Photos from the crowning of Claire Elizabeth Parker as the new Miss Grand International 2015 (Photo credit: Beautyqueen)
After all the exchange of explanations and justifications and corrections and what-have-you between Nawat Itsaragrisil and Anea Garcia about the reasons behind the latter “stepping down” as Miss Grand International 2015 and the organizer’s defense of the decision to let her go (I’m too tired to read everything now
), I would rather feature the recent crowning of Claire Elizabeth Parker of Australia as the new reigning titleholder and will effectively assume all the still-unfinished duties that the crown requires.
Honestly, I am happy with Claire’s ascent because she deserved to have won last year instead of Anea. It’s just that the Thais (or Nawat and his team for that matter) were so quickly enamored by the statuesque presence and dramatic moments onstage (and the fact that she holds a US passport – I was told – even if I still could not clearly fathom the logic behind the alleged preference) of the latter.
Regardless of what people will say about Miss Grand International, it still is recognized by many pageant directors (even our own BPCI).
Beaming with pride, Claire Elizabeth Parker is

Now the question running inside my head is this – will Bb. Pilipinas crown a Miss Grand Philippines 2016 or will a potential appointment for one of the runners-up be the case for this edition?
Anea Garcia is out. Her First Runner-Up Claire Elizabeth Parker of Australia is now the new Miss Grand International
And so, the first dethronement for Miss Grand International has now actually happened.
Anea Garcia of Dominican Republic, Miss Grand International 2015 is no longer the reigning titleholder. Her First Runner-Up Claire Elizabeth Parker of Australia has effectively taken over.
Here is the breaking news of pageant owner Nawatt Itsaragrisil:
With immediate effect, Miss Anea Garcia will step down from her position as Miss Grand International 2015 due to unable to fulfil and follow the contractual agreement with Miss Grand International Organisation.
We are pleased to welcome Miss Claire Elizabeth Parker to take over this honourable position and continue the honourable duty as Miss Grand International 2015.
Congratulations to Miss Claire Elizabeth Parker as the new Miss Grand International 2015.
Miss Grand International Organisation
What say you, dear readers?
Nawatt is not the hardest to please, pageant-wise. So the dethronement of Anea must have been really such a big burden on him to finally make this grand (no pun intended) decision.
So does this mean our very own Parul Shah is now 2nd Runner-Up?
Miss Grand International 2015 Anea Garcia
Now you can watch the Miss Grand International 2015 Coronation Night in high definition. The live streaming last October 25 was not the most engaging to watch because of the less than stable data/broadband connection. Relive the victory of Anea Garcia and the 3rd Runner-Up placement of our very own Parul Shah in crisp and super clear quality.
And while you’re at it, count all the Miss Universe-inspired segments that the organizers used for the whole show.

Parul Shah with her two trophies from Miss Grand International 2015
Parul Shah made her signature walk as she entered the Monet Ballroom of Novotel Manila Araneta Center during the Homecoming Press Conference yesterday afternoon. And all invited guests applauded with joy for our Miss Grand Philippines who placed 3rd Runner-Up to Miss Grand International 2015 Anea Garcia and clinched the Best in National Costume special award in the process.
Parul’s Bb. Pilipinas 2015 sisters were present to give their congratulatory messages. Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2014 Yvethe Marie Santiago was also there. And as tradition, Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta spoke last.
It was a very happy event. And we couldn’t be more pleased for Parul who, at 27,will retire from beauty pageants with a big smile on her face. 🙂
Ann Colis, Parul Shah and Judah Cohen started the ball rolling for the Philippines
First, it was Ann Colis who was crowned Miss Globe 2015 last month in Toronto, Canada. Then last night, Parul Shah made it to the magic circle and clinched 3rd Runner-Up honors (aside from getting the Best in National Costume trophy
) during the Coronation Night of Miss Grand International 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand. And just late this morning in Panama City, Judah Jyreh Cohen entered the Top 5 of Mister Tourism International 2015 and was awarded Best International Look in the process.
Things are looking up for the Philippines in international pageantry so far. And we’re not even in the crowded midst of the busy season yet. Up next would be Miss International 2015 in Tokyo come November 5 where Janicel Lubina is eyeing the country’s 6th crown in the popular pageant. There is also Mister Model International 2015 in Miami on November 11 for Arcel Yambing, plus the bigger Mister International 2015 here in Manila by November 30.
And don’t get me started with crazy December!
I’m hoping for a more victorious – or placement-filled – cycle for our representatives in 2015. We are so back! 😀
Next in line for November are (left-to-right) : Janicel Lubina for Miss International 2015, Arcel Yambing for Mister Model International 2015 and Rein Villareal for Mister International 2015
Winners all (left to right): 3rd Runner-Up Parul Shah of the Philippines, 1st Runner-Up Claire Parker of Australia, Miss Grand International 2015 Anea Garcia, 2nd Runner-Up Vartika Singh and 4th Runner-Up Ruttikorn Kunsom
Anea is the big winner
Miss Grand International must really have a soft spot for girls from the Caribbean nations. Miss Dominican Republic, Anea Garcia (who was also Miss Rhode Island during Miss USA 2015 where ahe reached Top 5
), was just named 2015 winner, and follows Janelee Chaparro of Puerto Rico and Daryanne Lees Garcia of Cuba to become the 3rd from the islands to clinch the top spot. She is also the third to become Miss Grand International. She bested 77 other candidates from all over the world. Her emotional answer during the Top 5 Question about her being a child of rape and how she tied it up with forgiving and peace must have been the clincher.
Claire Parker of Australia was chosen 1st Runner-Up, with Vartika Singh of India getting 2nd Runner-Up placement. Our very own Parul Shah was next in line as 3rd Runner-Up, with host delegate Rattikorn Kunsom closing the magic circle as 4th Runner-Up.
Our bet was also named Best in National Costume as she really stood out in that segment in the Edwin Uy creation she wore.
Congratulations to all the winners! 🙂
Parul in Evening Gown during the Preliminary Competition Show
Tonight, Miss Philippines Parul Shah will give her best fight for the Philippines. The Coronation Night of Miss Grand International 2015 will happen at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok, Thailand. And with the clock ticking fast, let us all watch the video below of our bet as uploaded by Bb. Pilipinas Official before the beauty battle begins. I am hopeful of a good placement, praying for a sweet victory even.
There will be live streaming for sure. You just need to go to www.missgrandinternational.com and you’re all set to witness it all.
