Cristelle Tolentino has crossed over from Miss Republic of the Philippines to Miss Manila and now, Mutya ng Pilipinas
And so her pageant career continues. Cristelle Tolentino, that’s who. Fresh from relinquishing the Miss Manila crown to Maria Gail Tobes last month, she suited up for her next challenge back to the national level. She is Candidate #3 of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2017.
You will remember Cristelle as taking part in the re-activated Miss Republic of the Philippines more than two years ago where she made it to the semifinals. That was the start that triggered her interest in beauty contests. And mind you, she is not your run-of-the-mill joiner. A Cum Laude graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, she comes as an articulate 23 year-old who knows her personal style and how to express her thoughts with clarity. Given her experience in the City of Manila, she brings to the table a wealth of knowledge about Tourism and the like – the specific focus of Mutya ng Pilipinas.
The degree of difficulty is higher this time around for Cristelle. And she knows it too well that upping her game plan is a must. Let’s see how the next couple of weeks will pan out. During yesterday’s Press Presentation, she was one of the standouts. The mission for now is to push herself up and be one of the favored ones for the titles at stake.

Good luck, Cristelle!
The Dentist is in! And she is your Binibini 40 Kristel Nones Guelos
Time now to take a closer look at your Binibini 40 Kristel Nones Guelos. This pretty young Dentist is such an inspiring sight, whether you are a patient undergoing root canal sessions or a pageant watcher following the scheduled activities of the Bb. Pilipinas 2017 Official Candidates. Trained by Kagandahang Flores
for the nationals, she is visibly more confident and sure of herself now, compared to previous pageant turns in Miss Manila and Miss Philippines Earth.
Let’s listen to her now.
“I am Kristel Guelos, 24, from Tanauan City, Batangas. I am a graduate of Centro Escolar University Manila and a Dentist by profession. I own my small dental clinic located in our province, Tanauan City. I’ve been practicing the same for almost 2 years now. I finished my 1 year training program in orthodontics just last year and planning to enroll at the Philippine Association of Aesthetic Dentistry (unless I win Binibini, of course!). In line with my profession, I want to focus more on cosmetic dentistry and oral surgery as well. Joining pageants has always been my passion. I’ve been into pageants since I was 19. My best finish to date was being crowned Miss Manila 2016 3rd Runner-Up. Becoming a Binibini of Bb Pilipinas means a thousand words. For me, it is a sense of fulfillment and a achievement. It is also a platform to inspire people to make better versions of themselves and take the lead to share the love and compassion to serve others.”

Good luck in Bb. Pilipinas 2017, Kristel!
Kristel may be a Dentist first and foremost. But becoming a beauty queen is one thing that she wants to realize and not just dream about. The field of competition is tough. But she is ready to give it everything she’s got.
Your impressions of Binibini 40, dear readers? 🙂
Tall and beautiful Chantal Roi Serafica for Bb. Pilipinas 2017
The first time I laid eyes on Chantal Roi Serafica was during Bodyshots Philippines 2014 when she was still young and innocent-looking – qualities that fashion designers are looking for in prospective runway and photographic models. She already stood an easy 5’9″ then.
And then last year during Miss Manila, this girl re-surfaced as one of the twenty contenders for the city-based beauty competition. That was her first taste of actual pageantry. And this year, she is ready to go full steam ahead with an intended filing of application for Bb. Pilipinas 2017. Having grown an inch more the past couple of years, she will troop to BPCI with a statuesque stance and looks that could be styled according to the standards set by the competition.
Let’s see if Chantal will become one of this year’s Binibinis. 🙂

Will this half Filipino, half Pakistani try her luck in Bb Pilipinas 2017?

