Ireland’s good luck with the Miss Universe pageant has been few and far between. Roberta Brown almost made it in 1983 when she placed 2nd Runner-Up to New Zealand’s Lorraine Downes. Adding up the semifinal finishes of Andrea Roche in 1997, Olivia Tracey in 1985, Loraine Bernadette Enriquez in 1977 and Julie Ann Farnham in 1975, Irish contenders have almost always been shut out in competition. So unlike the Miss World where their performance continues to maintain a relatively healthy record.
Will Rozanna Purcell change all that and boost Ireland’s record with a Miss Universe win? She placed 1st Runner-Up to Diana Donnelly in the Miss Universe-Ireland 2009 edition and re-joined this year to become her country’s bet in the Miss Universe 2010 in Las Vegas next month.
The road will be rocky and challenging. But if she has the luck of the Irish to guide her along the way, then big things could be in store for this blue-eyed stunner. 😉
