Mister United Continents 2015 may have assembled only seventeen (17) international delegates, but there is at least one who effortlessly stood out with his bright aura, engaging personality and highly photographable face. Mister Guam Robert Davis is the guy. And while he managed to get as far as the Top 12, loads of followers are wondering why he didn’t even reach the upper half and clinched at least a runner-up position. Sure, he is not as tall as the winner (who deserved the title, without a doubt) or two of the next placers. But his looks and efforts could have made him reach higher than what he ended up consoling himself with.

At any rate, I’d like to thank Robert for competing and giving it a good fight. You will be always welcome here in the country for any project/s that will hopefully land in your lap after the competition. 😉

A 27 year-old Health & Wellness enthusiast of GNC Armal from Beirut, Lebanon was proclaimed as the inaugural winner of Mister United Continents 2015 last night at the Tanghalang Pasigueño. Kamel Raad defeated sixteen (16) other delegates on his way to becoming his country’s first international pageant titleholder this year. He is my top pick for the victory.

His court includes 1st Runner-Up Bobbi Rahman Tehgu of Indonesia who gave it a good fight till the end. 2nd Runner-Up is Kristian Denver Diaz of Canada, with Antonio Chimbanda of Angola getting 3rd Runner-Up honors. To complete the Top 6 are 4th Runner-Up Nguyen Quang Huan of Vietnam and 5th Runner-Up Deepaj Sharma of India.

While host delegate Reynaldo Cataluna III did not make it to the winning circle, the 3rd place finish of Mister Canada (who has 100% Pinoy lineage) makes up for the same. Together with the bets of Albania, Australia, Bahamas, Dominican Republic and Guam, he finished in the Top 12.

After the pre-pageant night last Wednesday, the finals of Mister United Continents 2015 will come to a climax tonight with the selection of the winner among the seventeen (17) candidates. A couple of new favorites have emerged, including Mister Angola Antonio Chimbanda (left photo) who looks adorably dashing in his Onesimus Barong Tagalog and Mister Dominican Republic Larry Taveras. Somebody whispered to my ear that height has become a significant consideration (as expected) among the judges, and this will not augur too well for a couple of them despite being tagged as potential winners.

Let’s see who will show consistency and take his bid to victorious heights. The top finisher will have the honor of becoming the first-ever Mister United Continents.

mucpfinals1 Two of the candidates in Mister United Continents 2015 look so much alike that they can be easily mistaken as brothers in real life. Host delegate Reynaldo Cataluna III and Mister Indonesia Bobby Rahman Tehgu (seen in two separate photo grids here in their Onesimus Barong Tagalog and Rikki Molina swimwear during pre-pageant night) could be each other’s doppelgangers, right?

Friday, May 29 it will be for MUC2015

The first-ever Mister United Continents 2015 will culminate with the Grand Finals at the Tanghalang Pasigueno this coming Friday, May 29. And from among the eighteen (18) delegates vying for the honor, I decided to share just my Top 6 Predictions for the title.

It’s looking like a literal three-cornered fight amongst the continents of Asia-Oceania, Australia and Africa in the homestretch. The Asia-Oceania candidates I like are Reynaldo Cataluna III of the Philippines, Robert Davis of Guam and Bobby Rahman Tehgu of Indonesia, with Reginaldo Antunes of Namibia as the sole African. Michael Catayas of Australia represent the 3rd corner.

Truthfully, I like Robert and Michael. While this duo may not be the tallest in the batch, they have the looks and personality for the victory. Either of them winning would make me happy. Host delegate Reynaldo Cataluna III, on the other hand, could be a shoo-in for runner-up position at this point. As for the remaining three, I would also approve of seeing Kamel, Reginaldo and Bobby taking their bids to the next level and ending up with good placements.

I will just add a couple of spoilers to spice things up a bit. Kristian Denver Diaz of Canada and Ezrie Haikal of Borneo are trailing next to the six above.

Let’s wish all the competitors the best of luck for the finals night. And kudos to the organizers for braving the strong waves of doubt in fulfilling the demands of an international male pageant from start to finish. 😉

Things are happening left and right in the ongoing pre-pageant activities of Mister United Continents 2015. Headshots (above), Glamshots (left photo), Talent & National Costume Competition (below) and a visit to Villa Escudero in Quezon.

While the eighteen (18) guys in contention still fall short of the anticipated number of delegates, they are continuously enjoying the hospitality of the host venues, sponsors, organizers and the general public (particularly the ones who get to see them during scheduled appearances).

Next week will be extra challenging for the candidates because the important preliminaries will be conducted where their performances will be graded to see who will figure out well during next Friday’s Grand Finals at Tanghalang Pasigueno.

Top of my head right now, one of the several Asians could be the first-ever Mister United Continents titleholder. The entries from Lebanon, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines are particularly noteworthy. I’m not counting out Australia, Guam and Dominican Republic, though. They could give the regional favorites a run for their money. 😉

The Official Candidates of Mister United Continents 2015 are currently enjoying the warm hospitality of the Filipinos as they go through each day experiencing the brand of friendliness we are known for around the world. Billeted at Privato Hotel in Shaw Blvd., more entries are expected to check-in between now and tomorrow.

The delegates already accounted for are as follows:
Antonio Chimbanda of Angola, Michael Catayas of Australia, Lionel McIntosh of the Bahamas, Apohrozy Ezrie Eallie of Borneo, Kristian Denver Diaz of Canada, Larry Taveras of the Dominican Republic, Robert Davis of Guam, Deeraj Sharma of India, Teguh Bobby Rahman of Indonesia, Kamel Raad of Lebanon, Faruq Fadhullah of Malaysia, Yar Zar Lwin Oo of Myanmar, Reginaldo Antunes of Namibia, Zeeshan Ali Shah of Pakistan, Reynaldo Cataluna III of the Philippines and Nguyen Quang Huan of Vietnam.

They should all be complete in time for the start of all pre-pageant events this week and next, most especially the National Costume Competition in Villa Escudero on May 26. 😉

Before Reynaldo Cataluna III was elected Mister United Continents Philippines 2015 last Tuesday night, he was simply Mr. Angono who vied for the title alongside more than thirty (30) other aspirants gunning for male pageant glory. But it was crystal clear going into the finals that he is one of the top favorites. Aside from his appealing face and physique, the guy can also express himself well enough to subdue the onslaught of contenders who are considered more handsome by skin-deep standards. As a result, he will now be the country’s bet to Mister United Continents 2015 to be hosted here in Manila next month.

I can still remember his Q&A turn that could have clinched the win. It went something like “Question: Are you a giver or a taker? Answer: I’m a taker. opportunity comes only once so take it.”

There is a deaf candidate in the ongoing Mister United Continents Philippines 2015, and he is Mister Pasay City Lance Jason Go. You’ve got to hand it to this guy for prevailing over his disadvantage and proving to all and sundry that he has as much chance as the regular comers to perform well in the male competition.

The good thing is that he is not by his lonesome in the endeavor. Lance is getting full moral support from his fellow deaf friends Christine Balaguer (you all know her, of course) and antigravity yoga teacher Lester Lagos.
