This is one of those bubble-bursting updates, unfortunately.
It only took my last blog post about Miss Globe 2015 Ann Colis to finally break her silence regarding Miss World Philippines 2017 and her talked-about joining. She personally called me up to explain matters very thoughtfully. We had quite an enlightening conversation. Afterwards, I asked her to come up with her official statement on the matter.
“I have considered and still continue to entertain the possibility of joining Miss World Philippines. But 2017 is definitely a no-go because of all my current plans to further pursue my modeling career in the US. Actually, I will be moving to New York City in a month or so to explore more career options out there. And at 24, I really need to do this – travel and get possible projects that would hopefully give me reasons to stay on as an international model. I will be in Toronto soon to judge Miss Globe Canada (and Miss Globe 2017 eventually), but that’s the farthest I plan to get involved in pageantry this year.
By 2018, that is the time when I will definitely sit down and make that one final decision to sign up for Miss World Philippines – a big move that will make all fans and supporters happy. Fingers crossed!
I know that my followers have already started building me up in social media as one of this year’s aspirants. But I sincerely hope that you will still be there with me next year once I focus on joining MWP. By then, it will be a “now-or-never” proposition, and your continuous rally behind my back is something to keep me up and running for another crown.”
If we are to go by interpretation of captions, then one of the latest uploads of Bb. Pilipinas Tourism turned Bb. Pilipinas Globe 2015 and Miss Globe 2015 Ann Colis is indicative of the next step she is very likely to take – “Eyes on the Prize 🌏”.
For the past week now, Ann has been dilly-dallying on finally answering my questions sent via private messages. And I gave her all the room to contemplate on the matter. If she was able to (very discretely) beat the July 22 deadline for Miss World Philippines, then I will definitely see her screening this weekend alongside the other hopefuls.
What’s your take on the possible crossover of Ann Colis, dear readers? Do the rewards far outweigh the risks? 🙂
Miss Globe 2015 Ann Colis during the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Montreal and visiting Notre Dame Church
After Toronto, Miss Globe 2015 Ann Colis hied off to the French-Canadian city of Montreal where the first order of business was to participate in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade where she rode atop a large convertible with two local beauty queens while being paraded around downtown. It was a whole lot of fun for our beauty as the crowds cheered them on all throughout.
Thereafter, she was given the chance to be a tourist when she was given the chance to visit the Notre Dame Cathedral and St. Joseph Church – two awe-inspiring structures which almost moved her to tears. And to think that it was a Palm Sunday she went there, the whole activity became more relevant, being Catholic and all.
Ann would like to thank Ben Chan and Repetto – a #BenchGlobalBrand – for all her shoes.
One more day or two in Montreal before she heads back to Toronto! 🙂
Miss Globe 2015 Ann Colis is in Canada right now
When Miss Globe 2015 Ann Colis flew to Toronto earlier this week, it was sponsored by the Canadian organizers who have booked her to be part of the ongoing Toronto Fashion Week (#TFW). But somewhere along the long-haul flights from Manila to Seoul to Toronto, she got sick that after finally landing in Pearson, she was already way under the weather. It didn’t help any that the freezing temperature in the North American city further aggravated her physical condition. And it was the first day of #TFW as well so she was not able to walk the runway.
And the rest is…..oh let’s give Ann the floor now:
“I’m going to Montreal soon. Hopefully they can still find a way to book me in Toronto Fashion Week. Because they need to pull me out because of that…”
Toronto Fashion Week will run till Friday, March 18 (or Saturday morning Manila). I wish she can still be booked for one or two of the remaining shows before moving to Montreal for the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations with the Filipino Community.
Fingers crossed, Ann! 🙂

The latest Raymond Saldaña capture of Miss Globe 2015 Ann Colis
I’ve been asked this question countless times. How many crowns will Bb. Pilipinas 2016 give away on April 17? My answer has always been six (6) because there is (1) Miss Universe Philippines, (2) Bb. Pilipinas International, (3) Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental, (4) Bb. Pilipinas Supranational, (5) Miss Grand Philippines and (6) the original title of Miss Globe 2015 Ann Colis, Bb. Pilipinas Tourism.
I know that a lot of pageant followers are no longer happy with the sixth-mentioned crown because it is evidently useless for international competition purposes. But do keep in mind that it is what led Ann to be selected as our representative to Miss Globe in Canada where she won the top prize for the Philippines.
As far as my radar detects, the Miss Globe franchise for 2016 is not yet final. The last time I heard, negotiations were still being made. If and when BPCI is not keen on renewing, Ann will always have a title to turn over. And if the affiliation with the Canada-based pageant turns out to be just a one-time thing, then there should be no regrets whatsoever. After all, the reigning winner will still be present during Miss Globe 2016. The more important thing to remember is that Ann was able to prove herself capable of winning, regardless.
And a 6th Bb. Pilipinas will still be there to lean back on. 😉
The euphoria over Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach’s Miss Universe win has now calmed down somehow. So while pageant news has slowed down as expected, why don’t we re-watch videos of our five #1 victories in succession? Let’s start with Miss Universe 2015, then go to Angelia Ong for Miss Earth 2015, before clicking on Miss Globe 2015 with Ann Colis and Miss International Queen 2015 with Trixie Maristela. And finally, check out the crowning highlights of Miss Scuba International 2015 with Cindy Madumma. 🙂

Ann Colis, Parul Shah and Judah Cohen started the ball rolling for the Philippines
First, it was Ann Colis who was crowned Miss Globe 2015 last month in Toronto, Canada. Then last night, Parul Shah made it to the magic circle and clinched 3rd Runner-Up honors (aside from getting the Best in National Costume trophy
) during the Coronation Night of Miss Grand International 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand. And just late this morning in Panama City, Judah Jyreh Cohen entered the Top 5 of Mister Tourism International 2015 and was awarded Best International Look in the process.
Things are looking up for the Philippines in international pageantry so far. And we’re not even in the crowded midst of the busy season yet. Up next would be Miss International 2015 in Tokyo come November 5 where Janicel Lubina is eyeing the country’s 6th crown in the popular pageant. There is also Mister Model International 2015 in Miami on November 11 for Arcel Yambing, plus the bigger Mister International 2015 here in Manila by November 30.
And don’t get me started with crazy December!
I’m hoping for a more victorious – or placement-filled – cycle for our representatives in 2015. We are so back! 😀
Next in line for November are (left-to-right) : Janicel Lubina for Miss International 2015, Arcel Yambing for Mister Model International 2015 and Rein Villareal for Mister International 2015
