Miss Philippines Earth and Miss Earth 2014 Jamie del Rosario Herrell is enjoying whatever’s left of a long break before plunging head first into the busy weeks ahead for Miss Philippines Earth 2015. She spent part of lent with friends Monique Manuel, Debbie Garcia and Stephanie Sol at Camaya Beach in Bataan.
Starting next week till May, the pre-pageant activities will actively commence once all of this year’s Earth warriors have already been accounted for. And Jamie will be at the forefront of everything, being the reigning title holder and all.

You’ll be busy as a bee, Jamie. And by the time your national successor has been crowned, it will be just a short couple of months wait before picking up the pace again for Miss Earth 2015. š

This is the Bb. Pilipinas batch that had the most number of memorable joiners and original qualifiers. I stress on the word ‘original’ because there was a couple of disqualifications/withdrawals along the way that spoiled the forty (40) Official Candidates like Grendel Alvarado and Roxanne CabaƱero. At any rate, consider these names who went on to greater heights (or otherwise) after the edition was over. Outside the titleholders Shamcey Supsup, Dianne Necio and Isabella Manjon, there are:
1) Janine Tugonon who went on to win Miss Universe Philippines the following year and claimed 1st Runner-Up honors in Miss Universe 2012 held in Las Vegas.
2) MJ Lastimosa who went on to win Miss Universe Philippines three years later and will now represent us in the 63rd Miss Universe Pageant in Doral Miami.
3) Queenie Rehman who went on to join and win Miss World Philippines 2012 and placed in the Top 15 of Miss World 2012 in Ordos.
4) Zephora Mayon who already won Mutya ng Pilipinas 2007 but abdicated her title, and took a risk by resurfacing in this batch with less success.
5) Glennifer Perido who went on to join and win Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International 2014 and is now in Kuala Lumpur representing us in Miss Tourism International 2014/15.
6) Patricia Tumulak who never won Bb. Pilipinas despite being a heavy crowd favorite, and is now looking at taking part in Miss Multiverse 2015 scheduled in the Dominican Republic a few months from now.
7) Suzette Hernandez who, after failures in nailing a Bb. Pilipinas title, joined Mutya ng Pilipinas, got Runner-Up placement, migrated to Canada and became that country’s rep to Miss Supranational 2013 won by Mutya Datul.
8) Samantha Purvor who found her calling in Miss Philippines Earth where she captured one of the national elements last 2012.
9) Chloe McCully who took part in Miss World Philippines 2011 afterwards and became 2nd Princess to Gwen Ruais.
10) Bernadette Aguirre and Monique Manuel who had somewhat similar destinies when they joined separate editions of Miss Philippines Earth and won the same title of Miss Eco-Tourism.
11) Angelia Ong who found relative success as 2nd Runner-Up in Miss Manila 2014 won by KC Halili.
12) Tina Marasigan who gave up on pageantry and focused on TV hosting and Courtside reporting where she is doing fairly well up to now.
13) Sabrinne Al-Tawil and Luzelle Felipe, two beautiful candidates who never re-joined and embarked on different career paths where they got assurances of better income.
14) Wendy Lucas who became our rep in a smaller international beauty pageant (Miss Tourism Intercontinental 2010) before joining this edition.
15) Krystle Ann Grant who was Miss Philippines Air 2007 but joined in 2011 as Krystle Ann Dizon. Her tracks were stopped at this point and she was set back from a previous success.
16) Bianca Paz who was never a winner here, but made the rounds of different national competitions, got runner-up wins in two batches of Miss World Philippines and another runner-up spot in the last Miss Philippines Earth.
17) And of course, who can forget Diana Arevalo who has less than fortunate participations in three (3) Bb. Pilipinas competitions (including this one).
Care to add more memorable insights on the remaining ladies in this group? š

