This was an episode mired with technical difficulties – more from my end because Globe chose the worst time to do all their repair and maintenance work this weekend which considerably slowed down my internet connection. Be that as it may, it did not prevent the panelists from engaging in a no-holds-barred free-wheeling discussion about Philippine Pageantry from the eyes of the pageant media.

My guests included Ameer Gamama of Missosology, Adam Genato of Sash Factor, Voltaire Tayag of Rappler, Tita Lavinia of Titas of Pageantry, Edge Tenoria of Pageanthology 101 and Tristan Francisco of my host site.

I may have spilled more beans that I should but please take everything in the spirit of fun. Besides, jokes are half-meant so a part of me is just being open and unapologetic about it.

We have always associated Miss Supranational as an international beauty pageant that spotlights on the glam and fashionable side of beauty queens. But having a reigning titleholder like Anntonia Porsild of Thailand is turning the brand into something deeper than the physical.

During her last foreign travel and public appearance before the pandemic crisis, Thai-Danish Anntonia traveled to India to lend her presence to Liva Miss Diva 2020. In the process, she was also interviewed prior to the finals. Watch her one-on-one below.

Will an Asian take it all the way to the top in Miss World 2019?

It’s quite interesting to note that the Final Top Choices of Missosology and Sash Factor for Miss World 2019 are both Asians. The former has selected Suman Rao of India 🇮🇳, while the latter went for Michelle Marquez Dee of the Philippines 🇵🇭.

It only goes to show that, indeed, the Asian presence in this annual Beauty-With-A-Purpose event is strong. Add Vietnam or Indonesia to the mix and the continent becomes more iron-clad with certified contenders.

Let’s see which route tonight’s actual results will take.

PS. I have been tied up with blogs on Miss Universe, Miss Supranational and the other international competitions (like Mister Supranational and Miss Eco Teen) that I opted to just allow these two big pageant sites to release their predictions instead.

Forgive me if I had to resort to a maximized 15-image photo grid above. Mister Philippines Neil Perez is just about in every available picture (ok, that’s a bit over the top but he has a lot) with the other candidates in Seoul. It does help that Missosology is one of the accredited media in the host city and all these shots get to be uploaded in the Facebook page of Mister International. Can you blame our bet to be always around whenever the camera clicks? And he does stand out inspite of the presence of equally handsome delegates.

Anyways, everyone is having fun despite the freezing weather. Of course, the bonding never stops after staying on the streets of Seoul. These guys are also getting along well inside The Palace Hotel Seoul – much like long-lost brothers reuniting. 😉

The latest statements of Gian Quiballo

In order to protect the name of Missosology, the site has issued an Official Statement regarding the revelations made by Gian Quiballo of Gouldian yesterday. While the latter has reiterated (left screenshot) that his evidence was not photoshopped, there is still the nagging association with Missosology on the matter. I am far from endorsing talks alluding to the same. It was crystal clear during my post last night that the exposé was aimed against Gouldian.

I envy my Saitama-based friend Stephen Diaz (of Missosology) who resides only two train rides away from where the Miss International 2014 delegates spent the afternoon shopping at Ginza. The photos above and left are exclusives of the pageant site.

Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago accompanied the ladies which included Miss Philippines Bianca Guidotti. And what made the small group of 12 early delegates even more excited about the whole outing is that it’s not an official activity (notice that they still don’t have their country sashes on) so they can shop around without worrying too much about TV cameras following them or checking out only the sponsor shops/department stores.

Tomorrow will be entirely different because there will be more than sixty (60) foreign beauties already accounted for. 😉

moesetwine31 moesetwine51 The last time a Miss Universe candidate wore this country’s sash was way back in 1961 when Myint Myint Khin participated as Miss Burma. Now, Miss Universe Myanmar was born with the help of Hello Madam Media Group. And a beautiful lass carrying the name of Moe Set Wine will be traveling to Moscow to compete for the 2013 crown.

Moe Set Wine is a Yangon-born beauty who majored in English from Dagon University and furthered her studies by completing a second degree in Business Administration at the California Lutheran University. During the national competition, she was awarded Miss Perfect Skin aside from getting the Miss Famous title after collecting the most number of votes through online and SMS voting.

This early, the Myanmar delegate is showing its strength by way of the People’s Choice Poll started by Missosology. And I reckon that she will also be tough during the online voting that will be officially started by Miss Universe itself.

Let’s wait and see if she will do well in MU2013 on her own merits. 😉

After a long wait, the National Costume of Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup was finally unveiled during the taping at Credicard Hall in Sao Paulo. At first, you might find it surprising why she is wearing a crown while dressed in a Maria Clara top paired with a long gold skirt with seaweed-like (or butterflies if you prefer) designs. Well, after initial analysis, my hunch is that the inspiration comes from the annual Santacruzan that the country celebrates during the month of May. She could be a representation of the Reyna Elena instead of what others would interpret as Sto. Nino.

Reactions are mixed, but still predominantly positive. I have yet to see how the whole thing flows while Shamcey walks onstage, but I think it makes her look regal.

Norman’s Blog turns 2 today!

July 9 is extra special for me because Norman's Blog is officially 2 years old today!

I woke up with an extra glint in my eyes this morning. My blog is now 2 years-old! Pardon the cliche’ but I can’t believe I’ve made it this far as a blogger. Two years ago today, I had no clear commitment to doing this on a regular basis, let alone a one-blog-a-day proposition. Credit goes to Miss Universe 2009 which spurred me to start devoting part of my time to the same. The encouraging support of loyal readers and visitors continuously motivate me. The daily hits normally move on an up-and-down mode, but I am extra proud of what happened last April 11, 2011 when my blog had 34,658 views on that day alone! My topic then was about the winners of Binibining Pilipinas 2011.

From hereon, I can only move to bigger and better things. And I sincerely wish that you, my dear readers, will keep dropping by and share at least a minute or two of your time in reading or looking at my daily entries. I promise to keep my blogs as reader-friendly (short, sweet and visually appealing) as always!

By the way, let me thank TV Host/VJ/DJ KC Montero and Actress/Model/DJ Kat Alano for the free plugging of my blog in the “KC Show with Kat” (Mondays-Fridays 8am-11am on Wave 89.1), i.e., everytime I call them up in the morning (as ‘Hannibal’). Actually, I don’t need to shamelessly utter my URL anymore because KC always jumps the gun on me in shouting ‘normannorman.wordpress.com’. Special thanks as well to OPMB Worldwide, Missosology Forums and Mabuhay Beauties.

Okay, time to get back to regular programming! Onwards to Year 3! 😉
