Angeline Mae Santos is an independent candidate who signed up for Bb. Pilipinas 2020 last week. She hails from Trece Martires, Cavite and is a licensed Civil Engineer by profession. She is 25 years old, stands 5’7” and – for those who can’t seem to place the pageant she was last seen in – a former Official Candidate of Miss World Philippines 2018.
Angeline is currently taking up her Masteral studies in Engineering Management, major in Construction Management at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. She also works as Civil Engineer II with the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Below is Angeline’s talent performance during the Charity Gala of MWP2018.
A gender and development focal person at DPWH, Angeline is a member of the Philippine Technological Council Women Engineers Network and Lifetime Member of the Road Engineers Association of Philippines. It’s kind of hard to imagine her wearing a hard hat everyday on the job, but that’s who she really is – a woman who enjoys excelling in a male-dominated industry.
Is there room for her as one of the Binibinis during the final screening of Bb. Pilipinas 2020?
My last teaser for the year 2019 isn’t much of a tease. It can be called an ultimate seduction – a one big final thrust, if you will.
While she may not be saying it outright, Katarina Rodriguez has been leaving hints here and there about the possibility of extending her colorful pageant career to the fullest. You simply need to read between the lines to sense what kind of future plans are being considered. And at her age of 27 now, time is not giving much of an extension beyond 2020 if she is serious about giving it one final go.
Her advocacies are already intact – being a Peace Hero for Teach Peace Build Peace Movement and a Children’s Right Activist (and Ambassador) for Save The Children. On top of that, she can think on her feet and express her meaningful thoughts well.
Having two national titles tucked under her belt, Katja should have moved on from pageantry by now. But the build up from Miss Intercontinental 2017 to Miss World 2018 is like assembling a totem pole where the topmost part is still missing an important piece. And if she pushes through with Miss Universe Philippines 2020, then it will be like the 3rd part of a trilogy where the last chapter will have all the exciting elements of a long story waiting for one big epilogue.
Twelve (12) ladies comprise the shortlist from where eight final choices will be fielded by Aces & Queens for Miss World Philippines 2019.
Nine of them are pictured above during the private screening held by the beauty camp. Here are hints on their identity:
1) a Fil British beauty, 2) a model and TV actress, 3) a runner up in a national pageant, 4) a speech pathologist, 5) a Balikbayan beauty, 6) a reigning queen and 7) a runner-up of a local pageant plus 8)the daughter of a beauty queen. The other beauties are first timers in beauty pageants.
Care to guess who they are?

She is a professional model and a member of the new board of the Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP). She is no newbie to the world of pageantry, though. She wore pin #23 during the very competitive Miss World Philippines 2018 and finished in the Top 10.
Since then, Maan has been steadily preparing herself to take the bolder step of joining the bigger nationals – Bb. Pilipinas.
“I’m doing my own homework. I want to be in a good mental headspace and have my game face on going in…I think it’s also a disrespect to other women and fans of the pageant if a girl just breezes through it or treats it like a silly game.”
This smart and lovely woman looks up to Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray as inspiration:
“I just look up to Cat because she was so focused, driven, and well prepared. I aspire to be like that…”
So I guess we can all look forward to seeing more of Maan this 2019!

Please watch the entire #BeautyWithAPurpose video featuring Miss World Philippines Katarina Rodriguez below and be touched with her project for the devastated City of Marawi.
But before you click, here are just a few sidelights that went into the filming of the same:
1) The part in the beginning where Katja is walking is ground zero of the Marawi Crisis. It is not safe until now since inside those houses and buildings are mines that still remain unexploded.
2) The church shown on Day 3 is the established fortress of ISIS which has an underground dwelling.
3) Katja wrote the script all by herself with just a few edits from Benj Gabitan because of the sheer length of her writings.
4) Katja thought of this even before winning Miss World Philippines. Last year, she already started raising funds from Katarina’s Closet and Bazaar which was donated to “Save The Children for Marawi”.
Below is the video of the Group 4 Head-to-Head Challenge for Miss World 2018 with Miss Philippines Katarina Rodriguez and the delegates from Equatorial Guinea, Iceland, Senegal, Norway and Guyana.
Now here is how you can help Katja advance to Round 2 in this segment of the competition.
Remember, November 28 (6pm Sanya time) is the deadline for voting through the four ways stated above.
Today, November 20, is the schedule of the Miss World 2018 Top Model Challenge in Sanya, China. We know how Miss World Philippines Katarina Rodgirz prepared for all the important segments of the competition. Amd this one is no exception.
