Due to the tight dates in between Miss World and Miss Universe, a different Miss Russia will go to London as a result.
Yulia will be hard-pressed to take part in both MU and MW.
And so it came to pass.
The first of the twice-to-compete national pageant winners has finally caved in to the pressure of time.
Miss Russia 2014 Yulia Alipova just couldn’t participate in both Miss Universe 2014 and Miss World 2014 with barely a month in between to move from one to the next.
And guess where she is being sent? To Doral Miami, as expected. It’s a simple case of opting for Trump over Morley.
The beneficiary of the vacated Miss World Russia slot is now 2nd Runner-Up Anastasia Kostenko.
Miss World has now become Anastasia's gain.
It makes me wonder how this turn of events will sit with the Miss World Organization. Only two possibilities, in my opinion. Either Anastasia will do well in London for goodwill’s sake or she will just be a candidate going through the motions of representing her country but without the slimmest of chances to even place. Whatever happens, we might get to see two separate Russian ladies being crowned for MU and MW next year.
As for Yulia, she should figure out prominently in Miss Universe. After all, the Russian organizers have made it clear who is #1 for them.
Pageant and politics. Really strange bedfellows, especially after the third wheel has been kicked out of the mattress.
So will Rolene Strauss of South Africa holler next?
Your thoughts, dear readers? 😉
Yulia Alipova of Balakovo wins Miss Russia 2014. She is 23 years old and stands 5’11”.
She will represent her country in both Miss World 2014 and Miss Universe 2014.
Your thoughts on her?

As we all know by now, Miss World 2013 Megan Young is in Moscow to judge and co-crown Miss Russia 2014 later tonight. The video above is part of her MW diaries where she thanked all well-wishers who sent their greetings and felicitations on her 24th Birthday which she celebrated with Miss Universe 2013 Maria Gabriela Isler and Miss Russia 2013 Elmira Abdrazakova (photo below).

And it finally happened.
Miss World 2013 Megan Lynne Young and Miss Universe 2013 Maria Gabriela Isler meet face-to-face in Moscow to judge and co-assist in crowning Miss Russia 2014. You can easily see the glow in their faces, knowing that both are warm and friendly beauty queens representing the two biggest international beauty competitions.
While Molly’s height towers over our Megan, that detail is already beside the point. You simply can’t deny the fact that the latter exudes a more regal bearing in the pic above.

March 1 is an important date for Russian pageantry because Miss Russia 2014 will be crowned on that day. As is customary with the national finals, the reigning Miss Universe and Miss World will be around to judge and co-assist in crowning the new winner. And that means both Maria Gabriela Isler and our very own Megan Young will meet for the very first time in Moscow for the grand event.
Molly and Megan listed as judges in Miss Russia 2014.
It will be the second trip of Molly to the Russian capital and the first for Megan. So will they hit it off well? I think so. Both ladies are warm and friendly so they should click right away. The dolls above should be the perfect souvenir gifts for their scheduled meeting, don’t you think? 😉