Just the other night, Kagandahang Flores organized a small get-together to celebrate the camp’s recent pageant victory with the crowning of Eva Psychee Patalinjug as Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia-Pacific International 2014 last week.
Rodgil Flores was around to welcome guests, as well as to proudly show his happiness in having scored another win in the national level. To give their congratulations to Eva, fellow Cebuanas Bb. Pilipinas-Intercontinental 2014 Kris Tiffany Janson and Miss Philippines Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell showed up, in addition to Miss Philippines Air 2014 Diane Querrer and Miss Philippines Eco-Tourism 2014 Monique Manuel.
I’m sure KF is pumped even more to field their strong entries to Miss World Philippines 2014, hoping to achieve a rare Grand Slam for 2014. š

Shout for joy after being called winner.
The Philippine elements of 2014 have been crowned. And the results did not really come as a big surprise anymore. Making it as Miss Philippines Earth 2014 (and the country’s official representative to Miss Earth 2014) is Jamie Herrell of Cebu City. Comprising her elemental runners-up are Miss Philippines Air Diane Querrer, Miss Philippines Water Kimberly Covert, Miss Philippines Fire Ma. Paula Bianca Paz and Miss Philippines Eco-Tourism Monique Manuel.
The five others in the Top 10 are Angelie Crizelle Ocampo, Melanie Balagtas, Crystal Star Aberasturi, Ma. Jenny Gonzales and Bencelle Bianzon. Meanwhile, five ladies eliminated earlier in the semifinals included Mary Ann Ross Misa, Janelle Tee, Ashlejane Alcancia, Leslie Ann Pine and Sarah Theresa Stewart.
Three Very Special Awards were also handed out last night with Jamie Herrell bagging Miss Solaire Resort & Casino, Kimberly Covert getting Miss SM Supermarket and Janelle Tee clinching Miss Hana Shampoo.
Enjoy your reign, ladies! (Photo credit: Melvin Sia)
Congratulations to all the winners! Stay queenly, humble and warm all throughout your reign. š

You can help one of the ten (10) short-listed girls above and left to win the very special title of Miss Hana in Miss Philippines Earth 2014 by liking their photos in this LINK on the Hana Philippines Facebook page.
The finalists for the award are: Angelie Crizelle Ocampo, Ma. Paula Bianca Paz, Carmen Baena, Crystal Star Aberasturi, Diane Querrer, Jamie Herrell, Janelle Tee, Melanie Balagtas, Monique Manuel and Mary Ann Ross Misa.
Instead of noticing Monique's Resort Wear, one can't help but look at the taller than platform heels she had on her feet.
Indeed, the heels gave Monique a real boost in group shots.
Oops, Bianca just stepped on Monique's Resort Wear.
At least, Monique (2nd from right) wore the official heels during the swimsuit show.
It’s interesting. I’m referring to the pair of really tall platform heels Monique Manuel of Dinalupihan, Bataan wore during the Miss Philippines Earth 2014 Resort Wear Competition. She must have been given an extra long garb by her designer and had no choice but to use the same.
Of course, it boosted her height when posing for group shots. Although in the third photo above, her blue attire must really be so looong that Bianca Paz of Gapan City accidentally stepped on her hemline.
Anyways, I wanted to start my week right so I opted to share these images just to put a grin or a snicker in everyone’s face. š
For sure, you must have seen her face on a TV commercial and/or a string of Print Ads aside from being aware that she joined Bb. Pilipinas a few years back. Monique Terelle Pamintuan Manuel has never really given up on her dream of becoming a national beauty queen. And as the representative of Dinalupihan, Bataan in Miss Philippines Earth 2014, she has another good opportunity to turn that wish to reality if ever.

The way I size up Monique, she should really enjoy an edge over the more greenhorn joiners this year. She has been trained and polish on how to project and present herself well in public. And as part of the large Kagandahang Flores contingent in the eco-beauty fest, she has the solid backing to keep her in good hands till the finals on May 11.

