The Chinese organizers of Miss Universe China must have been doubly inspired by their win of the National Costume Award in Miss Universe 2012. Who wouldn’t be? So for the coming pageant in Moscow, they are pulling out all the stops with the attire Ye Jin will be wearing. And it’s not just a simple costume, but an explosive dragon-inspired number that can leave spectators awe-inspired.
Now how about Sri Lanka? The country has not really been a contender in NCs for ages. But this year, Amanda Ratnayake will be wearing an utterly gorgeous structural attire that evokes her country’s culture. Nice right?
And Vietnam? Wow! I’ve never seen them dress their reps so beautifully outside the traditional ao dai. The one above looks classy and Truong Thi May will have a grand time wearing the complete ensemble.
I’m really enjoying the competition of National Costumes every year. How I wish the Philippine rep is also a contender. But then again, our team looks at this segment as less important in scope/weight and just a sidebar to the main event. If I had my rathers, local historians would be asked to recommend the designs to fashion designers. 😉
