Ireland’s Kamal Ibrahim wins Mr. World 2010

Kamal Ibrahim of Ireland bested 73 other delegates from around the globe to win the title of Mr. World 2010 held last night at the Songdo Convention A in Incheon, Korea. The 24 year-old Italian-Nigerian model from Limerick is followed by 1st Runner-Up Josef Karas of the Czech Republic ,with the 2nd Runner-Up honors going to Kenneth Okolie of Nigeria.

The two other finalists in the Top 5 are Abdel Balaa of Lebanon and Honza Filipi of the Netherlands.

Tonight Ireland has scooped the prestigious title of Mr World 2010. The most desirable man in the world. Ireland trained long and hard to achieve this peak of excellence, including months of exercise, rest and healthy eating.
‘My family are going to be so proud” said the new Mr World. “I just can’t wait to get back home and see them” he said.

Second place in Mr World 2010 went to Czech Republic with Nigeria coming third. After the winning moment the winner and runners up faced the world’s media on stage at the Songdo ConvensionA, Incheon City.

After nearly three weeks in Korea’s tomorrow city, the Mr World 2010 contestants took to the stage to compete in the greatest international search for the World’s most desirable man.

To be in with a chance of winning, the 74 contestants were stretched to the limits in a series of challenges to test their character, stamina and determination to succeed in as much as physical appearance, style and presentation.

During the two week build up to tonight’s final they were put through their paces with extreme fitness tests, learned to cook Korean style and had Tae Kwon Doe lessons from a black belt master. They also visited stunning palaces, temples and the national museum, immersing themselves in the local culture.

During their time in Korea, the Mr World contestants toured the country. During their travels around Korea, they competed in three fast track events, where the winner was automatically placed in the top fifteen. Korea was judged to be the most talented with his singing performance of the song ‘Only Once’, which won him the Talent Final competition in Gyeong ju. The Sports Final champion was Czech Republic, no surprise as he’s a former professional biathlete! The Top Model Final was very special as the contenders modelled clothes designed by Andre Kim, Korea’s most celebrated designer. Brazil took home the accolade in front of international media at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Incheon.

The Mr World 2010 Final took place on Saturday 27th March at the Songdo ConvensionA, in the Korea’s city of tomorrow, Incheon.

The grand finals of Mr. World 2010 will be held tonight at the Songdo Convesia in Incheon, Korea. From among the 69 official delagates, I have shortlisted the 15 guys whom I feel will make it. The list includes automatic semifinalists Mr. Czech Republic Josef Karas, Mr. Brazil Jonas Salzbuch and Mr. Korea Ji Kwang-Yoo who won the Sports, Top Model and Talent competitions, respectively. I’m certain that Mr. Korea will be in the Top 3 (or a runner-up slot if you will) and the troika could be completed by any two among Spain, Venezuela Mexico, Cyprus or Czech Republic.

Mr. World 2010 Update: Mr. Czech Republic wins Mr. World Sports and gets fast-tracked to the semis

Josef Karas, Mr. Czech Republic in the ongoing Mr. World 2010 competition in Incheon, Korea bagged the Mr. World Sports award and got automatically fast-tracked to the semifinals tomorrow night.

Mr. Czech Republic Josef Karas wins Mr. World Sports and goes straight to the semifinals.

Josef Karas from the Czech Republic has just emerged champion in the Sports Finals of Mr. World 2010 held just this afternoon.

Josef, who is a top sportsman and decathlon champion in Czech Republic, is 31 years old and stands 6’3″.

Sports is really on top of Josef’s mind as he plans to put up a sports consulting centre someday.

The Sports Finals was the third and last fast track event of Mr. World 2010. As Mr. World Sports winner, Mr. Czech Republic has been fast-tracked to the semis joining Top Model winner Jonas Sulzbach from Brazil and Mr. Talent Ji-Kwang Yoo from Korea.

The Czech candidate has actually been doing so good throughout the competition. He was a finalist in the Talent Fast Track and was 2nd place during last night’s Top Model competition.

