Her name is Avonlea Paula Paraiso.
The first time I met and briefly spoke with 5’6.5″ Avonlea Paula Paraiso was last April when she attended the victory party of Bb. Pilipinas International 2014 Bianca Guidotti. Back then, she was mulling about taking the pageant route via Miss Philippines Earth 2015. I told her to check out all her options first since there are other competitions to consider.
This girl, who might initially give some readers a Lalaine Edson-ish vibe, was actually 1st Runner-Up during Miss Resorts World Manila 2013 won by Nikita Pia McElroy. Other than that attempt, she decided to go low profile first. She concentrated on her main talent, and that is playing the harp (watch video below). And this could instantly convince others that she might be a better match for Miss World Philippines 2015 instead.

What do you think, dear readers? Should she make the beeline at Gateway, Carousel Gardens or wherever Ms. Cory Quirino will set up shop next year? 😉

While her stint during Miss Resorts World Manila 2013 fell below personal expectations (she did not even enter the Top 5 in that one), Jamie Herrell of Cebu City is back with a vengeance in Miss Philippines Earth 2014 and currently enjoying a highly-favored status among the forty-eight (48) ladies in contention.
Beauty camp Kagandahang Flores has carefully prepared her styling, projection and training. And random feedbacks I’ve been receiving from fellow contestants tell that this girl is oozing with confidence and elan. Her face – a cross between TV actresses G Toengi and Jackie Lou Blanco – never fails to catch the attention of many. If she keeps it up, then we might have another Rodgil Flores titleholder in our midst. 😉

Jamie Herrell is all set to join Miss Philippines Earh 2014.

This year, one of the prime bets from the Queen City of the South is Jamie Herrell. You might remember her as Candidate #1 during Miss Resorts World Manila 2013 – her first beauty pageant here in the metro when she was just 19.
Now, the 5’6 1/2″ Cebuana is moving in close on Miss Philippines Earth 2014 where she will try to get an official spot and hopefully follow the footsteps of Karla Henry.
Measuring at 35.5-26-35, Jamie has been diligently working out to come up with a shapelier figure for the competition. She hopes to do well in the same, just like Kris Tiffany Janson who is now a front-runner in Bb. Pilipinas.
What do you think of her? 😉
Finishing 4th and 5th in Miss Resorts World Manila 2013 respectively, Samantha Purvor and Jaysel Arrozal smile despite the perceived disappointment within.
It’s no secret that one of the major come-ons in joining Miss Resorts World Manila 2013 is the juicy cash prize (PhP500,000.00) going to the winner. And because of this, the official list of candidates this year contain four very familiar names – Samantha Purvor who was already Miss Water in Miss Philippines Earth 2012, Jaysel Arrozal who placed 4th Runner-Up in Miss World Philippines 2011 plus Rhea Nakpil & Gabrielle Runnstrom who were two of the Official Candidates in Bb. Pilipinas 2013.
There were certainly risks they took in joining, but none more glaring than what both Samantha and Jaysel put themselves into. Having been top-tier finishers of big national pageants in the past, they stood losing more in the eyes of pageant followers (and even those who know them personally). And to be defeated by relative newbies made it extra disheartening in the end. I’m sure these ladies have already moved on from the surprisingly weak placements. I just feel slightly bad for them.
I do hope that they can now put their pageant-joining years to rest and start new chapters in their respective lives where sweeter victories can be achieved. 😉

Here’s another potential joiner for 2014. And she’s 100% Pinay
for a change, despite the Z and the desert-sounding name.
Zahara O. Soriano is 19. Her height is 5’8″ (although I think she’s an inch shorter) and with vital stats of 34-24-35. Having joined two (2) beauty pageants this year (Miss Resorts World Manila 2013 and Miss Bikini Philippines 2013), the girl already has a pretty good idea of the ins and outs in the scene. Don’t you thinks she has a bit of Dindi Gallardo vibe in her?
But first things first. She needs to be taken by one of the beauty camps. And I’m being led to believe that KF might get the first option on her.
If Zahara ends up enlisting and screening early next year, then she must have already started training. Let’s wait and see. 😉
Avonlea Paraiso finished 1st Runner-Up in the recent finals of Miss Resorts World Manila 2013.
18 years old, standing 5’8″ and 1st Runner-Up in the Miss Resorts World Manila 2013 finals held last weekend. That’s Avonlea Paraiso for you. A Lalaine Edson deadringer for some.
You might ask. So what’s so unique and special about Avonlea that you haven’t seen in other potential candidates so far? Well, she plays the harp (watch the video below). So the next comment would read like…”this girl is for Miss World Philippines!”
And my answer would be: “I believe she is more interested in Bb. Pilipinas if ever.”
So let’s just wait and see where she will eventually sign up.

Newly-crowned Miss Resorts World Manila 2013 is one happy girl.
Last Saturday night, a Davaoena won half a million pesos after being crowned Miss Resorts World Manila 2013. If Nikita Pia McElroy’s name sounds familiar, she was the young lady rumored last March to represent us in Miss Teen Universe 2013 but turned out to be untrue.
Anyways, the 5’9″ Nikita is all of 19 years old and beaming with pride after claiming victory over her more talked-about runners-up (1st RU Avonlea Paraiso, 2nd RU Natasha Julian, 3rd RU Samantha Purvor and 4th RU Jaysel Arrozal).
So the next question that begs to be asked is if she is interested at all in joining Bb. Pilipinas 2014. At this point, I don’t think she will be inclined to do so. Her contract with Resorts World Manila has just started and I doubt it if she will be allowed to switch interest so soon.
Count her in for Bb. Pilipinas 2015. That would be a more reasonable guess. 😉
