Ok, don’t go reeling your green mind and casting a naughty spell on her name. After all, it’s one of the things that makes Priyani Puketapu unique. When she won the right to represent New Zealand in the 2011 Miss Universe Pageant in Sao Paolo, Brazil, this Wellington native has started to set her sights on bringing honor to her country by performing (or placing) well in the biggest global beauty competition. Stats-wise, she is 20 years old, stands 1.72m tall and is currently studying for a Bachelor of Communications degree, majoring in Journalism.
So how will Priyani fare side-by-side the fierce candidates she will compete with in Brazil? I’m not too keen on her prospects of winning the top prize itself, but she can surely make her presence felt by just being her natural self. Who knows? She might just catch the attention of everyone and take a shine from the organizers. If that happens, then the Miss Universe Pageant can at least prove itself open to all types of ladies and not just the unstoppable Latinas or doll-like Europeans. But then again, the Asians are also a force to reckon with so it makes her gameplan all the more complex in a way. Let’s see what’s in store for her. 😉
