For the past three days, Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters has gone through the same number of photoshoots in preparation for Miss Universe 2017. The photo above was shot by Photographer Dookie Ducay himself, while the BTS snapshot below is courtesy of Stylist Bonita Penaranda from the same pictorial.
Paul Nebres did the hair, with makeup by Jelly Eugenio.
Watch out for more new photos of Rachel from hereon now.
First off, let me quote the news report made by Bangkok Post on the recent win of Mareeya Poonlertlarp as Miss Universe Thailand 2017:
25-year-old Mareeya Poonlertlarp, a half-Thai, half-Swedish model, was crowned Miss Universe Thailand 2017 at Siam Paragon Hall on Saturday night. 183cm tall, the postgraduate in marketing from the Stockholm Business School is said to be fluent in four languages – Thai, Swedish, English and Mandarin. She won 1 million baht, a diamond tiara and a car, as well as the trophy. She is now set to represent Thailand at the international Miss Universe 2017 pageant in Las Vegas this coming November. First runner-up Supaporn Litiphruek received half a million baht, and joint second runners-up Suraphuen Artkongharn, Ratchanok Nawaset and Paweensuda Du-uen each pocketed 150,000 baht. Chalita Suansane, Miss Universe Thailand 2016, was also on stage. Chalita finished in the top six in the global Miss Universe competition – Thailand’s greatest success since Porntip Nakhirankanok won the Miss Universe title back in 1988.
What are your thoughts about Mareeya now, dear readers? Pageant fans are saying that Thailand has a very good chance of winning their 3rd Miss Universe crown with this Thai/Swedish beauty. Agree or close to agreeing? 🙂

And so the answer is now final. It’s a big NO to Miss Universe in the Philippines this year as per Department of Tourism Chief Wanda Teo in a news article
posted by ABS-CBN News. There has always been that wishful thinking on my part for Miss Universe 2017 not pushing through in the country either November or December. The stress and the major expenses that go with hosting are just too soon to be experienced all over again. Besides, there are far more important matters that the Government needs to address first, and I think that the situation in Mindanao is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak.
Will this development affect the chances of Miss Universe Philippines Rachel Peters? I don’t think so. The DOT is still giving everyone hope of a possible hosting in 2018.
Super thanks to Ton Lao for these exclusive photos (except the small one on the left)
First of all, big thanks to my friend Ton Lao who provided me with these latest exclusive photos (except the small one on the left
) of Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters as photographed by Mark Nicdao.
Consider these shots as Rachel on first gear of her preparations for Miss Universe 2017. While details on whether she will be a host delegate or a traveling representative are still officially unconfirmed, there is no stopping her drive to transforming herself into the best version of the country’s Miss Universe bet. And part of the credit goes to Ton Lao for helping prepare her in the journey – aside from what BPCI will provide.
I’m liking what I see. And if this is just first gear, what more if we move up to higher speeds.
Your thoughts, dear readers? 😉
From Bb. Pilipinas 2015 to Miss Universe Canada 2017, Justine Felizarta has shifted gears
From being Binibini 23 of Bb. Pilipinas 2015 and making it to the Top 15 of that strong edition lorded over by now Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Justine Beatrice Felizarta is finally evolving into a more polished and renewed version of herself as one of the delegates for Miss Universe Canada 2017.
The Vancouver-based 23 year old will be one of the ladies vying for the national crown currently on the head of Siera Bearchell who placed in the Top 9 of the 65th Miss Universe in Manila last January. And this early, she is one of the more active contenders who is spreading her cause for Operation Smile with a benefit fundraiser (see image below) and the physical presence in the different activities of the Filipino Communities in Canada.
normannorman.com will follow Justine’s journey in Miss Universe Canada 2017. If she is fortunate enough, then we just might see a second Filipina competing in Miss Universe 2017 along with our very own Rachel Peters.
Good luck, my dear! 🙂

MUO President Paula Shugart
During the #OneBetterWorld Event of Hope4Change, San Miguel Corporation and Miss Universe Organization
So just how are the negotiations for the hosting of Miss Universe 2017 in the country moving along? Is everything turning out as positively expected by most? Or has the current status turned into “floating in mid-air”?
According to my source, the recent arrival of Paula Shugart in Manila should have almost sealed the deal. I say “almost” because one important piece of the puzzle – Gov. Chavit Singson – still remains allegedly non-committal during the formal dinner hosted for the visiting guests from NYC. And because of that, I was told that the Miss Universe Organization needs to dig deep in its Philippine network to find more solid allies in the pursuit of a sweet conclusion. There are talks that multinational beverage giant San Miguel Corporation (SMC) is joining the circle, just as Megaworld and Okada Manila are also being tapped to hook up. And could it be true that Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc. might also be part of the team?
Regardless, my source asked Paula why the organization still wants Miss Universe to be hosted in Manila. Her replies were straightforward. They know how much the Filipinos love Miss Universe. She fully appreciates the kind of security provided to the candidates and the entire MUO officials & crew. And the level of ease given in running all Pre-Pageant activities plus mounting the production of the Preliminaries and Finals cannot be denied.

When further queried about the dangerously short five (5) months left before a penciled late November date for the finals, the MUO President replied that the 65th Miss Universe was negotiated and finalized in a matter of three (3) months. And that the extra period should still give them a safe cushion of sorts.
So where does everything stand at this point? Let me put it this way. For as long as there is no Press Conference for the Contract Signing, the fate of Miss Universe 2017 or the 66th Miss Universe is still a dream waiting to become a reality in the Philippines.
