Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 Sherlyn Doloriel
With ND Cindy Madumma and the two runners-up Danica Acuña & Kristine Eiriel Nolasco
Earlier yesterday afternoon, Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 Sherlyn Doloriel was given her Media Send-Off to Miss Scuba International 2017 in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia where she will attempt to win a second top victory in the competition after (now) National Director Cindy Madumma did it last 2015.
At Rufo’s Famous Tapa in Paseo Center, members of the pageant media plus photographers took turns in asking questions and taking photos of our bet after she was formally awarded – along with two runners-up Danica Acuña and Kristine Eiriel Nolasco the custom-made crystal trophies and good-luck pearl earrings that form part of their prizes as this year’s top finishers.
There is a big weight now on the shoulders of Sherlyn as she really needs to step it up even more after the string of successes shown by our other Beauty Queens in the international stage. She is aware of the importance of placing in the Top 3, if not clinching the title itself come November 18 at the Sutera Harbor.
Her actual journey to the competition won’t be a breeze as she needs to fly from Manila to Kota Kinabalu before the transfer to a domestic flight to another part of Sabah and a 2-hour road trip, followed by a 90-minute beat ride to the actual diving sites where the core activities will be held. But she is ready for the ride!

Her time has finally come. From a not so successful bid during Miss Philippines Earth 2017, the Cagayan de Oro City native has won a national crown. Sherlyn Legaspi Doloriel – representing Misamis Oriental – is now Miss Scuba Philippines 2017, and the country’s representative to Miss Scuba International 2017 in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia next month. A certified Diver and a “fighter for the Ocean”, she defeated fourteen other girls on the way to victory.
Her 1st Runner-Up is Danica Acuña of Romblon, followed by 2nd Runner-Up Kristine Eiriel Nolasco of Manila. Named as Marine Ambassadors (all remaining ladies in the Top 8) are Fel Banaybanay, Yana Ibnohajil, Helga Cerbo, Jolina Ann Roque and Elle Hollman.

Sherlyn will have less than a month to prepare for her international competition, but she dreamt of winning this title for so long. She is totally up to the challenge of clinching a second Miss Scuba International win for the Philippines.
True to its unique pageant advocacy for Marine Conservation, the Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 Candidates had their photoshoot in full aquatic get-up as taken by Allen Cabs and styled by National Director Cindy Pacia Madumma.

FYI, all fifteen (15) ladies have already made their first open water dive in Puerto Galera.
During last night’s Long Gown Competition of Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 held at the Citystate Tower Hotel Manila, the 15 Official Candidates walked the runway to impress the judges wearing creations from different designers from Adam Balasa to Manny Halasan to Maestro John to Paolo Blanco. The segment is an important component of the entire competition that will fill up 1/4 of the total performance score that will be added up to the crucial closed door interviews this coming Sunday at the Belmont Hotel Manila.
Announced as the 3 finalists are Danica Acuña, Fel Banaybanay and Sherlyn Doloriel. Winner will be known on Finals Night come October 10 at the Plaza of Resorts World Manila.

It was a very successful staging of the Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 Swimsuit Competition held at the poolside of La Laguna Villas in Puerto Galera. All the fifteen candidates vied for the attention of the judges – most of whom are members of the PGDDRA or Puerto Galera Dive Shop and Dive Resort Association aside from the Puerto Galera Mayor and Vice-Mayor. Special sponsor awards were also handed out prior to the announcement of the Top 3 in swimsuit (by Swimwear Store): Helga Cerbo, Lorin Talosig and Sherlyn Doloriel.
Athena Catriz hosted the proceedings, while National Director Cindy Madumma made sure that everything went well.

This pageant – however still small and limited in scope – deserves much attention because of their marine conservation advocacy. normannorman.com is giving its 100% support to the organizers because the efforts are definitely in the upswing in the years to come.
Early yesterday morning, the officers and candidates of Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 – along with the production, HMUA team and yours truly – boarded the bus that brought everyone to the Batangas Port en route to Puerto Galera where the Swimsuit Competition will be held later in the day at the La Laguna Villas.
National Director Cindy Pacia Madumma (with partners Athena Catriz & Andrea Delgado) led everyone to the official residence – Out of the Blue Resort – from where the order of the day was to visit different sponsoring dive clubs/centers. The ladies were warmly welcomed by both the locals and foreign tourists. A trip to the Puerto Galera Mangrove Conservation and EcoTourism Walkway made the long day more meaningful as high school students assisted the candidates in the planting of mangrove seedlings inspite of the rains that could have spoiled the activity. All of them were game, though.
After today’s preliminaries, tomorrow will be a morning dive before returning to Manila in the afternoon. Here are more photos from Day 1 of the stay.