He also exceled during their Taekwondo session and topped the 100m Relay Race.

Declared 1st Runner Up during the Sports Finals was Mr. Norway Chris Andre Eileng while Maltese candidate Mark Spiteri was the 2nd Runner Up.

Top 8 finalists were Mr. Belarus Mihail Baranov, Mr. Cyprus Christos Christodoulides, Mr. Mexico Alvaro Alvarez, Mr. Thailand Rattasart Rungsirithip & Mr. South Africa Jaco De Bruyn.

Mr. World 2010 Updates: Brazil & Korea win fast-track events to the semifinals

Mr. Brazil Jonas Sulzbach wins Mr. World Top Model and gets fast-tracked to the semifinals.

Two Mr. World contestants have earned for themselves tickets to the Mr. World 2010 semifinals on March 27. Mr. Brazil Jonas Salzbuch and Mr. Korea Ji Kwang-Yoo have been named Mr. World Top Model and Mr. World Talent, respectively. This special awards gave them fast-track access to the competition.

Regarding the Mr. World Talent segment, here is the report from the official pageant website:

The Ballroom at the Hilton in Gyeongju was full of Mr World contestants, dignitaries and honorary guests on Thursday evening as performers from 20 countries around the world took part in the Mr World Talent Final.

The Mayor of Gyeongju opened proceedings with an address. This was followed by Miss World and Miss Korea taking the stage as special guest judges for the evening. This was followed by an amazing performance by the Tae Kwon Doe national demonstration team. It was an exceptional illustration of the strength and grace needed to compete in the sport with some death defying moves that got the crowd onto their feet.

The main event then began with some great performances, including a warrior dance from Kazakhstan, a singing performance from Korea, a piano recital from Belgium, a graceful fitness and samurai routine from Russia, a beautifully choreographed slow-motion dance from Kenya and a mesmerising magic show from Venezuela.

But the night belonged to KOREA His fantastic performance made him the deserved Mr World Talent Champion. He was congratulated by all Mr World contestants as he collected the accolade and he was very modest and humble about his performance, which left a lasting impression on those who witnessed it.

The top three were announced as:

1. Korea
2. Belgium
3. Russia

The rest of the top six were announced as South Africa, Kenya and Venezuela.

Updates: Mr. World 2010 pre-pageant challenges

Below is an update from the ongoing Mr. World 2010 competition in Incheon, Korea. The candidates were fielded in a number of sports challenges to test their physical fitness and teamwork. They were divided into four color-coded groups and, so far, the Red Team (which includes Mr. World-Philippines Alvin de Joya) is proving to be the winningest of the lot.

Mr World Red team wins in the Marine Training challenge

The Top 5 challengers from each of the 4 groups of Mr. World 2010 delegates faced each other this Monday morning, March 15, for another sports challenge, a marine training with the Korean Marine Corps.

20 challengers (5 each from the Black, Blue, Red and Yellow teams) embarked on a physically-challenging boat race on a beach at the Silmi Island in South Korea.

And the Red Team emerged as champion which was composed of Mr. Philippines Alvin De Joya, Mr. Russia Sergey Kolenchikov, Mr. Sweden Alexander Shirpey, Mr. South Africa Jaco de Bruyn and Mr. USA Ivan Rusilko. Congrats guys! These 5 have proven that they are the most physically-fit of them all.

In 2nd place was the Yellow Team.

Marines don’t faze Red Team as they triumph at army base
Mr World soldiers from each group battled it out under the watchful eye of Korean Marine Corps this morning as they took part in a training exercise at a military base in Silmi Island.

Dressed in army outfits provided by the Marines they went through a dicipline routine with a ‘Byung-Jang’, the South Korean equivalent to an officer. The point of the exercise was to install dicipline, commitment and concentration. The Mr World cadets responded to their commands by marching to the army whistle and giving the official Korean salute.

The test ended on the beach of the island where the teams did some more stamina building exercises. After completing the exercises there was one last challenge. They had to race each other round a 500m course, but there was a catch. They had to carry a 100kg boat on their heads during the race!

