NEWLY crowned #MissGlobal2022 Shane Quintana Tormes, arrived yesterday at NAIA Terminal 3 from a successful stint in the Miss Global 2022 live finale held in Bali, Indonesia last June 11. She checked in at the plush Hotel Okura Manila in Resorts World Manila where she was feted with a victory party and media con today, June 18.

Shane was welcomed at the airport by Kagandahang Flores founder and principal trainer Rodin Gilbert B.flores and senior trainer/manager Jess Juaniza Soriano together with several relatives and friends including select members of the media.

Tormes, a multi-titled beauty queen from Camarines Sur, was crowned as Miss Global 2022, besting a field of 62 beauties worldwide in a glittering finale held at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in Bali, Indonesia on June 11 and finally proclaimed and crowned past midnight of June 12, coinciding with the 124th Philippine Independence Day.

Shane, who also won as Miss Talent for a powerful interpretation of Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary,” became the first Filipina to win the US-based international pageant that was established in 2013.

“I am so happy and proud that finally, a Filipina won the coveted Miss Global title,” said Pauline Sofia Laping, President and National Director of Miss Global Philippines. “I was in shock and overwhelmed at Shane’s victorious
feat in Bali. Everything has paid off; she had come a long way to get to this journey and cap it beautifully. To God be the Glory!”

Shane, who was crowned by Miss Global Organization President Van Pham, will reign alongside Miss Global 2021 Jessica da Silva, a single mom who represented the United Arab Emirates, won the title via a series of virtual competitions several weeks ago, and crowned on the same night in Bali.

The pageant allows single women as well as single mothers aged 18-35 to qualify for the tilt. No pageant was held in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Named as runners-up to both Shane and Jessica were: Sandra Lim from Malaysia, 1st; Brooke Rankin from Australia, 2nd; Sandra Boris from Lithuania, 3rd; and Natalia Gurgel from Brazil, 4th.

Shane reprised the victory of Megan Young, the very first and so far, only Filipina Miss World, in the very same venue back in 2013.

A “veteran” whose pageant skills were honed by Kagandahang Flores camp, particularly its founder and head trainer Rodgil Flores and senior trainer Jess Soriano, pasarela trainer Georgette Garrido, Public Speaking and Communications trainers Jerome Balute, Miguel West, Jace Chiong, Ma Romina Gemini Zabala, Nathan Daniel Sison and Niňo Lasin.

Shane’s victory was more meaningful coming after her mom’s death months before her international competition. After she won as Miss Global 2022, she posted on social media, “PARA SA’YO PILIPINAS. Thank you so much Lord And my dearest MAMA for guiding me all throughout this journey. To Miss Global Organization for entrusting me the PINK LOTUS CROWN. Thank you so much for believing in me.”
