Bb. Pilipinas-Supranational 2018 Jehza Huelar has reached full circle by now. When she finished her university degree a few years back, the next objective was to win a crown in the national pageant or land a lucrative job abroad – whichever came first. Last year, she represented the country in Miss Supranational so mission achieved.

And yesterday, she finally plunged into marriage with long-time beau Peter June “PJ” Simon (a PBA player with Magnolia Hotshots) and fulfilled yet another dream – to have a fairy-tale wedding.

I am so happy for these two!

BTS shots of the Bb. Pilipinas 2018 titleholders during their photoshoot with Raymond Saldaña earlier in the day. Watch out for the final images soon!

This batch produced a Miss Universe in Catriona Gray, a Miss Intercontinental in Karen Gallman, and a near-win as 1st Runner-Up in Miss International in Ahtisa Manalo. We can also add a Top 10 Miss Supranational finish for Jehza Huelar and a Top 15 placement in The Miss Globe for Michele Gumabao. It saddens me, though, that Eva Patalinjug was questionably snubbed in Miss Grand International.

At any rate, what an impressive score card for this group of titleholders!

A real trouper of a Queen our Jehza Huelar is.

For still unexplained reasons (waiting from Jehza as to what really happened out there in Poland), her Kannah Besino-Simbulan evening gown (used during the final rehearsal) looked like it got ripped (or accidentally damaged) on the back zipper area.

In fairness to the designer, the gown is made of light and stretch fabric using high quality zipper so the second photo below (showing the back being secured by six pins) was hard to imagine happening. 😕

At any rate, Jehza went on with everything like a true pro.

Valeria Vazquez Latorre of Puerto Rico wins Miss Supranational 2018

Congratulations to Valeria Vázquez Latorre of Puerto Rico for winning Miss Supranational 2018, with Katrina Jayne Dimaranan of the United States as 1st Runner-Up.

The three other runners-up are Magdalena Bienkowska of Poland, Wilda Octaviana Situngkir of Indonesia and Diana Romero of Mexico in that order.

Kudos to our very own Jehza Huelar for finishing in the Top 10. The two (2) Filipinas did well in this year’s edition.

Presenting the National Costume of Jehza Huelar for Miss Supranational 2018:

Designer: Russell Yasay of Fashion Institute of the Philippines – Ortigas

The costume is a contemporary equivalent of the traditional dress of the women of T’boli tribe, the well-kown dreamweavers of the province of South Cotabato. This craft was given a touch of two of the famous Philippine fashion trademarks, the terno and the butterfly sleeves. The top is made up of a silhouette of plain T’nalak fabric embellished with premium brass bells made by the finest tribal brass casters. The palazzo pants with train, which is inspired by the “lewek tedeyung” –an authentic T’boli-woven malong, is adorned by traditional accessories “hilet lemimet” belt –that signifies royalty in the tribe. Completing this masterpiece is a “sewat” headpiece which was intricately made of beads and is known to be worn by the treasured princesses of the tribe.

The SWORD signifies BRAVERY, while the FAN shows GRACE AND BEAUTY.


And at around 8pm of December 7 in Poland (3:00am of December 8 in Manila), the finals of Miss Supranational 2018 will be live streamed on the pageant’s FB Page and YouTube channel.

Watch out for our Queen Jehza as she tries to claim the country’s 2nd crown in the said contest. She is one of the running favorites. Hopefully, she will be rewarded with a top finish.

Jehza Huelar gets ready for the Miss Supranational 2018 Preliminary Competition

Tomorrow, the Preliminary Competition of Miss Supranational 2018 will take place in Poland. And our Miss Supranational Philippines Jehza Huelar is definitely up in her game plan. She is getting favorable reviews from most everyone in the host city of Karpacz. With the momentum on her side, she will present herself to the judges oozing with confidence and determination to become our 2nd big winner in the contest. Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Datul is present and I am sure she will give our Queen a few precious tips on how to do better in her performance.

Miss Philippines Jehza Huelar during the Swimsuit Competition of Miss Supranational 2018 at the Hotel Golebiewski Karpacz. It was held just hours back.

She wore a Julius Pegarro Jaguio swimwear.

She did very well here in my opinion.
