This one will happen on May 13 at the Music Hall of SM MOA

This coming May 13 at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia, another edition of the yearly Flores de Mayo will unfold with thirty (30) designers participating with their respective muses and escorts. This is the 38th Flores de Mayo 2017 “Fatima” which will showcase the works of the following individuals (in order of their parade appearances):

Dave Ocampo, Obet Orajay, Nickky Martinez, Johnny Abad, Erich Miñoza, Vince Sityar, Russ Cuevas, Paolo Blanco, Leslie Rivera, Rey Lazaro, Gil Granado, Roy Aquino, Marlo Javier, Jontie Martinez, Joms de Castro, Adam Balasa, Piter Otordos, Louis Pangilinan, Rowell Panlilio, Pencil Diestra, Sonyboy Mindo, Christopher Quejano, Pepe Quitco, Marjorie Lee Gumabay, Ole Morabe, Edwin Uy, Yeye Pantaleon, Chico Estiva, Rholand Roxas and Renee Salud.

Below are twenty-seven of the sketches that you will see come to life on May 13.

Your Binibini 25 Clarice Villareal comes from the Galatea Family of Jontie Martinez


Your Binibini 25 is the sole entry of Galatea Family of designer-siblings Jontie and Nickky Martinez. She is Clarice Marion Elbo Villareal, 23 years old, and comes from Antipolo City. This 5’8″ Architecture graduate from the University of Santo Tomas has varied interests which include painting, playing the guitar and playing volleyball.

How does Clarice feel that she got in as Official Candidate of Bb. Pilipinas 2017?

“Everything still feels surreal. I wasn’t expecting I’d actually land a spot in the Top 40 official candidates of this year’s Binibining Pilipinas – given that I am inexperienced and an independent candidate. Just months before, I attempted to enter a major beauty camp although unfortunately, I didn’t get in. Needless to say, it was really disheartening for me which is why going to the screening was actually a snap decision I made just two weeks prior to it.


Many thanks to my family and my handlers who lifted my spirit up, coached me and guided me. Without them, I really wouldn’t be here. Also, one thing I wouldn’t forget, prayers do work; there is nothing a prayer can’t answer. This journey is going to be a one tough ride but I am now ready to face it with conviction and full determination.”

These six beauties come from the smaller pageant training groups for Bb. Pilipinas 2016

 
We are already familiar with them – the four individuals who have formed their own smaller camps to train and polish ladies for Bb. Pilipinas 2016. And mind you, it really takes a lot of effort and sacrifices to even get through the tough screening of the nationals. So I give my well-deserved kudos for entering two (2) Official Candidates each to:

John Dela Vega of Team JDV who has Jeslyn Santos and Christianne Ramos making it.

RL de Leon Lacanienta of R-L’s Angels for getting in Angelique de Leon and Daziella Gange.

The siblings Jontie & Nickky Martinez of Galatea for stepping it up for Jennyline Carla Malpaya and Leonalyn dela Cruz

Truth be told, each one of them can give really good fights in the competition despite being the Davids to the Goliaths of Aces & Queens and KF. During last Friday’s screenings, in fact, Angelique de Leon (for her wit and joie-de-vivre), Jeslyn Santos (for her much improved version) and Jennyline Carla Malpaya (for her very exotic features and color) registered very well among members of the panel.

Also, you just cannot simply count out Daziella Gange who is Miss Heritage Pilipinas 2015 (she represented us and placed 1st Runner-Up during Miss Heritage in South Africa), Christianne Ramos who is Miss Charity Queen Philippines 2015 (she represented us during Miss Charity Queen International 2015 in Taiwan) and Leonalyn dela Cruz, a Professional Model who has vastly gained a lot of experience on the ramp to strut her way more confidently.

Who will shine bright? JDV, R-L or Galatea?

We shall see! 😉

All of the group’s fashion geniuses and accessories specialists will be on hand to dress up the candidates in their best efforts yet.

Names like Fanny Serrano, Nardie Presa, Eric Delos Santos, Edwin Uy, Yako Reyes, Dexter Alazas, Ulysses King, Roland Lirio, Simon Ariel Vasquez, Jontie Martinez, Nickky Martinez, Edgar San Diego, Ramon Esteban, Christopher E Munar, Jerome Navarro and more will take to the task of transforming the ladies into fine representations of the true global Filipina.
