Christi as Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific 2010
There’s nothing new anymore about established beauty queens crossing over to other national beauty pageants and winning a second title to their names. The likes of Catriona Gray, Carlene Aguilar, Katarina Rodriguez, Kirby Ann Basken (from Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific 2006 to Miss Universe Norway 2007) and Leren Mae Bautista fall under that category – even the subject of our blog entry for today.
But what really makes Christi Lynn McGarry more unique compared to the rest? I can name two (2):
Christi McGarry during the first time she represented the Philippines in Miss Intercontinental back in 2010.
1) She was crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific 2010 but was sent instead to Miss Intercontinental 2010 in the Dominican Republic after the original Mutya ng Pilipinas Intercontinental 2010 Carla Lizardo could not fulfill the overseas mission. She placed in the Top 15 and was named Continental Queen of Asia Oceania. In the same year, she was appointed to represent the Philippines in Top Model of the World where she also finished in the Top 15.
2) When Christi suited up for Bb. Pilipinas 2015, she wanted so much to win any of the titles at stake except for Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental for obvious reasons. But as fate would have it, she earned the right to represent us in Miss Intercontinental for a second time. The only difference is that she performed better by grabbing 1st Runner-Up honors to Valentina Rasulova of Russia and claiming the Continental Queen of Asia Oceania sash once more.
Christi (2nd from right) was more successful in her second attempt when she finished 1st Runner-Up during Miss Intercontinental 2015
Christi’s pageant career is colorful to say the least. Maybe the hues are not as bright as, say competing in either Miss Universe or Miss International. But all things being equal, her share of achievements cannot be sneered upon. Here is someone who vied twice for the same international pageant crown, made a creditable mark at first and returned as a more polished and prepared fighter five years later. All #ForThePhilippines.

Miss Intercontinental 2015 1st Runner-Up during her homecoming presscon at Novotel Manila Araneta Center
Last Monday, January 11, Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2015 and Miss Intercontinental 2015 1st Runner-Up Christi Lynn McGarry was feted by BPCI in a Homecoming Press Conference held at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center with some members of the media present to warmly welcome her back. Proudly displaying the crystal trophy she won from the competition in Magdeburg, Germany, she also wore the sash as Miss Intercontinental Asia-Oceania after she topped all the candidates from the region.
From all of us here at normannorman.com, good job in representing us, Christi! 🙂