At the poolside of Solaire Resort & Casino, the forty-eight (48) Official Candidates of Miss Philippines Earth 2014 were presented to the press amidst the boiling heat of the summer sun. Despite the hot conditions, they gamely waved and posed to the delight of everyone in attendance.
The crowd favorites stepped up to the plate and showed why they are currently leading the way in pre-pageant competitions. Among the ladies tipped on the hot list are Jamie Herrell, Mary Ann Ross Misa, Ma. Paula Bianca Paz, Crystal Star Aberasturi, Janelle Tee, Angelie Ocampo, Kimberly Covert, Bence Bianzon, Diane Querrer, Monique Manuel and Melanie Balagtas.

The ten (10) Miss Hana Shampoo Beauties
Miss Cebu City, Jamie Herrell was awarded Gold as Darling of the Press with Crystal Star Aberasturi of Liloan and Bianca Paz of Gapan City taking Silver and Bronze respectively. Miss Hana Shampoo Beauties were also called out to centerstage, and they are Mary Ann Ross Misa of Makati City, Angelie Ocampo of Sta. Rita Pampanga, Janelle Tee of Davao City, Melanie Balagtas of Fil-Sydney, Carmen Baena of Fil-Melbourne, Diane Querrer of Tanauan City, Crystal Aberasturi of Liloan, Jamie Herrell of Cebu City, Bianca Paz of Gapan City and Monique Manuel of Dinalupihan.
Five of them will win come May 11 during the finals set in SM MOA Arena with the top placer getting the title of Miss Philippines Earth 2014 and earning the right to be the country’s official representative to Miss Earth 2014 which is rumored to be hosted overseas later this year. Three of the Top 5 will be named for Air, Water and Fire as 1st, 2nd and 3rd Runners Up respectively. The fifth placer will be awarded Miss Philippines Eco-Tourism for the year. š
These eight (8) ladies took part in Bb. Pilipinas before crossing over to Miss Philippines Earth.
What is the common denominator among the eight (8) ladies above? Simple. They all joined Bb. Pilipinas before crossing over to Miss Philippines Earth 2014. Actually, two (2) of them did it via Miss World Philippines in between (Ross Misa and Bianca Paz):
Mary Anne Ross Misa – Bb. Pilipinas 2010
Ma. Paula Bianca Paz – Bb. Pilipinas 2011 (disqualified)
Mary Rose Pujanes – Bb. Pilipinas 2013
Bencelle Bianzon – Bb. Pilipinas 2013
Anna Carmela Aquino – Bb. Pilipinas 2013
Monique Manuel – Bb. Pilipinas 2011
Anna Czarina Buenviaje – Bb. Pilipinas 2012
Patrixia Sherly Santos – Bb. Pilipinas 2010
If we are to use their previous experiences in big pageants, I would say that any of the beauties above can strongly take the competition, but none moreso than Mary Anne Ross Misa and Bianca Paz. They are the most senior in the batch and the ones who can handle all the nitty gritty of the pre-pageant even with their eyes closed.
These ladies have already passed the screenings for Miss Philippines Earth 2014.
Patrixia from 2010 is also joining MPE2014
Miss Philippines Earth 2014 is looking more and more like a battle of crossovers.
This early, five (5) alumni of Bb. Pilipinas have already enlisted and passed the initial screenings for the competition.
There is Mary Anne Ross Misa – the ‘every-other-year’ joiner – who is making the jump from Bb. Pilipinas 2010 to MPE2014 via Miss World Philippines 2012. She could be Makati City’s bet.
In the same 2010 batch is Patrixia Sherly Santos who is being tagged to represent Albay in MPE2014.
Monique Manuel of Dinalupihan, Bataan is next. She took part in Bb. Pilipinas 2011, kept low profile for more than a few years and has now resurfaced for MPE2014.
And then two of last year’s Official Candidates of Bb. Pilipinas Gold are also in. Team JDV’s Rose Pujanes of Batangas and Kagandahang Flores’ Ana Carmela Aquino of Taytay are already in place to join MPE2014.
