From Australia to Bacolod, here are six of the early birds for Miss Republic of the Philippines
Just when you think it’s all quiet on the Miss Republic of the Philippines front, here comes a string of images showing some of the ladies who are already confirmed Official Candidates of the contest. And most of them are the ones from Filipino Communities abroad.
I’m not giving out the names just yet (so as not to preempt the formal announcement), but feast your eyes on the ladies from North Carolina, Kentucky, Austria, Australia, Rome, Bacolod, Gensan and Guimaras Island. Most of them won individual searches that awarded them the right to automatically participate in the competition proper.
And the list will get even longer with the Final Screening scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at the Fisher Mall in QC. The names of the homegrown bets will be finalized. And soon, they will prepare themselves for the Miss RP ride of their lives.
Here are two more from Gensan and Guimaras Island.

The July 11 screening at Fisher Mall
Come July 21, or Tuesday next week, the final national screening of Miss Republic of the Philippines will be held at Fisher Mall to determine the complete line-up of Official Candidates who will vie for the crown. Expect a more jam-packed event as the ladies still in contention will try to outshine each other to get a place in the Top 20 slots which will usher in the qualifiers into a totally different world that will seek to bring out their beauty and intelligence.
And just to let you in on the schedule of activities awaiting them, below is a list of future events that will keep them busy all throughout the pre-pageant period leading to the finals night on September 9 (venue to be announced soon).
Above is the schedule of activities for Miss Republic of the Philippines. Some details may be changed or modified on a per-need basis.
Please take note of all the details so you can come prepared for the screening

In the meantime, watch a video of the 1st NCR Screening held at Pioneer Highlands.

Youthful-looking Angela Clemente will be Miss Abra for Miss Republic of the Philippines (Photo credit: Angelle Nieva)
Jill Angela Pearl Clemente is a young (she’s only 17 years-old
) and tall (around 5’8″ on bare feet
) lass who takes roots from the province of Abra but is currently residing in La Union due to her studies. A sophomore at Lorma Colleges, she is all set to take her major subjects next year en route to hopefully finishing a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy by 2018.
Young as she is, Angela is already envisioning an advocacy that will support her beloved Abra, and that is “ingenuity in indigenous products”. She wants to help in making these native outputs become more competitive in the local and overseas market to help the livelihood of people where she came from.
While studies will always be a priority, joining beauty pageants is, as Angela termed it, a magnificent dream that is now starting to take shape. Let’s see if this girl – who was selected during the Region 1 screenings by Baraka Model Management International – has what it takes to step up to the plate once she starts competing with the other beauties in Miss Republic of the Philippines.
Good luck, Angela! 🙂
Apple Anne Bartolome will represent Kalinga in Miss Republic of the Philippines
Apple reigned as Miss Tabuk City 2014
Her name is Apple Anne Michelle Bartolome. And she will represent Kalinga in the upcoming Miss Republic of the Philippines Beauty Pageant.
You may remember 5’7″ Apple as one of the Official Candidates of Miss Grand Philippines 2014 won by Kimberly Karlsson. She was still a relative newbie last year. But since then, she promised to train hard for her next pageant. And what more than six months of intensive preparations has done to her will be revealed next month once she is formally introduced as part of this year’s batch for Miss RP.
Apple Anne during Miss Grand Philippines 2014
I asked Apple to describe herself to me. And here is what she related: “I am Apple Anne Michelle Balnao Bartolomeo, 23 years-old and from the province of Kalinga (Mestiza Kalinga-Bago). I studied Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Northern Luzon Adventist College.
I am among the 4 children of a Bus Driver and a Sari-Sari store vendor. I’m currently working at the Rural Health Unit of Tabuk City as a Community Nurse under the employment of the Department of Health CAR.
My advocacy as a Kalinga Native is to promote my hometown’s Beauty and Culture into a wider point of view, not only through other regions but nationwide and even worldwide…And lastly, to help students to access education through the help and assistance of our government for them to fully understand and appreciate its importance.”
She is all of 5'11" and a native of Ilocos Norte
I’m a sucker for provincial beauties who remain untapped but showing loads of potential for national pageantry. And this statuesque headturner from Ilocos Norte might be the girl to face up to the glamazons of the representatives from the Filipino Communities of Austria and Italy (both circling the 6′ mark
) in the ongoing search for Miss Republic of the Philippines.
Her name is Sheena Seinne Bolaños Dalo, or Sheena Dalo for short. A freelance fashion model up north who also works as an Airport Rep with the Provincial Capitol in Laoag City, she is 24 years old and all of an enviable 5’11” (even slightly more) in height. And it would be safe to say at this point that she will be proudly wearing the sash of Miss RP Ilocos Norte when the candidates are announced middle of next month.
Sheena was sourced by Baraka Model Management International for Miss Republic of the Philippines during the provincial screenings. Some of you might wonder why she would join Miss RP than the other nationals which will have pageant missions abroad. Well, let’s just say that education is a big come-on for her. She doesn’t come from a well-off family (her father is a farmer and her mother a housekeeper/nanny), so getting the chance to pursue higher studies (on top of her degree in Hotel/Restaurant Services) is of prime importance.
Watch out for Sheena, dear readers! 🙂

Earlier in the day, the first leg of the NCR Screening for Miss Republic of the Philippines got underway at the Function Room of Pioneer Highlands in Mandaluyong City. Your blogger sat on the panel as part of the screening committee, alongside Miss RP President Lynette Padolina and businesswomen Marcott Almeda and Geraldine Beltran.
The screenees had a relatively long grilling time as Ms. Padolina made the extra effort to measure the ladies’ ability to explain themselves and their respective advocacies. Included among those who were short-listed for the final assessment are Riza Diego (a 5’10” beauty with good communication skills), Ma. Daziella Gange, Anna Mae Cagurangan, Jenny Rose Ignacio and Mary Rose Cajayon. They will join the rest of the contenders for the last leg on July 11 at the Fisher Mall to know the complete cast of Official Candidates who will vie for Miss Republic of the Philippines.
