible.
Looking forward to the official swimsuit photos of the ladies, as well as the Finals on January 13 which will be hosted by actor Marco Gumabao.
The morning after when it has all sunk in. With the crown and sash of Miss Intercontinental 2021, Cindy Obeñita is ready to begin a reign she once thought was just a dream.

Hers is a story that can only be aptly described as “magical”.
With practically all the elements of the well-loved fiction – save the presence of the wicked stepmother and stepsisters – she was crowned at almost half past midnight (Egypt time) and had her Prince Charming in the audience incessantly cheering her on.
By no means is this parallel to that “life is stranger than fiction” line. Instead, the beautiful inspirations are all there;
1. Her name says it all – “Cinderella”.
2. Truth be told, she almost did not win the national crown if not for the wildcard opportunity that allowed her to shine on her own merits. The glass shoes really fit.
3. She has not one but two Fairy Godmothers. The first one is Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta of BPCI. And the second one is Atty Jeffrey Saclot (her direct boss at the Misamis Oriental Provincial Tourism Office) who made sure that her journey to Egypt was smooth and problem-free.
4. She has a team of friends who stayed with her all the way through. Call them a glam team or the footmen and coachman. But they supported all her needs from start to finish – Michael Villamor, Odelon Simpao and Maja Blanka.
5. She has her real-life Prince Charming – Henri Lopez – who stood by her, rallied everyone and claimed the crown as early as the day she won BbPilipinas.
This is such a wonderfully victorious journey for Cinderella Faye Obeñita whose success in pageantry is written in the stars. It does not happen to everyone. But then again, she has Lady Luck by her side and worked hard to achieve the win.
Mabuhay ka, Cindy!

Behold your #Binibini15 Cindy Obeñita of Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental in her Bb. Pilipinas National Costume created by Odelon Simpao.
Belleza de Oro
(Notes from the designer)
Legend has it that Cagayan de Oro is resting on the back of a giant goldfish, with its head right under the Cathedral. This is the mythical inspiration of my national costume, a fitting tribute to the Oro, as a gentle creature. On top of the piece is a crown, a homage to Birhen sa Kota who protected the city from invading Moros.
We call this costume Belleza del Oro, beauty of gold.
The whole piece is composed of over 10,000 glittery pieces with dominant circular bangles, representing the golden coconut called kuyamis, abundant in Misamis Oriental and the namesake of its annual festival that celebrates good harvest.
To this day, the legend of the Oro is told and retold. The spirit of the Oro magnifies in the heart of every Kagay-anon, exuding genuine friendship to anyone he/she meets, thus the moniker, City of Golden Friendship.
I take immense pride here at the Binibining Pilipinas to make my beloved Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, shine like gold in the eyes of the world.

Last night at the Grand Ballroom of Solaire Resort and Casino, the Miss Universe Charity Fashion Gala was held in cooperation with Frontrow Cares and Hope for Change Foundation. Our visiting Miss Universe titleholders Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters and Iris Mittenaere – along with our very own Pia Wurtzbach walked the runway for a good cause. Wearing creations by our top designers like Francis Libiran and Rajo Laurel, they were joined by the Miss Universe 2017 national winners who also displayed their taste and elegance in gowns made by the likes of Mark Bumgarner, Frederick Peralta, Edwin Uy, Val Taguba, Rocky Gathercole, Cherry Samuya Veric, Ofelia Simpao and more.
What added special glitter to the event was the presence of six of our Miss Universe Philippines winners – Bianca Manalo, Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup, Ara Arida, MJ Lastimosa and Maxine Medina – who also participated in the fashion show and presented onstage in chronological order of their years in competition.

Last night, the final ancillary event of the 65th Miss Universe was held at Conrad Manila. It was the well-attended National Gift Auction which followed the much-anticipated Designers Showcase where our talented designers took the spotlight where their creations were worn on the runway by the contestants.
As leader-of-the-pack Albert Andrada puts it, “I am so happy and fulfilled to have talked to 87 Filipino fashion designers and to unite them in one of the major ancillary events of the Miss Universe Competition. January 23 will be a night of gift giving, empowered women and a fashion gala of Filipino designers. This is a very rare evening wherein one can witness the Miss Universe’s official candidates wearing the creations of our country’s pride in the fashion industry. To my colleagues in the fashion industry, THANK YOU SO MUCH for your support!!! Mabuhay!” #united #filipinofashiondesigners #missuniverse2017

The photo above of Binibini 17 Diana Arevalo during the National Costume Competition of Bb. Pilipinas 2014 says it all. She wants to win a crown. And she’s working hard to get it.
The Mindoro native is confident that she has what it takes to finally get her long overdue victory this year. And how sweet it can be if she is finally given the chance to represent the Philippines internationally.
She has paid her dues and had to go through two disappointing losses in the past. Can she turn the tide this time around? This blogger hopes that she does. 😉
