Angeli Dione Gomez: from Mutya ng Pilipinas to Miss Tourism International
Who would have thought it possible?
The whole country did. Well, most of us actually did.
And Miss Tourism International 2013/2014 Angeli Dione Gomez made sure that she ended 2013 with a big bang of a gift to her countrymen, at the same time ringing in 2014 with our very first international crown for a fresh new period in pageantry. An added icing on the cake is the back-to-back country win in the Kuala Lumpur-based competition.

Miss Tourism International 2013 Angeli Dione Gomez of the Philippines
Up to the fading minutes of 2013, the Philippines does it again!
Angeli Dione Gomez was crowned Miss Tourism International 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – a rare back-to-back win for the Philippines with Rizzini Alexis Gomez being the outgoing titleholder. The reps of Thailand, Australia, Dominican Republic and Malaysia made it to her court. She defeated 59 other contenders for the honor.
And to the Philippines, the undisputed Country of the Year for 2013! 😉

And will the Philippines achieve an exciting back-to-back win in the pageant? 😉
Tickets for the finals are still available. Just check out the details above.
And if you’re based in KL, you might want to spend New Year’s Eve with the ladies, especially Miss Philippines Angeli Dione Gomez. 😉
From your blogger, here’s wishing everyone the happiest Christmas ever!
While the pressure to win the crown and achieve a rare back-to-back for the Philippines in Miss Tourism International is constantly looming her way, Angeli Dione Gomez is still making sure that she enjoys her time with the other ladies in Kuala Lumpur but not to the point of just allowing fate to decide if she will indeed reach her goal (or somewhere near it). She is definitely performing the best way that she can.
Angeli will fight for the Philippines in MTI2013
Our bet needs to do well, in my opinion. Considering that she will already sacrifice spending Christmas with her loved ones back home, there’s no other way to combat homesickness but to focus on the mission at hand. After all, she is doing it for flag and country. And if it’s any consolation, her fellow Cebuana (and reigning titleholder plus surname-sake) Rizzini Alexis Gomez will be around to keep her company, aside from some family members joining her in the Malaysian capital come New Year’s Eve for the finals.
Give it your best shot, Angeli! 🙂
Remember the National Costume made by Cary Santiago, initially worn by Maria Theresa Gorgonio during Bb. Pilipinas 2013 and rumored to be the traditional attire of Ariella Arida during Miss Universe 2013? Well, Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International 2013 Angeli Dione Gomez finally got to wear the same for Miss Tourism International 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that started just recently.
Makes sense to me. Both Cary Santiago and Angeli Dione Gomez are from Cebu, so the former wants the best for the Filipina rep in MTI2013.
And with a back-to-back win looming on the horizon for the country in the said competition, everything is being planned to make sure that Angeli Dione Gomez stands out.
Let’s see what good luck the National Costume will bring to our bet. 😉

When Miss Universe 2013 3rd Runner-Up Ara Arida, Miss Grand International 2013 3rd Runner-Up Ali Forbes and Mister International 2013 4th Runner-Up were gathered for a guesting in the GMA-7 Morning Show “Unang Hirit“, the hosts (Lyn Ching and Lhar Santiago) had fun asking questions picked from a fishbowl.
There’s no question that the country has already far exceeded many years past in its pageant performance for 2013. Aside from the three mentioned above, Miss World 2013 Megan Young and Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Datul added the big points to lift us to greater heights of recognition abroad.
And in the upcoming days ahead, the record stands to improve even more with the expected good performances of Angelee delos Reyes in Miss Earth 2013, Koreen Medina in Miss Intercontinental 2013, Bea Rose Santiago in Miss International 2013 and Angeli Dione Gomez in Miss Tourism International 2013. 😉
Yesterday, the twin send-offs for Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia-Pacific 2013 Koreen Medina and Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International 2013 Angeli Dione Gomez took place at Midas Hotel Manila. Since both of their pageant assignments will culminate next month, the organizers thought it best to host the event at the same time.
While Angeli will still have to wait just a wee bit longer before leaving for Kuala Lumpur for the international finals scheduled on December 31, Koreen should be flying to Europe very soon as Miss Intercontinental 2013 will be crowned in Magdeburg, Germany on December 14.
With the reigning Miss Tourism International being our own Rizzini Alexis Gomez, our bet will face a tougher mission to aim for a back-to-back victory. I trust the beautiful Angeli to do well, regardless. On the other hand, we haven’t nailed a single Miss Intercontinental title yet, so Koreen should be more inspired to work hard for the first.
Best of luck to both ladies in their international outings! 🙂

During Bb. Pilipinas 2013 last April, Angeli Dione Gomez was hoping to bring pride and honor to Cebu City by securing one of the crowns (or at least a top placement) during the finals. Alas, her name was not even called to join the Top 15. There was personal disappointment, aside from not being able to add joy to the Kagandahang Flores
The pretty Cebuana moved on after that. But it was only a matter of time before we see her stepping into another set of pageant heels and swimwear. Mutya ng Pilipinas became her next objective. And not to be denied for a second consecutive time, she poured all her best efforts into the competition. Her reward was handed over last July 26 – the Mutya-Tourism International crown. What sweetened the victory even more is that fact that her predecessor is another Cebuana (Rizzini Alexis Gomez). This could only mean that a back-to-back Cebuana and Philippine win in the Kuala Lumpur international finals (set for New Year’s Eve this year) is a possibility.
Could Angeli be looking at greater things happening in her quest for the 2013 Miss Tourism International title? I sincerely hope so. 😉