First the Yellow team defeated the Blues, who were leading until the last 10 metres, in a very close contest. Then the Red team beat the Blacks, who were disqualified for dropping the boat. The two winners faced each other in a tense final which saw the Red’s pip the Yellow team to the finish line and they deserved to be crowned Mr World Marine Champions.

The Marine Training contestants were:

Black Team: Netherlands, Norway, Mexico, Macedonia FYRO and Lebanon

Red Team: Sweden, United States, South Africa, Russia and Phillipines

Blue Team: Belarus, Cyprus, Angola, Denmark and Canada

Yellow Team: France, Guadeloupe, Ireland, Kazakhstan & Kenya

Alvin de Joya, recently selected as Mr. World-Philippines 2010, was feted by Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) to a formal send-off to the Mr. World 2010 which will be held in Incheon, Korea. The finals will be on March 27. He will be competing with at least 50 male representatives from around the world.

Mr. World-Philippines 2010 winners

It’s 2am and the winners of Mr. World-Philippines 2010 have just been announced during GMA-7’s Master Showman Presents. Alvin de Joya, chinky-eyed (Korean-looking) representative from Cauayan, Isabela and one of the tallest at over 6’1″, will be representing the country in the Mr. World 2010 to be held in Incheon, Korea on March 27. He was in tears after being selected as the top winner. First Runner-Up is Jericho Intacto, while Mr. Photogenic Jason Villegas placed 2nd Runner-Up. The two other guys in the Top 5 are Jomar Cosme and Christian Daniel.

Other special Awardees are Jayson Acero (Best in Talent and Mr. Friendship co-winner), Christian Daniel (Best in Formal Wear), Robert John Porter (Mr. Friendship co-winner). On hand to relinquish his title is Emmanuel Mago, Mr. World-Philippines 2007. Mr. World is held every 3 years which explains the jump.

Mr. World-Philippines 2010 to be chosen tonight

Here’s the press release for Mr. Philippines-World 2010 (being organized by Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc.) which will culminate in the selection of the winner tonight during Master Showman Presents on GMA-7. I must say that the screenings and preparations for this year’s competition have been quick and easy. The international contest will already start reeling in next month in Korea which beckons the need to have a national winner who will represent the country in time for the same.

The search for the Philippine representative to the Mr. World competition culminates on Feb. 27, 2010 at German Moreno’s Master Showman on GMA 7. On this night, 17 handsome Filipino men will vie for the title of Mr. World Philippines 2010 and will go on to compete in the finals to be held in Korea the “Land of the Morning Calm”, in March this year.

Mr. World, which was organized in 1996 by the same group that stages the prestigious annual Ms. World Beauty Pageant, has been conducting the international yearly search for that man with the elusive X-factor since its inception. After more than a decade, the pageant haw grown considerably in popularity, so much to the eighty countries are noe slated to compete in the March 27, 2010 competition in Incheon, Korea. The last Mr. World-Philippines search was held in February 2007, where Emmanuel “Bhobby”Mago, an aspiring basketball coach, won the much coveted titile.

All 17 candidates will be squaring off on pageant night, the culmination of personality development training and orkouts. Aside from their physical attributes, their intellect, talents, charm; and wit, as well as character, will all be appraised by a panel of judges comprised of well-known personalities from the fields of business, fashion, and entertainment.

The Mr. World-Philippines 2010 winner will see stiff competition in Korea with 80 other representatives from all over the world flying in for the pagant. Contestants will not only be asked to model menswear and sportswear but, more importantly, will also “be tested on their strength, perseverance, mental agility, and determination against a backdrop of some of Korea’s most spectacular locations”.

Locally, Mr. World-Philippines is being staged by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI), which has been responsible for grooming beauties for the Ms. Universe, Ms. International and Ms. World pageants. The finals will be held on February 27, 2010, live on German Moreno’s Master Showman.

Mr. World-Philippines is presented by Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc., in cooperation with Araneta Center Inc. and GMA 7.