Back to fresh faces once more, might I interest you to take a closer look at this half Filipino, half Pakistani beauty who is aged 20 and stands 5’9″? Her name is Mehwish de Castro and was Miss Oriental Mindoro 2015.
Mehwish finished cum laude with a BS Education (major in Science degree) and got her first pageant taste in the big city when she took part in Miss Manila 2016 where she finished in the Top 15. She is a public speaker in personality development and academic topics related to Science & Technology. But not to be labeled as an out-and-out seriously scholastic lass, she is also a trained belly dancer.
Will we get to see Mehwish trying out in the screening of Bb. Pilipinas 2017?

Mutya 9 is Joanna Marie Rabe of Zambales
Joanna Marie Rabe of Zambales is #9 among the Official Candidates of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016. You will also remember her as the 4th Runner-Up of Miss Manila 2016 which concluded with the Coronation Night last June 24.
This time around, Joanna is upping the ante with her candidacy in this national competition. And she is armed with more confidence and charm. She knows what she wants. And it’s one of the Mutya crowns.
Here is how Joanna describes herself:
I’m half-British. I don’t know anything about my real father, but it’s okay because I have a stepfather who is really good to me. I graduated with a Bachelor degree in Tourism Management and I am having my training at Lufthansa Technik Philippines. I was born and raised in Iba, Zambales. I am the eldest among 6. I am helping my family out being a scholar of our provincial government before and right now I’m helping my sibling in there schooling. I’ve Joined several pageants, such as Bb. Republica Filipina 2016 where I was chosen Bb.Luzon 2016, BB.Zambales and Miss Manila 2016. I’ve also joined an International Model Search which is the Super Model International 2015 where I am one of the top 12 finalists. I really want to have a crown and represent our country in pageants abroad and also I want to pursue my advocacy and that is helping the street children and people with disabilities.
So there you go with Joanna Marie Rabe. What’s your take on this girl? Is the time right for her to take a good crown? 🙂

You will remember Cristelle Tolentino as an Official Candidate of last year’s Miss Republic of the Philippines when her best efforts were rewarded with only a semifinal spot. This year, she went full steam ahead and swept the Miss Manila 2016 competitions by nailing her Top 5 Q&A and becoming the successor of Kaycie Lynn Fajardo. She edged out top favorite Mercegrace Raquel who took home 1st Runner-Up honors. Crowd pick Ganiel Krishnan placed 2nd Runner-Up with Kristel Guelos and Joanna Rabe filling in as 3rd and 4th Runners-Up, respectively.
Congratulations, Cristelle! You may not be the tallest, but you have proven yourself to be the mightiest. Your wish for a crown has now been fulfilled! 🙂
Miss Manila 2016 Cristelle Tolentino
Miss Manila 2015 Kaycie Lynn Fajardo will crown her successor tonight. She is wearing an Edwin Uy creation above.
For tonight’s finals of Miss Manila 2016 at the PICC Reception Hall, I short-listed twelve potential winners of the crown. Based on the photo grid below from left to right per row, they are: (first row) Chantal Roi Serafica, Mercegrace Raquel, Ganiel Akrisha Krishnan, Ramona Yamat, (second row) Krishia Antonio, Kristelle Tolentino, Roselyn Everdo, Meiji Cruz, (third row) Janette Roanne Sturm, Paola Bianca Bagaforo, Sarah Margarette Joson and Ruth Linganay.
A few familiar names actually popped up in the stated list as previous joiners of Bb. Pilipinas, Miss World Philippines, Miss Republic of the Philippines and even Bodyshots Philippines. Let us see if previous experiences will hold them in good stead during the proceedings later.
I handpicked the twelve ladies above as potential winners
For now, I am pinning my hopes on Mercegrace Raquel, Kristelle Tolentino and Chantal Roi Serafica as personal favorites. But I wouldn’t mind seeing one of my other selected ladies become Miss Manila 2016 and succeed the beautiful Kaycie Lynn Fajardo from last year.
The Coronation Night will be hosted by Edu Manzano and KC Concepcion and will have a delayed telecast on TV5.
Good luck to all the candidates! 🙂
