Maxine Medina sees no reason why a back-to-back is out of reach
Earlier during a rainy send-off hosted by Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc. at the Versailles Tent of the Novotel Manila Araneta Center, Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina was showered with all the warm wishes and positive thoughts that will set her up for the 65th Miss Universe on the right note. Our Queen is brimming with beauty and confidence that one can’t help but think that – indeed – a back-to-back win is not at all impossible. When asked to name at least two contestants who could be thorns in her path to victory, she simply answered “no one” because she is visualizing herself as the successor of Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach come January 30. You might think that she may have gone overconfident. But no, she delivered her answer in such a tempered manner that you can feel the sincerity stemming from within.

Maxine shared that her training has been comprehensive and the only thing she asks for are prayers from all Filipinos to guide and see her through each step of the way. There is no doubt that she will forge ahead and prove to all and sundry that the host delegate deserves to be the next. She has done her homework and would not want nothing more than to give the Filipinos the gift of victory right before our very eyes.
Here is Miss International Kylie Verzosa’s message to Maxine.
Now here is Maxine’s younger sister Ferica with the heartfelt message she is sending to her “Ate“.
And here is boyfriend Marx Topacio with his message for Maxine.

From all of us here at normannorman.com, achieve the back-to-back dream Maxine! You can do this one #ForThePhilippines!
When Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa guested on CNN Philippines for “The Source” (In Focus) of host Pinky Webb, she detailed the trail that she prepared herself for in Tokyo, Japan. Her preparations were mind-boggling for an utterly lazy or simple-minded individual. And only someone with focus and great determination could deliver on what she promised to the entire nation.

Now that we’re done with that, I just want to remind everyone that today is the scheduled homecoming parade (see image below) of Miss International 2016 around Araneta Center. It will start at around 4:00PM from the Novotel Manila Araneta Center area and end at the Araneta Coliseum right beside it. A program will be held around the Food Park area after.
Details of the Homecoming Parade at 4pm
Don’t miss this one. Make sure that you find time to shower her with all your love and gratitude for giving us one of the best Christmas gifts ever. 🙂
Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa and I
Kylie with parents Ari & Raquel
While today may have been a long and tiring day for all members of the media, the invite to the Arrival Presscon of Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa was something everyone looked forward to regardless of the time and venue on a traffic-laden Friday night. Not even our Queen was spared as she had to brave through EDSA coming from Terminal 2.
But Kylie was such a sight to behold when she finally appeared at Monet 3 Ballroom of the Novotel Manila Araneta Center. She made a grand entrance that was applauded by all guests and went on to answer questions with such graceful confidence.
There will be a Homecoming Parade around Araneta Center on November 18. She will also get the biggest welcome and parade ever in Baguio City on November 26-27.
I will let all the videos in this blog feature do all the talking. Watch them now.

Earlier in the afternoon at the Versailles Tent Event Center of Novotel Manila Araneta Center, the twin send-off for Bb. Pilipinaw 2016 Queens Joanna Eden/Nichole Manalo and arrival presscon for Miss Grand International 2016 1st Runner-Up Nicole Cordoves were held for the attending members of the media.
Both Joanna and Nichole were at their loveliest that I could almost swear that they will bring home the crowns in their respective missions – the former with our 2nd Miss Supranational win (in Slovakia and Poland) and the latter with a back-to-back 2nd country victory in The Miss Globe (in Albania).
Here now are videos which form part of their thank you messages earlier.
Nicole Cordoves, on the other hand, was her usual articulate self all throughout the simultaneously-held Arrival Presscon in her honor. She gamely answered “Trump”-related questions from the Press and said that she would not change a single thing in every move that she made in Las Vegas. She proudly displayed her 1st Runner-Up trophy to the delight of many.

From all of us here at normannormam.com, we wish Joanna Eden and Nichole Manalo the very best in their competitions abroad. Bring home the crowns #ForThePhilippines.

BPCI’s Gines Enriquez – who is getting so good at doing the BTS videography of our Bb. Pilipinas Queens – has this, his latest vid which shows the behind-the-scenes of the photoshoot conducted by Raymond Saldaña atop Novotel Manila Araneta Center.
The shots should come out very soon! But for now, be happy with these footages from the said pictorial. 🙂

Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach by Joy Arguil
Your blogger asking his first question for Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach
During last Thursday after-lunch Press Conference at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center, members of the media were allowed two (2) questions each during the open mic. I hurriedly joined the queue because – as previously experienced – getting at the end of the line could mean asking just one due to lack of time.
Queen P listening to my question intently
My first Q was: “If you had the power as Miss Universe to choose the next Miss Universe Philippines, what qualifications would you be looking for?”
She actually gave a very lengthy reply. But to give the gist of her thoughts, she would look for someone who really shows the hunger for the crown, someone who wants to wear it with pride and commitment. She added that the responsibility is huge and the next winner should look at the demands more wholistically. She must always look forward to what she will do next and how she will prepare for the same, such as what awaits her the day after winning or the following weeks or a month before leaving for the big competition. It goes without saying that Miss Universe Philippines 2016 has mighty big shoes to fill, and that she has to really give her devotion to live up the role and be an all-around inspiration for the Filipinos here and abroad.
Queen P answering my 2nd question
For my 2nd question, I asked something light because the air inside Monet 2 was already in such a serious state. “What do you intend to cook for us in your next online video?”
With a more relaxed smile this time around, Queen P stated that the cooking part might now be over because it took them such a long time to film that particular segment. She is now more interested in featuring some of the more interesting beaches in the Philippines, such as those in Boracay Island and Panglao in Bohol. She feels that it would give watchers a more varied peek into what the Philippines can offer to the tourists.
