It’s no secret that I am fond of Fahsai Paweensuda Drouin, the Thai-Canadian beauty who placed 2nd Runner-Up during Miss Universe Thailand 2017 and was chosen as Thailand’s representative to Miss Earth that same year. Because of her trip to the Philippines for the international competition, she started a relationship with Filipino pageant fans that led to succeeding visits to the country especially during the heydays of Mr & Miss Hannah’s Ecotourism and Mr & Miss Hannah’s World Tourism Philippines where she started a friendship with now Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
Inspired by Cat and her throng of supporters in Thailand, she is now ready to embark on a new journey in pageantry via Miss Universe Thailand 2019 which is now under new management – TPN.
Watch her screening video and how she impressed the judges to be able to get a Golden Tiara – an automatic pass to the Top 60 which makes her an Official Candidate.
First off, let me quote the news report made by Bangkok Post on the recent win of Mareeya Poonlertlarp as Miss Universe Thailand 2017:
25-year-old Mareeya Poonlertlarp, a half-Thai, half-Swedish model, was crowned Miss Universe Thailand 2017 at Siam Paragon Hall on Saturday night. 183cm tall, the postgraduate in marketing from the Stockholm Business School is said to be fluent in four languages – Thai, Swedish, English and Mandarin. She won 1 million baht, a diamond tiara and a car, as well as the trophy. She is now set to represent Thailand at the international Miss Universe 2017 pageant in Las Vegas this coming November. First runner-up Supaporn Litiphruek received half a million baht, and joint second runners-up Suraphuen Artkongharn, Ratchanok Nawaset and Paweensuda Du-uen each pocketed 150,000 baht. Chalita Suansane, Miss Universe Thailand 2016, was also on stage. Chalita finished in the top six in the global Miss Universe competition – Thailand’s greatest success since Porntip Nakhirankanok won the Miss Universe title back in 1988.
What are your thoughts about Mareeya now, dear readers? Pageant fans are saying that Thailand has a very good chance of winning their 3rd Miss Universe crown with this Thai/Swedish beauty. Agree or close to agreeing? 🙂

Above are the forty (40) Official Candidates of Miss Universe Thailand 2017
. And by the looks of it, the selection this year has just gotten a notch stronger with several contenders who can potentially win the national crown come July 29. To find one who is most deserving to succeed Chalita Suansane – 65th Miss Universe Top 6 Finisher – won’t be an easy task. The next lady should be able to surpass that achievement.
Here now are my early favorites for the crown (identified by their numbers):
My twelve early favorites for Miss Universe Thailand 2017
I will still need to evaluate them in the coming weeks, but it is likely that the next titleholder will come from the dozen ladies above. I am starting to like #3 Paweensuda Drouin, #5 Mareeya Poonlertlarp, #9 Baitong Jareerat, #37 Baifern Kanyaphat and #38 Supaporn Ritthipruek.
We’ll see how everything goes in the coming weeks.
