This is, personally, a historic photo of sorts for me
Yesterday – and in the midst of the non-stop flurry of Bb. Pilipinas 2020 applicants flooding the office, our 2019 Queens were reunited at nearby Novotel Manila Araneta Center. Gazini, Patch, Resham, Emma, Leren, Aya and Samantha had a good time catching up with each other. They also had a belated birthday celebration for Leren.
The next time these six beauties will get together again should be the Final Screening that will choose this year’s Binibinis. And their serious mode will be back in session by then.

Three years, one month and one week – that will be the exact length of the reign of Rohit Khandelwal as Mr World by the time he awards his successor on August 23 at the Araneta Coliseum. He is happy to be back in the Philippines but will be promptly flying back to India the day after the proclamation night to jumpstart his Bollywood career.
I had a brief one-on-one with Rohit where he answered three questions during the Presscon held at the Anahaw Function Room of Novotel Manila Araneta Center earlier. Watch below.
69 Official Candidates were presented to members of the media in the Mr World 2019 Press Presentation at the Versailles Tent of Novotel Manila Araneta Center. Two more delegates will arrive tomorrow to complete the final roster of 71.
Standouts are the representatives of Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Thailand, England, Dominican Republic, Austria (who’s half-Flipino), Kenya, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and the Philippines.
Julia Morley of MWO attended the event along with reigning Miss World Vanessa Ponce de Leon and former titleholder Stephanie del Valle.

The Mr World 2019 candidates were given a rousing welcome at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center (Official Residence) earlier in the afternoon today. Actually, around half of the expected 88 have already checked-in, with the rest arriving tonight and tomorrow to complete the roster for Thursday’s Press Presentation.
Mr Philippines JB Saliba – looking stylish and spiffy in a Barong Tagalog – was on hand to welcome his new brothers. The atmosphere was very festive as loud banging of rhythmic drums filled the hotel’s lobby.
Between now and August 22, the candidates will have their hands full with different activities and fast-track challenges leading to the finals on August 23 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Watch the video below taken during the Presscon for reigning Miss World Vanessa Ponce de Leon. In it, she admitted that Miss World is no longer a pageant and has become something so much more than just the competition to select the most beautiful.
Now I fully understand why Vanessa won Miss World 2018. She has this very engaging and articulate self that makes you want to ask her a lot of questions. Of course, it’s a given that she is so beautiful up close and personal.

Tonight, four more will arrive – Learie Hall of St. Maarten, Jose Cotto of Puerto Rico, Keaton West of the United States and Alejandro Martinez of the Dominican Republic. The bulk of the expected 88 delegates will check-in tomorrow, August 6.
