Miss Norfolk Island in Miss Earth 2015?

Remember my previous post about two Miss Australia beauties – Nadine Roberts and Dayanna Grageda – arriving in Manila for Miss Earth 2014?

Well, that small saga might have already been settled by now without any unnecessary catfights and the like. You all know by now that Nadine Roberts is already the proud wearer of the Australian sash. But still, Dayanna Grageda remains vacationing in Manila and making her presence felt in a way.

Enter Norfolk Island.

This tiny island between Australia/New Zealand and New Caledonia – which is part of the Commonwealth of Australia as one of its two non-mainland territories – will reportedly be represented in next year’s Miss Earth by Dayanna.

image These photo grids make up only 52 of the 89 (or roughly 58%) expected delegates who will participate in Miss Earth 2014. Arrivals have started, initially in trickles. The busload of contenders will be coming in, one after the other, starting today till Sunday, November 9. A few of them will still be checking in Monday, but all heads should already be accounted for by then.

Tuesday, November 11, is the scheduled Press Presentation at the newly-opened Green Sun Hotel in Pasong Tamo Ext. in Makati City.

P.S. The inclusion of Nadine Roberts as Miss Australia above could still be subject to change. There is still no final word if it will be her or Dayanna Grageda. Both ladies are in Manila now.

So can someone explain to me why the supposedly dethroned Miss Earth Dayanna Grageda (2nd from right) is already in Manila and set to attend the ABS-CBN Foundation's 25th Anniversary together with (left to right): Miss Philippines Earth Jamie Herrell, Miss Earth Mexico Yeleni Carillo, Miss Philippines Water Kim Covert and Princess Manzon of Carousel Productions?


As Peter Sereno of Dear Pageant Girl stated, “and the plot thickens!” with a hashtag #fastenyourseatbelts.

Why is supposedly dethroned Miss Earth Australia Dayanna Grageda already in Manila with Carousel Productions? The new Miss Earth Australia Nadine Roberts is all set to depart for Manila on Wednesday.

So who will be officially recognized as the one true Miss Earth Australia for Miss Earth 2014?

I have already blogged in the past about the questionable circumstances under which Dayanna Grageda was dethroned as Miss Earth Australia 2014 and her 3rd Runner-up Nadine Roberts was immediately appointed as replacement.

Is there a controversy just waiting to break wide open in a few days?

This I have got to watch and find out.

Just when I thought that Australia will be represented by a Latina – Dayanna Grageda – in Miss Earth 2014, here comes a new development where she is being replaced for being “unable to fulfill her duties” as Miss Earth Australia 2014.

In Dayanna’s place, Nadine Roberts – who placed as one of the three elemental court winners or Miss Fire in particular – is scheduled to go to Manila now. And this is where I started having a few more creases on my forehead. Why send the 3rd Runner-up instead of considering first the two ladies ahead of her (Miss Air Zinnia Jothi Janif and Miss Water Chelsea Lewis) in placement?

I started to dig deeper. With significant contacts from Down Under just a quick Facebook chat away, startling new details began to unfold.

Time to make use of the word ‘allegedly‘ in healthy doses now.

First things first. The alleged reason why Dayanna Grageda was stripped of the crown is “because she wore her winning crown and sash at the Miss International Australia 2014 Finals in support of Miss Earth and her friends. Apparently, she didnā€™t get permission to attend the event so they took her title away”

In addition to this, there were allegedly unfounded issues regarding sponsorship with the Australia-wide well known boutique store Sheike, aside from allegedly not fulfilling the talent training demands for the big competition. For this, sources are allegedly stating the opposite.

A surprising discovery was getting information from Carousel Productions here in Manila that the submitted documents for Miss Earth Australia was already in the name of Nadine Roberts and not the crowned winner Dayanna Grageda. The submission allegedly took place even before the dethronement happened. So was it all planned early on and their CEO Roselyn Singh was just allegedly waiting for the other shoe to drop figuratively?

Yes, there really could be trouble brewing in the Miss Earth Australia Organization. And the kettle is already whistling loud enough for everyone to hear. Someone pull the plug!

Dayanna Grageda is Manila-bound for Miss Earth 2014

At the Sydney Town Hall last weekend, Dayanna Grageda finally got her wish fulfilled. She is now Miss Earth Australia 2014 and Down Under’s Official Representative to Miss Earth 2014 happening in Manila this coming November.

The pretty Latina Australian thought then that Miss World Australia was her calling. Courtney Thorpe took that one, though. But never the quitter, she decided to give pageants another try and was just so thrilled that she bagged the crown that would make her the Earth Warrior of the World’s Largest Continent in the process.

Dayanna’s elemental court is made up of Miss Air Australia Zinnia Jothi Janif, Miss Water Australia Chelsea Lewis and Miss Fire Australia Nadine Roberts.

nadineroberts21 In my opinion, the only thing up against the favor of Nadine Roberts winning Miss Earth Australia 2014 is the fact that last year’s winner, Renera Thompson, was similarly of Polynesian (Samoan) descent.

You see, the beautiful Nadine – currently a Commerce major at the University of Western Sydney – is half-English, half-Fijian, but altogether Australian. She could be the right Down Under representative who can give her country a very first Miss Earth victory. She already participated in Miss Earth Australia 2013 where she placed 1st Runner-Up (or Miss Air). In a previous article on The Leader, she stated her admiration for beauty pageants “because they celebrated femininity and embraced a worthy cause.”

Will Nadine finally nail the top spot and book a trip to Macau, China PR for Miss Earth 2014? I’m keeping my fingers crossed for that. šŸ˜‰
