Miss World India 2012 Vanya Mishra
India has been a Miss World powerhouse for many years now, with five (5) crowns safely tucked under the country’s belt (an amazing four top finishes from 1994-2000 in fact). The last time it won the pageant, though, was more than a decade ago when Priyanka Chopra was adjudged winner during the 2000 edition in London. After that, the closest it got to another victory was back in 2008 when Parvathy Omanakuttan placed 1st Runner-Up to Ksenia Sukhinova of Russia. Will Miss World India 2012 Vanya Mishra spell the difference and end the title drought?

Vanya (R) with Miss World USA Claudine Book.
Vanya is a 20 year-old Electrical Engineering student from Chandigarh who is bringing both beauty and brains to the table against more than a hundred lovelies currently in Ordos for Miss World 2012. How will she stand out given the high level of competition? Well, as is usual with Miss Indias of decades past, her biggest ace would be strong communication skills with a touch of either wisdom and/or basic life philosophy. Will it still work given the evolution of Julia Morley’s thrust (which of late has included multimedia in the fray of events)? Or has India started to lose its shine and has already gone past its Golden Age of participation in Miss World and the other Grand Slam pageants?
We’ll see what happens come August 18 when Vanya discovers what fate has in store for her in the competition. 😉
