We all know former Bb. Pilipinas Grand International Nicole Cordoves as part of the tandem (along with Caloy Buendia) behind The Silver Linings Academy. On her own, she has started a YouTube channel where she shares her expertise in Q&A mentoring and pageant preparations.
Below are her first three instructional videos on the subject matter.
During yesterday’s Grand National Callback and Press Presentation of Mr & Miss Hannah’s World Tourism Philippines, your blogger got to spend some quality bonding time with Miss Grand International 2016 1st Runner-Up Nicole Cordoves during the late dinner at XO 46 Bistro Filipino that followed the event. And since today is her birthday, she got her (not-so-much-of-a) surprise birthday greetings from everyone, including the staff of the said restaurant who group-serenaded her.
Happy Birthday, Nicole! Your career is definitely on the upswing. And I am happy that you continue to be the warm and bubbly Queen I enjoy spending time with.
Five Asian winners in the international pageant stage for 2016 so far
Even in male pageants, Asian men are not lagging behind
Thailand won Miss Tourism Metropolitan International as well
To date, 2016 has been a harvest-filled year for Asians in the global pageant stage – both female and male categories. Miss International, Miss Supranational, Miss Grand International, The Miss Globe, Miss United Continents and Miss Tourism Metropolitan International have reigning winners from the continent courtesy of Kylie Verzosa, Srinidhi Shetty, Ariska Putri Pertiwi, Dimple Patel, Jeslyn Santos and Chalisa Amanda respectively.
On the other side, Mister World, Mister Model International, Mister Tourism World and Man of the Year are also now being held by Asians via Rohit Khandelwal, Narapat Sakunsong, Okkar Min Maung and Karan Singhdole respectively.
And the year is not over yet. With three more finals coming in soon – Miss World, Miss Tourism International and Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International – I bet the number will increase.
And mind you, I did not even include Miss Asia which has a Filipina titleholder as this contest is continent-focused.
Truly, Asia is in its best year of performance in international pageantry. 🙂

Nicole for the National Children’s Congress of the DSWD
There is always something good to be said about beauty queens who use their titles to create a platform where their voices can be heard on a national level. Done with the job of representing the Philippines in Miss Grand International 2016 and bringing home the 1st Runner-Up trophy as proof of achievement, Bb. Pilipinas Grand International 2016 Nicole Cordoves is currently setting her sights on more important advocacies that affect the youth. And boy, is she really in her best elements doing these activities.
For the National Children’s Congress of the DSWD, she spoke to the young ones and shared the importance of being aware about the social issues affecting them and life in general. This is what she posted on social media about it.
“Hindi tayo ginawa ng Diyos para maging ordinaryo lamang, may ekstraordinaryong tadhana siya na isinulat para sa atin. | You weren’t created by God to become ordinary, you are all given an extraordinary purpose.
It was a priceless opportunity to be able to speak to these kids about life. When the floor was opened for questions, they asked a lot of social issues about our country today. They are aware, they are worried, and they need us to make sure that it really is going to be okay.

And Nicole doesn’t stop there. She also shared her time for the reading advocacy of Manila Bulletin called “Read for 20” (or simply put, make a habit of reading at least 20 minutes a day
). Here is her take on this.
Nicole for Manila Bulletin’s Read For 20
“Every time you finish reading a book, you see the world a little more differently. This is why I am sharing Manila Bulletin’s advocacy, READ FOR 20! I am encouraging everyone to keep a book in your bag, get off social media and read for AT LEAST 20 minutes a day. So drop your phones and grab a book!”
There is something really important about being Nicole Cordoves. She puts into good use the power and responsibility given to her as a national beauty titleholder. And knowing this lady, she won’t stop doing what she loves best. In fact, she’s just getting started!
I love you, Nicole! 😉

Dear readers, if you still haven’t checked out the Instagram account of Miss Grand International 2016 1st Runner-Up Nicole Cordoves @binibiningnicolecordoves, it has more than a few images of her extended vacation in the US (right after the competition in Las Vegas
) which she spent on the West Coast. And boy, did she really enjoy that part of her journey to the max.
So what’s new with Nicole? Well, she will also have a victory celebration with her #Cordobesties this coming weekend. I was invited to take part (as I know that the honoree will definitely put me on the guest list). Sadly, I will be in Cotabato City to judge a pageant this Friday evening and will go straight to Sariaya, Quezon for a media launch of Figuras 2017. That will really test my resistance to fatigue!

I briefly chatted with Miss Grand International 2016 1st Runner-Up Nicole Cordoves yesterday and she told me that she is satisfied with what she has achieved in the competition because she knows deep in her heart that she did EVERYTHING that she can and has overcome so much for this mission.
Now what makes me extra happy that Nicole won’t be just a nominal 1st Runner-Up. Pageant owner Nawatt Itsaragrisil said that she will indeed be part of the different travels for Miss Grand International, and this will be where her speaking skills will come in handy. It also helps that all three Top 3 placers are from the ASEAN region so gathering them as trio all the time will not be a big concern.
So from this point till the next Miss Grand International in Vietnam on October 25, 2017, expect to see Ika, Nicole and Supaporn to be active with the organization. 🙂

I know you all want to watch the performance of our very own Nicole Cordoves once again.
We should all be happy that she claimed 1st Runner-Up honors to Ariska Putri Pertiwi of Indonesia even if it feels less than the pleasant feeling I am encouraging.
