The National Directors have already been informed about a few important details that will be observed during the 69th Miss Universe Pageant in Hollywood, Florida:
1) The National Costume Show will be produced LIVE on location. While it is categorized as optional, everyone is encouraged to participate. It will be held 5-6 days before the Finals on May 16. Conditions are that the candidates themselves are responsible for unpacking, packing and removing* the costume from the venue after the show is finished.
2) There will be NO national gift auction for this edition. Delegates should no longer bring a national gift.
3) Due to COVID, the delegates should NOT bring gifts for the other contestants.
The Miss Universe Organization will be following all COVID guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.
* – the heavier the ensemble, the harder it is to individually carry/pull/drag everything, I reckon. So will we see “lighter” costumes this year?
The Miss Universe 2019 Preliminary Competition and National Costume Show will be held at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis on December 6.
Now as per my research, the said property has three ballrooms: Atrium, Marquis and International. It would be logical to conclude that one of the three will be the specific venue for the two-in-one event.
Given a likely theatre arrangement, the Atrium Ballroom will seat more than the other two. So I’m guessing it will be held there specifically.
At least it won’t be the Mezzanine Level like that of Miss Universe 2017. But still, doing big Miss Universe pre-pageant events like these two in a hotel ballroom leaves much to be desired.
I know you’ve waited so long for this, dear readers. Here’s our very own Shamcey Supsup in her first ‘On the Scene’ webisode featuring the Miss Universe 2012 candidates during the National Costume Show. Enjoy!

You wouldn’t want to miss these special dates. Of course, December 13 is the night of the crucial Preliminaries. The following evening will be the National Costume Show. And on the most important day itself, internationally popular singing group (and one of my faves) Train will guest live.
Of course, even if you’re not in Vegas, you can still watch them on Live Streaming in (hopefully) real-time. 😉
P.S. Time zone difference will have these shows aired/live streamed in the Philippines at around 9am the morning after.
