Above photo shows Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2013 Monic Perez displaying her National Costume for Miss Universe 2013. The under-the-sea mermaid-like design is something different, compared to what her predecessors wore in previous editions. While it doesn’t score high in originality, the wearer shines like pearl with her gorgeous face being the focal attention of the whole ensemble.
Do you like it? 😉
You can never put a Miss Universe powerhouse participant down. When Puerto Rico got disappointed with the non-placement of much-heralded Bodine Koehler Pena in last year’s holiday edition of the pageant, they simply concentrated on the next lady-in-waiting. In comes the pride of Arecibo.
And 23 year-old Monic Marie Perez Diaz is more than willing to take the tough challenge of regaining Puerto Rico’s star status in Donald Trump’s eyes. She has set aside her Nursing studies at the University of Puerto Rico (Arecibo) in favor of fulfilling her mission of becoming the next Miss Universe. It’s been more than 6 years since Zuleyka Rivera won the title for the island-territory, and her countrymen are itching to have a new crown in their hands.
And boy, oh boy, is she in universe-class fighting form. And the big competition has not even been finalized yet. Watch the video below showing her latest photoshoot.

Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2013 Monic Perez
Monic Perez being crowned by her predecessor, the still-waiting-to-compete Bodine Koehler Pena.
Monic Marie Perez, 22, is Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2013. Her victory has already caught up with last year’s Bodine Koehler who has yet to compete in Miss Universe 2012 (which, up to now, remains homeless in terms of a host city or country for its proposed December 11 finals).
Anyways, how do you feel about Monic who stands 5’9″? How does she compare to her predecessor? Top of my head right now, the more obvious comments are that Bodine is taller, younger and fiercer than her. And using these parameters alone would suggest that Puerto Rico has a much better fighting chance for 2012 than 2013. But that’s just me. Who knows how Arecibo’s pride will be made over so as to look more youthful and less matronly? I’m certain that she will be ‘rejuvenated’ and surprise everyone with a nice transformation. After all, she’s already beautiful, so improvements need not be drastic.
For now, let’s see how many more 2013 Miss Universe representatives will add to the pile up. 😉