Miss Intercontinental 2015 Valentina Rasulova of Russia
First Runner Up Christi Lynn McGarry of the Philippines
Valentina Rasulova of Russia is the new Miss Intercontinental. She defeated more than 60 other delegates for the title at the Grand Ballroom of Maritim Congress Hotel in Magdeburg, Germany. Her First Runner-Up is our very own Christi Lynn McGarry, with Brianne Bailey of the United States making it as 2nd Runner-Up. Katherine Garcia of Venezuela and Tendai Bongani Humda of Zimbabwe complete the Top 5, as well as the continental winners.
Other ladies who made the semifinals are from Austria, Ukraine, Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Thailand, India, Korea, San Marino, Sao Tome & Principe, Poland and Curacao.
Congratulations to the winners, especially Christi Lynn McGarry for putting up a good fight! 🙂
Pia, Hillarie, Christi and Leren will start their big fights one after another (Art layout: Pao Oap)
In just hours from now, the big fight of the four Queens will begin in different parts of the world. And it would be interesting to add that all of them have been trained and polished by Aces & Queens for their respective competitions.
First stop is Magdeburg, Germany where Christi Lynn McGarry will vie to become the very first Miss Intercontinental winner of the Philippines. A lot is at stake for our statuesque representative because this is her second time joining the same pageant. And based on my following of the pre-pageant proceedings, our bet has a strong chance of making it. The ball is round, of course. But Miss Philippines is truly a regal presence amidst the roster of candidates this year.
Next in line is Sanya, China where another Miss Philippines – Hillarie Danielle Parungao – will fight for the honor of becoming the 2nd Miss World victor of the country. This one is a much more difficult challenge considering the number of delegates (114) and the host country that has never really been a big fan of our bets to reach the top. But I trust our entry to give it her absolute best. Entering the finals as an underdog could prove beneficial in a way. The mission is strong, but the pressure is just right. I’d really like to see Hil place prominently well.
3rd is the most important venue – Las Vegas, Nevada, USA – where the 64th Miss Universe (or Miss Universe 2015 if you will) is taking place. This is the one solid beauty pageant the whole Philippines would really like to snatch. It’s long overdue, and our Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is shining bright like a diamond in spite of the headstrong competitors circling her like a school of sharks ready to gang up on one goldfish. Our Queen is game, so much so that she has pledged to bring back the best Christmas for all Filipinos – the DIC Crown.
Last but not the least, Putrajaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will be the setting for the finals of Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2015 where Mutya ng Pilipinas 2015 Leren Mae Bautista will attempt to end 2015 on a note higher than the Petronas Towers. Our track record of pageant winnings in this country has been nothing short of amazing. And while some of you pageant fans have not really been convinced of the prestige the title brings, please keep in mind that a win will always be an achievement where our delegate poured her heart and soul into the fight.
#ForThePhilippines all the way, Pia, Hillarie, Christi and Leren! 😉
At around 3:00AM of December 19 here in Manila, Miss Intercontinental 2015 will be streamed live from Magdeburg, Germany. Miss Philippines Christi Lynn McGarry will try to win the Philippines’ very first crown in the competition in what is her second time to participate as a candidate.
We wish Christi Lynn McGarry all the best in her efforts to bring honor to the country via Miss Intercontinental 2015.
Let’s look forward to a successful journey for our bet in this German city.
Miss Philippines Christi Lynn McGarry inside Restaurant Mediterranean Magdeburg
It is wintry cold in Magdeburg, Germany this time of year, but the Miss Intercontinental 2015 Candidates don’t seem to mind the chilly weather. Nowadays, they have been touring around the city and enjoying all the cultural sights and attractions on offer.
Miss Philippines Christi Lynn McGarry continues to blend well with the other ladies, and has sweetly bonded with a good number. But by the start of this week, they will brave their individual fears as the real competition begins before the judgment night in Maritim Hotel come December 18.
But for now, enjoy Magdeburg! 🙂
Is Christi Lynn McGarry too tall to stand side-by-side the other candidates?
The latest Raymond Saldaña shot of Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2014 Kris Tiffany Janson
As 2nd Runner-Up of Miss Intercontinental 2014
With Miss Intercontinental 2015 in full swing, let us do a throwback on our representative last year who came close to winning the crown, also in Magdeburg, Germany. Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2014 and Miss Intercontinental 2014 2nd Runner-Up Kris Tiffany Janson was brimming with confidence when she departed for the host country. And all pageant fans and followers were optimistic of her chances to nail our first victory in the said competition. Of course, somewhere along the way, there were persistent rumors of “things” happening in the background. Such talks were initially dismissed up until that fateful finals night when two (2) candidates from Asia-Oceania were called to the magic circle instead of just one. And the rest is debatable pageant history.
Everything’s water under the bridge by now. With Christi Lynn McGarry bannering our country at the moment, our hopes are beginning to grow once more. But let’s give this momentary spotlight to Kris as I encourage you to watch the video below showing her journey from Cebu to Manila to Magdeburg. 🙂
Can you spot Miss Philippines among the candidates of Miss Intercontinental 2015?
Nowadays, the candidates of Miss Intercontinental 2015 are busy touring key German cities and visiting Sponsors all over. In the photo above, they were brought to Emag AG for photo ops and a short time with the people behind the establishment.
Can you spot Miss Philippines Christi Lynn McGarry in the top group shots? It really isn’t hard to find her because she is a standout.
After quick rounds with the pageant sponsors, they will be off to explore more of the tourist sights. That should be fun for everyone. 🙂
Misses Philippines and India are rooming together for Miss Intercontinental 2015
Here now is the next set of pageant roommates that includes one of our own. Miss Philippines Christi Lynn McGarry is partnered to share a hotel room with Miss India Snehapriya Roy who can actually pass off as having a Southeast Asian-mix from either Malaysia or Singapore.
The Indian lass checked in way ahead of Christi. But now that they are buddies, the bonding begins as can be seen in the photo grid above. Expect the two to have a good number of snapshots most of the time.
By the way, our bet was one of the last to register for this year’s batch. Talk about making some sort of a grand entrance in the competition. 🙂

This coming Friday, December 4, Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2015 Christi Lynn McGarry will depart for Magdeburg, Germany to start her second quest for the Miss Intercontinental 2015. It will be a crucial pageant mission for the statuesque New Yorker since she will be making up for her first bid for the same crown she vied for as a Mutya ng Pilipinas last 2010. While all eyes will be on both Miss Universe and Miss World (since it shares the same final week), it bears watching how she will do this time around.
I am very optimistic of Christi. And gut feel tells me that she will do us proud come December 18.
Hi! Norman here. When I'm not working, I spend most of my free time planning on daily blogs. If you will notice, I always make sure that a fresh topic comes out everyday - not an easy thing to do but it's all good. Thanks for dropping by and enjoy the visit!
