Miss USA Andrea Neu (rightmost) was named Miss Air (or 1st Runner-Up) during Miss Earth 2014
Miss USA Allyn Rose (rightmost) placed 3rd Runner-Up in Miss Supranational 2014 two weeks back
Miss USA Tabitha Lipkin (center) defied the odds and scooped the Miss Scuba International 2014 title in Kota Kinabalu
2014 has been a relatively good year for American beauty queens to date. It may not be a truly winning year, but they have managed to score key placements worth noting for an on-and-off pageant powerhouse.
While the crown won by Tabitha Lipkin as Miss Scuba International 2014 is not in the same level of the bigger competitions, it is interesting to note that she is one of only a handful of ladies who nailed both the top victory and the Miss Congeniality award in the process.
And to add up to that feat, Andrea Neu got Miss Air in Miss Earth 2014, Elizabeth Safrit took the 2nd Princess nod in Miss World 2014 and Allyn Rose managed to get 3rd Runner-Up during Miss Supranational 2014. Not bad. Not bad at all.
Next stop is technically Miss Tourism International 2014, but I’m pretty sure fans and followers are more eager beavers for the 63rd Miss Universe in Doral Miami next month. How strong will Miss USA Nia Sanchez register in a batch considered to be one of the toughest in years? Another runner-up placement in the offing, perhaps? Olivia Culpo’s win last 2012 in Las Vegas is still too fresh in our minds.
Will Miss USA Nia Sanchez continue the runner-up streak or do a lot better than being part of the court?
What do you think, dear readers? 😉
Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia is the host of Miss Scuba International 2014
And the finals night is scheduled on November 28, 2014
Miss Scuba Philippines 2014 Amanda Arbitrario will be leaving for Kota Kinabalu soon
Pretty soon, Miss Scuba Philippines 2014 Amanda Arbitrario will be leaving for Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia to represent the Philippines in Miss Scuba International 2014
which will have its finals at the Sutera Harbour Resort
on November 28.
What’s interesting is that, prior to the finals, the candidates will have a separate training location (to be announced) that will form part of their preliminary performance. And this could be one of the main reasons why Panglao beauty Amanda has already spent the past two months learning how to scuba dive. By now, she can already do some deep-sea adventures with confidence.
You can't see the face but that's Miss Scuba Philippines 2014 Amanda Arbitrario during one of her dives.
Let’s support our candidate in Miss Scuba International 2014. Hopefully, she can do one better than the 1st Runner-up placement of Christine Bernasor last year and win the top crown this time around. 🙂

The 12 Finalists. Amanda is on the top row, second from right
During the finals held at the Cebu Pacific Resort in Lapu-Lapu City, a new Miss Scuba Philippines has been crowned, and she is Amanda Arbitrario. She will represent the country in the international finals happening in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia on November 28.
The 22 year-old lass is actually an Information Technology student who wore the sash of Caloocan City (she is Miss Caloocan 2014 after all) during Miss Philippines Earth last summer. She did not win that one, but tried her luck in this marine-themed contest and fortunately came out #1.
There is extra pressure on Amanda’s plate because her predecessor – Christine Paula Bernasor – placed 1st Runner-up last year. Will she do one better and clinch the top spot this time around? We’ll see.
Good luck in Miss Scuba International 2014, girl! 😉

During the Media Lunching of Miss Scuba Philippines 2014, last year’s Christine Paula Love Bernasor – who placed 1st Runner-Up in the international competition – was around to welcome guests. This year’s search promises to be more exciting than the last, with the eventual winner taking home PhP150,000.00 in cash plus the right to represent the country in Miss Scuba International 2014 to be held in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia on November 28.
According to the Press Release, “Applicants for this year’s pageant must be a Filipino Citizen, 18 to 28 years of age, at6 least 5’4′ in height, able to converse in English, know how to swim and a certified diver (at least on the first level), willing to promote marine conservation and Scuba Sport, of good health and good moral character, single and never been married and never given birth to a child, and not under contract to any firm, person or organization.”
Deadline for filing of candidacy will be August 15. You can visit the Facebook Page of Miss Scuba Philippines for more details or you can directly email your inquiries to msscubaPH@gmail.com.
Finals night is scheduled on September 26 at the Pacific Cebu Resort in Lapu-Lapu City.
