Many of you may not be aware that Phuong Khanh Nguyen of Vietnam is back in the country to pursue possible career opportunities that await her after serving one full year as Miss Earth 2018. She crowned her successor – Nellys Pimentel of Puerto Rico – earlier this month.
Earlier today, I had an intimate lunch with this beautiful 24 year-old at No.8 China House inside Grand Hyatt Manila. We spoke about several topics, including her future plans in the Philippines which she considers her second home and a current project to promote the upcoming Miss Bikini Philippines which focuses on both beauty & brains and the health and fitness factors of the pageant.
As a teenager, Phuong Khan had significant body weight issues and it took a lot of struggles both personally and socially to get herself out of what she considers the lowest points in her life so far. Credit goes to her older brother who did everything to raise her self-esteem and direct her attention towards having a healthier lifestyle en route to achieving the best physical version of herself. It took her more than five years (in which period she also took up business studies in Singapore where she was able to polish her facility in English) to achieve a plan that led to her joining the one and only national beauty pageant she ever took part in, got a 2nd Runner-Up placement and was eventually led to the Miss Earth Vietnam 2018 casting where she was selected to represent her country in the Philippines last year. The rest is history as she became the first Vietnamese to win a Grand Slam title in international pageantry.
Watch my exclusive one-on-one with Phuong Khanh:
Right now, Phuong Khanh is ready to face the challenge of new projects and engagements that will further attest to her health and fitness advocacy. Add to that an enviable 22-inch waistline and an expressive self that can easily convince anyone to make her a spokesperson for related endorsements, she is open to the idea of making Manila as her second home base.
With Promedia giving her the privilege of becoming an Ambassador for Miss Bikini Philippines (as well as a judge for the Finals Night on November 28), it won’t be long till she finds herself doing more projects in the country and perhaps, the ASEAN Region.
Best of luck to you, my dear Phuong Khanh!

Maria Fatima “Tim” Alsowyed has had a relatively successful pageant life to date. From being Slimmers World Miss Bikini Philippines 2015, she joined Miss Philippines Earth 2016 and initially landed a runner-up placement in the Top 12 before moving up to the Miss Philippines Fire crown after a shakeup in the magic circle due to the resignation of Imelda Schweighart.
This year, my sources are saying that she will be one of the #KF2018 beauties who will submit their Bb. Pilipinas 2018 applications this weekend or until Monday, January 8. And Tim has really improved a lot from her first venture into national beauty contests. Photo on the left was taken when she was judge during a Pre-Pageant event of MPE2017 held at Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center middle of last year.
You will be pleasantly surprised at her transformation now. Watch out!

Miss Olongapo City Angelee delos Reyes is storming the MPE2013 competition.
Winning Miss Bikini Philippines 2011 was not enough. A semifinal placement in Bb. Pilipinas 2012 just does not cut it either. And representing the country in the Thailand-hosted International Model 2012 is far from pleasing her.
The girl badly wants to win a national beauty title with satisfactory reputation to be taken seriously by pageant aficionados. And Angelee Claudett delos Reyes is stopping at nothing to achieve that.
I admire the chutzpah and determination of MPE2013’s Miss Olongapo City. She is taking the competition very seriously, and will only be happy if she nails the top prize and becomes the Philippine rep to Miss Earth 2013.
I’d really like to see her succeed. Time is slowly running out. And at the rate she is conditioned right now, only a fumble in the all-important environmental Q&A will crush her chances for a victory.
Let’s see what happens comes May 19. If she meets her ultimate objective, then an anticipated retirement from beauty pageants should take effect after her reign. 😉
Miss Resorts World Manila 2011 will have its final screening of candidates on August 6, 2011 where 30 ladies will be short-listed to become this year’s official contenders for the coronation night scheduled on August 27 at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre inside the complex.
If you want your favorite to make it to the Top 30, just click HERE or on the “Choose Your Finalist” image above to go straight to the beauty contest’s FB app where you can cast your vote until August 5, 2011.
There are some familiar faces in there – ladies who previously joined Bb. Pilipinas (Ladylyn Riva & Gizelle Rivamonte), Miss Philippines Earth (Margo Midwinter & Goldy Baroa), Mutya ng Pilipinas (Jo Ann Peria & Lorraine Erum) and Ms. Eco-Tourism Philippines (Sabrina Watts). There’s also a former Miss Bikini Philippines (Princess Abella) who already represented the country in Miss Bikini International 2010.
Let’s see which girls will make it to the 2011 roster and get the chance to win the crown currently being held by last year’s winner, Wendy Tabulsalla. The eventual winner will take home more than PhP1 million worth of prizes plus a multi-page spread on Mega Magazine.
