The photos in this entry show one of the main reasons why Mr World remains as the most prestigious and substance-filled international male competition – the Charity Causes that the MWO under Julia Morley raises funds for.
Tuloy Foundation is one of the main beneficiaries this year and the presence of Fr. Rockie Evangelista and the kids during the finals last Friday night was easily the most memorable part of the entire proceedings. It left members of the audience teary-eyed seeing the candidates express their love and fondness for the young ones onstage.
Before Miss World Philippines 2017 Laura Lehmann leaves for Sanya, China this coming Friday, she took the opportunity to speak her heart out during the send-off yesterday afternoon at Annabel’s Restaurant. She started off plain and heartfelt in her message then slowly segued to the heart of her piece which is about the constant bashing and criticisms being continuously thrown against the Miss World Organization and the competition itself. She started to rally members of the media to stop all the negativity and look forward to more productive comment and feedbacks that she can bring with her in the journey.

Aces & Queens for Catriona Gray
Catriona during the Miss World 2016 Fashion Show
One hundred seventeen (117) candidates want to get hold of the Miss World 2016 crown. But out of this big group, I have never went out of my way to really express a whole-hearted belief in the capacity of Miss World Philippines Catriona Gray to take it all the way. I just don’t see any other delegate coming close to being a very deserving winner.
Catriona worked hard for everything that was demanded of each delegate all throughout the competition. She was honest at the beginning that the Sports Challenge was her achilles heel but promised to give her very best in all other areas of fast-track judging. And true enough, she topped Multimedia and is now seeded into the Top 20. She also performed so well in Talent and is, in fact, just behind Miss Mongolia in the ranking here. The Top Model results surprised everyone but we all know that she was in her best elements on the runway as this is where she got professionally known for. And even if she was not counted in the Top 3, there’s just no way that she would significantly lag
behind in the scoring. And more importantly, she placed in the Top 5 of Beauty With A Purpose – the core of Miss World and the fast-track segment that carries the biggest number of points to carry one representative far up the placement ladder.
Truth be told, Catriona can’t win all the fast-track events. The organizers just wouldn’t allow that to happen. But you and I know that she poured her heart in all the parts. I have never seen a Miss World Philippines rep who got so interactive with fans and followers online that my notifications almost always had her name posting something or replying to an update herself.
But why should Catriona Gray win Miss World 2016? Simple. She has the heart and soul of the Miss World Organization deeply embedded in her entire persona. Beyond the looks, queenly aura and the determination to bring honor to the Philippines, she has the right motivation to win. She knows the kind of job she will get herself into should the blue crown land on her head. It’s all about charity work and the huge platform to make a difference in the lives of others. And what makes her so special compared to other ladies who are also firm in their passion and dedication for humanity? The unstinting support of the entire Filipino nation around the world. And I firmly believe that Julia Morley and the Miss World Organization knows too well how massively powerful the Philippines can be in spreading the word and making noise everywhere.
So let me ask again. Why does Miss World Philippines deserve to be the successor of Mireia Lalaguna? Because she is Catriona Gray. I wouldn’t blog out loud if another Filipina is wearing the Philippine sash. 🙂

Catriona, Rohit and Mireia
The visit to Manila of Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna and Mister World 2016 Rohit Khandelwal is decidedly low-key. It doesn’t help that their brief stay coincides with the flurry of Miss Earth 2016 activities that members of the media were torn as to which events to cover as the scheduled hours overlapped. At any rate, the charity visits to the Beauty With A Purpose (BWAP) Projects at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) pushed through at the Cancer Pediatric Wards, as well as the activity at Tulay Foundation for differently-abled children and young teens.
Good friends Mireia and Miss World Philippines 2015 (and Miss World 2015 Top 10) Hillarie Parungao reunited as well. We can still remember them being close during last year’s competition in Sanya, China.
As for Rohit, the dashing Indian (aside from joining in the charity events) also met up with Miss World 2013 Megan Young and Miss World Philippines 2016 Catriona Gray. Shades of a dinner with a former titleholder, a reigning titleholder and possibly a future titleholder for Miss World Organization (MWO).
For now, the good-looking duo are still billeted at Conrad Manila but will be checking out soon to fly off to their next destination.

Will the Miss World Organization confirm the US hosting of Miss World 2016 soon?
The current talk in the global pageant scene is the December 20 hosting of Miss World 2016 in Washington, D.C. While the Miss World Organization has not made this official, it’s looking more and more like that. And this should be good news for all upcoming aspirants for the national finals of the pageant in different countries, the Philippines included.
Will this potential development be sealed by Julia Morley soon? And will it attract a far more attractive bevy of delegates? I’m leaning on the affirmative on both counts.
Now what is more important is if this year’s edition will be more breathtaking and fast-paced than the last? I hope so. The 2015 finals did not kick me out of Christmas-partying and was just waiting for updates from Sanya, China.
Let’s hope for the best! 🙂

Today is the Birthday of Ms. Julia Morley, the woman who has actively worked for the purpose-filled lives of beautiful women all over the globe via the Miss World Organization and all of its charities.
Please don’t ask me her exact age, but it could only be one of two numbers – 75 or 73 – depending on which birth year you believe in. Regardless, she remains firm and unstinting in the efforts to forge ahead in her various humanitarian interests.
My wish is for her continued good health. From there, everything else will follow.

From all of us here, Happy Birthday! 😀
Has Hannah Mariz dela Guerra been convinced to join Miss World Philippines 2014?
Early buzz from the Aces & Queens camp is that Hannah Mariz dela Guerra is also being eyed to make the big jump to Miss World Philippines 2014 soon after her stint as Binibini 5 during Bb. Pilipinas 2014. And I will be in full support of the girl if ever. She has one of the loveliest faces in the nationals and it would be a waste to let go of all her trainings and transformations without giving another pageant a try.
If you ask someone like Miss World 2013 Megan Young, I bet she will give her thumbs up as well for this lovely Atenean. Our Queen already knows the type of girl Miss World Organization is looking for. Add to that the very likeable personality and charming ways and we could have a potential winner in her.
Let’s see if Hannah Mariz will finally give her resounding ‘yes’. 🙂
P.S. So much for my so-called Holy Week break. Even from the calm and comforting highlands, I still couldn’t keep myself from blogging. Somebody snatch this freakin’ tablet (I am so loving my LG GPad 8.3!) from my hands now! 😉
